"The Batman" (2022) Chase Scene Rescored with EVERY CINEMATIC BATMAN THEME YET

- just some edits I did on my phone. FWIW, my favorite Batman themes are Elfman's, Walker's and Goldenthal's, incidentally the first three in this video. to be super clear, I'm not making some value judgement about which theme is best suite for this particular scene--each composer made what was best suited for their respective project, and I'm sure Giacchino will kill it come March. I'm just having fun editing shit.
0:00 Batman 1989 (Danny Elfman)
0:15 Mask of the Phantasm (Shirley Walker)
0:30 Batman Forever (Elliot Goldenthal)
0:45 Batman Begins/Dark Knight Trilogy (James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer)
1:00 Batman V Superman (Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL)
1:15 Lego Batman (Lorne Balfe)
1:30 Zack Snyder's Justice League (Tom Holkenborg)
1:45 Batman 1966 (Neal Hefti)
my favorites are 1993 Shirley Walker , 2005 James Newton Howard + Hans Zimmer, 2016 Hans Zimmer + Junkie XL and 2017 Lorne Balfe theme
@Krishna Shenoi thanks for pining my comment even you didn't have to, im thankful
Han Zimmerman 2005 is the best
lego batman hits different type
Looking at your list, the noted absence from the video is the Dark Knight Returns theme
This shows us two things:
1. Every composer understood the character and made the theme as timeless as possible. That's why all of these still work.
2. Matt Reeves understood Batman perfectly. That's why every theme fits his imagery.
That really doesn’t make sense lol
@@thischannelisdeleted then you're an Idiot lmao
@@thischannelisdeleted it does
@@thischannelisdeleted it actually does
Umm I disagree.
All of them fit perfectly in a strange way, even the 60’s theme 😂
🤣🤣🤣
It really does
All the other ones to me fit in their own way, but the only I'm questioning is the 60's theme because that should NOT work lol
I like the batman forever the most applied here
@@logancady4359 it’s meant to work. They took a lot of inspiration from the 60s series and modernized it in a dark way. He’s kinda meant to look a little goofy as he’s clearly a guy in a batsuit at this stage in his career. Almost like he’s a glorified cos player
1:45
Batman thinking to himself :” Shit, I forgot my cop repellant spray”
“Sometimes you just can’t get rid of a suicide bomb!”
LMAO
His batarangs ran out too.
Some days you just can't get rid of a cop.
Bat cop repellant spray.
The Batman Forever theme actually fits the scene extremely well, it's crazy!
its soo good actually
Still holds up today
Agree. It's very underrated
Sounds like raimi's spiderman
Right?! It's crazy
All of them fits!
Didn't know Lego Batman has such a banger theme.
Always bet on Black 😎
Lorn Balfe does amazing work
Kinda underrated in my opinion
@@Commander_Shepard. im batman im awsome
I hadn't heard of lorne Balfe before he did the music for the adaptation of the wheel of time, and criticisms of the show aside, I think he did a great job making music that is appropriate without being generic - definitely a composer to look out for.
Let’s not deny the Lego Batman theme actually goes with this pretty well
1989 theme lego just reused it.
@@Foambrain no
@@Foambrain But let's also not pretend like the 1989 theme isn't absolutely phenomenal. Nobody is at fault for being inspired. It's stunning.
@@Foambrain ratio
@@Foambrain I was talking about Lorne Balfe you maroon
0:01 Escapist Batman
0:15 Daring Batman
0:30 Chaotic Batman
0:45 Menace Batman
1:00 Vigilante Batman
1:15 Stressed Batman
1:30 Unhinged Batman
1:45 Goofy Batman
Not my go-to descriptions for them all.
the 1966 one seems more like an ecstatic batman, like he just barely escaped from a heist
Goofy Batman won my heart
I’d flip the :45 and 1 minute one. Nolan Batman is more of the vigilante feel, BvS Batman is much harsher so more of a menace. Imo
@@spurslegacy So true
Honestly Lego Batman fit the best for me. You have epic running chase music in the beginning and then when he starts to grapple up and then you have the orchestra bit come in as the climax of the scene is about to come up.
