    I have a question if you can help me. I am working on this 2011 ram 3500 6.7 and I have problems with the high fuel pressure pump . I have already install 3 new high fuel pressure pump they keep braking they start leaking fuel by the seal and it fill the oil pan .so far what I done (I replace injectors Orings . fuel pressure relief valve. high fuel pressure sensor .the fuel pressure regulator come with the fuel pump the engine run smooth then after 15 minutes start acting up like misfire shake the engine I do have codes for p0254; injection fuel control Circuit High . and then injectio fuel pressure low [ I really appreciate if you help me thanks ]

    Pressure relief valve on at front of rail on mine. Simple roadside test was, key off, loosen banjo fitting until see ports, turn engine on, see if any leakage up to 1600+ rpm. If no leakage valve most likely ok.

      How do you take this valve off?? It looks like it is assembled to the fuel rail

      It's just a bolt at the end of the Rail. Loosen one injector feed line to bleed off fuel pressure first, then you can safely loosen the bolt at the end. Watch this entire video series from his first to last for full understanding. It's worth the time.

    Great video. Im getting a code whenever I put my foot into the throttle for hills, passing, etc.
    I don't have the InSite software. But my screen in the truck shows me: PID 157 ENGINE CONTROLLER INJ METERING RAIL PRESSURE RESERVED
    I had the fuel pump updated when I did my engine rebuild last year (ISX15).
    I did have a small o-ring leak on the fuel pump. Fixed that but still getting the code. Maybe this is my problem....

      Did you fix it brother. I have exactly the same problem.truck is throwing code spn 157 slowing down on hills and disappears also when ever passing. Any help appreciated.

      @@fixumnet was your truck skipping when climbing hills?? Was it the fuel pressure regulator?? Did you get it fixed?

      @@StickNclutch.yes I fixed Last week. It was the fuel pump throwing metal to the engine. I replaced the fuel pump, oil cooler, oil pump, main bearing, Bearing, crankshaft polished, gaskets, 24 gallon of oil. I was having a bad week $$$$$$$.FAULT CODE 559,SPN 157 FMI 18. fuel pump was the updated one [ not with the ceramic] good luck.

    I get to 29k psi and once i turn off the key it drops to 0 psi in less then 10 seconds i replaced the pressure relief valve but it still doing it.

      Then you have a leak internally in the high pressure side. From high pressure pump to injector. You can isolate injectors to see which one is leaking, but that's more in depth, and take more time.

      If it was an internal leak in injector you would have white smoke on start up, replace the solenoid control on the back of high pressure pump,

    So if the injectors have been replaced and the pressure relief valve has been also replaced and it has that code what other things could it be?

      @@gill4253 we send it to a shop and what they come up with was that the injectors weren’t tightened right even though we went through what Cummins said

      CEL on, low power going up hills. Hard acceleration with throw a code also, once driver cycle key off and on, engine return to normal, until heavy/hard acceleration.

    I get FUEL RAIL PRESSURE code on my dash sometimes when going up a hill or down with Jake brake or passing... Could this be the problem?...I replace my fuel pump and still doing it SOMETIMES

      Did you replace the high pressure fuel pump? I just had my truck in the shop to troubleshoot this problem. They changed the relief valve but didn't help. All signs are pointing to my high pressure pump/lift pump.

      @@bababa39 yes but I still get the Check engine light every now and then in October it's going to be a year doing this...I'm hoping it's the fuel pressure sensor on the rail

      @@ponce74446 I'm getting my pump pulled and probably rebuilt this week. Hoping it'll solve my problem. Please come back and let us know if you get yours figured out. Helps people like us down the road that may run into this same issue.

      I also have spn code 157 on my diagnostic screen check engine on & off when I’m on step hill changed fuel relief valve & no luck same problem any good ideas what could be going on

    I have the code 559 rail metering rail1 replaced the pressure relief valve and same shit won't start without either and code comes right back

      559 code is cause by low fuel pressure. Things to check, fuel filter clogged, fuel leak, hose kinked, injector leak, pressure relief valve, fuel pump. You can to do your inspection to determine what's wrong.