It wasn't made for this movie but it fits so damn well.
Edit: I was wrong in this comment so just ignore lmao
@@Dynamo33 Umm, you do realize that that's the official theme for the Lego Batman MOVIE. FYI, there's a difference between the Lego Batman Movie and the games.
@@slimsmelly Aye, I completely missed the Lorne Balfe theme and only realised after writing the comment. I'm stupid, don't mind me.
Yeah, Lorne Balfe's score is definitely the best one here (in my opinion) but the others are really good too.
Even though all of these themes fit pretty well, the standout is the 1966 theme. The fact that it's the only version to stop when Batman whips out his grapple gun and then start back up when he's pulled upwards is amazing.
I never new I wanted "diabólic" esque, action comedy batman.
True
Especially considering that Pattinson’s cowl is directly inspired by West’s.
Shirley Walker's fits perfectly. Seeing as the movie looks like it's a live action version of BTAS. Makes sense
It really doesn’t? Like, not even close. Especially when BTAS itself was modeled after the Burton Films, and the Snyder films took the most direct comic inspiration design wise of any of the film series.
Edit: Y’all really mad that I’m allowed to like two different versions of the character and make comparisons between them, huh?
@@Gojirawars03 nah.
@@Gojirawars03 mainstream Bats doesn't murder people cold blood buddy. Not even the DKR Batman it was inspired by.
@@Commander_Shepard. Batman goes back and forth on that all the time, depending on the storyteller. In the first appearance, he killed a bunch of people. It was only when the publisher decided to gear him more toward kids that he stopped. And then it slowly became a kind of moral point. I think, though, the better Batman stories embrace that rule. It makes him a better Batman. Without it, he's just the Punisher. But he's worse, because at least the Punisher stories address the profound moral implications of murdering criminals. When Batman does it, it's almost always because the writer thinks it doesn't matter. And that just sucks.
Pattinson himself actually said he took inspiration from Batman: The Mask of The Phantasm to build the parallels and tone for his character. You can literally see the dynamic between Bruce and Alfred that they had in that movie in certain aspects and scenes. The voice itself as well is obviously no Conroy but at least its not a Bale, the voice is a whisper, it’s off putting and menacing.
The 1966 one is so cool and the way it pauses as Batman grapples and it continues when he goes up is just so amazing
It does work so stupidly well. Kinda amazing.
66' confusingly fits soo perfectly that i'm actually intrested in the idea of a grounded but very goofy batman movie
JackBlackMan
yea it gave me a paul anderson vibe
the only one that was timed well in this compilation imo. I didn't expect it to work but I watched it and said out loud "that's awesome"
*I'm vengeance*
(POW!)
What if I told you that Batman 66 was Matt Reeves favorite Batman and used the show as an influence for this movie?
Mask of The Phantasm one is perfect
Yeah
really epic, it brings back memory
Exactly
1995 was not only severely underrated as a film but that theme was just epic.
Honestly, Batman has not had a bad movie theme yet.
If you legitimately think that Batman & Robin is underrated, you're either severely blinded by nostalgia due to having grown up watching it, or you don't know how to critically examine a piece of media. That movie gets all the hate it deserves for trying to be a sequel to Batman '66 over a decade after the general tone and image of Batman threw that campy "Comics Code Authority" tier shit in the trash.
@@Madara8989 He's talking about Batman Forever, moron. Batman & Robin was in 1997.
@@Madara8989 Batman and Robin isn't that bad a flick. Blame WB and not Schumacher. The man tried his best
@@dancastro9274 im sorry mate what 😂 he tried his best? The reason they got rid of burton for the rest of the bat nipple bollocks was to tell toys and make the movies more kids friendly after batman returns, it is an absolute shit show and everyone agrees, u can't tell me you can sit through that and tell me that's good story telling and is actually generally cool
I never want the 60’s show to be forgotten. It’s honestly a gem that showcases the silver age of Batman so damn perfectly
I adore that show, and I was born 43 years later, Absolutely timeless.
Have to disagree, Batman '66 is clever and fun, Silver Age comics are just... kinda stupid IMO
That was the best one, i wonder though if and why not there werent any animated ones listed
Edgy batman is fun and but goofy batman is amazing
My favorites are Shirley Walker (0:15) because her music on top of this scene makes it reminiscent of the scene in Phantasm when the cops are running to chase Batman after he's unmasked, & Neil Hefti (1:45) because his music on top of this scene makes it feel like some grand chase comedy (kinda like Blues Brothers or Mad Mad Mad Mad World) where Batman means well, but this time he *_majorly_* screwed up & riled up every cop in the precinct. 😆
I also quite like Elliot Goldenthal on it (0:30).
I love Shirley's theme in general (it's probably my favourite out of all of them), but I love how it fits here: it shapes the scene into something that feels more heroic, as opposed to the 'suspenseful thriller' vibe the other ones give off.
"Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Agreed!
Made me chuckle
I CANNOT being to describe the chills that ran down my spine at 0:24
That literally fits so well
My personal favorite Batman theme
2015 or 2017 seem to "fit" the most, but 2005 is my favourite.
Yeah me too
Sammmme
Nah, Shirley Walker
Same
I LOVE the Goldenthal theme from Batman Forever! That theme is always stuck in my head. SO GOOD!
Same here
Elliot Goldenthal is extremely underrated among the other Batman's composers
Agreed, a shame the movies it was used for were so lame because God damn that theme rips
if it weren't for that lame awful movies, this theme would be based.
I’m gonna say it. Goldenthals is the best! Hans Zimmer is just rhythmic sounds anyone can make. 1995s actually has an epic melody
0:15
Shirley's feels so epic, like it's life or death on a gothic level.
Nolanverse's, Ben Affleck's and Lego's theme surprisingly fit and good.
Proof that while the Batman films have varied in overall quality we’ve never had a bad theme
1:15 2017 soundtrack fits the scene perfectly.
And it's from the Lego Batman movie too
It sounds like a frantic escape
Felt a little generic to me. Sounds like usual Hollywood music over the last decade. Familiar, doesn't blow your socks off, safe and not bad.
@@ELFanatic I understand what u mean…tho imo that theme was my favorite Batman theme before “the Batman”
Something about the Newton/Zimmer theme makes the scene feel more like a spectacle as opposed to the others like Elfman, Walker, Goldenthal, and Balfe's themes feeling like you're right there grappling with Batman experiencing the whole thing.
Something hits different with the Nolan theme 🔥
Is that suspense that drops into epic between 0:51 and 0:54.
Cause it was made by hans Zimmer
@@DiazIvar I was disappointed that it didn't
Nothing tops it, it’s just toooo guuud
Zimmer is the worst. Shirley Walker was the best.
All of these are well-edited, but you deserve an award for including the '66 theme at the end. That was amazing.
There’s nobody who couldn’t avoid smiling at the last one ♡
this just shows how well crafted all the themes are that they can work for multiple different batmen
0:45 suits perfectly
The Best part is EVERY theme fits in this video even Adam west theme. Keep up the great work and thx for making this. This movie is gonna be so epic! #TheBatman
I really like all of them but, I’m especially glad you included Elliot goldenthals theme cause many people skip that when it comes to Batman music/tributes. I mean love or hate Batman forever and Batman and Robin; they’re still apart of Batman history and personally I believe the music should be recognized
Shows that all Batman’s are great in there own way
No
@@VVIASIP ratio
I can’t get over how epic Batman’s theme is in 1:00
"The original the Batman with ben afleck "
1989 and 2005 is my favorite 🦇🦇🦇
1966 just makes me laugh 🤣
It’s nuts to me how intense and dramatic the Lego Batman theme is considering it was a thematically lighter film directly towards a younger audience
The Elfman sound track is so iconic and I honestly think it fits the best. Though the new one is very good.
0:56 This gives me shivers. Holy moly, I love the Dark Knight Trilogy.
Agreed
@@Alfei22 personally i think that his Batman is the reason why the Batman character is so successful.
Adding a bit onto this: Everyone knew Batman before the movie, but the movie's portrayal of Batman made people realize that he is a serious character and helped them identify some core values about Batman that they previously didn't know as they don't read comics.
zoomer
The 1989 theme will always and forever be the best Batman theme, no matter what.
Absolutely. Nobody has topped the Danny Elfman score yet.
@@tonyfondacaro1980 Nah... too campy for a modern interpretation of batman. When they forced it in Justice League it was a disaster. There are different themes that are perfect for different incarnations.
The new theme by Michael has become the new definitive for me now.
I think Shirley walkers Batman theme is the perfect version it takes the camp of the 1989 and makes more serious while still heroic and dark
@@kartikaye3313 Agreed, it's the most dramatic and theatrical one. It stands out from the rest which feel gothic. That themes literally screams Batman.
The bvs score is very underrated. The way it rises and there’s so much anger in it!
Lorne Balfe's score went harder than it should have. All the scores are fantastic but something about Balfe's just really works with the scene.
Theme sounds too generic to me. But it has been at least a decade of generic themes so if you're younger it fits your expectations. So I get it.
@@ELFanatic I'm 46 years old.
Okay, why does the Mask of the Phantasm one fit SO well? Like, it's not flawless, but it absolutely nails the vibe. I feel like most animated themes wouldn't fit a live action setting half as well
Because Shirley Walker is OP, man
@@rickygforce4217 Amen to that
@@rickygforce4217 its also because matt reeves matched the tone of the animated series and a more gritty batman, i dont think her theme would have worked with some live action batmans
I would really like to see a recut of the whole film with the Elfman theme. Bloody awesome!
Same
And why not, Hans Zimmer and Tom Holkenborg.
0:30 1995. I grew up with this
Same!
lmao the 89’ theme gave me such nostalgia/noir vibes and I strangely got an odd Tarantino vibe from the 66 theme
Every day, I'm reminded more and more of how much the music in the LEGO Batman Movie SLAPS.
Hans Zimmers score is just so badass it fits Batman so well no matter who plays him
I absolutely love the Animated Series theme! Having grown up watching it on DVD and idolizing Batman, it just sounds so strong, cool, and nostalgic for me. The 89 theme has a similar effect on me. I wasn't born in the 90s, but 1989 Batman was my mom's favorite Batman movie (if only for Keaton and Nicholson), and the Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Superman the Animated Series will always live rent-free in my head
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how underrated the Batman: Forever score actually is?
All of these themes are composed by the best composers and all of them are epic. I'm glad that you have even included the Zack Snyder's Justice League theme, lego Batman theme, and mask of Phantasm theme
the 89’ and shirley walker theme fit most perfectly for me (maybe i’m just a sucker for those themes.)
Damn how many floors is this guy going to have to grapple up
Can’t believe I’m saying this but that 66 theme works so well, just makes it so fun.
Phantasm theme is perfect
It does though. Oddly enough.
Seriously, every single theme fits. God, I love Batman.
Soundtracks are amazing., and how music changes the mood of a scene is even more so. The Adam West era Batman theme made the scene instantly funny.
The Batman Forever theme fits so well. That theme is so underrated.
0:15 walkers is best imo, feels like BTAS since this film took heavy inspiration from BTAS, heck this pd station feels BTAS, probably because how simple the set is. LOVE IT.
Wow they really all fit perfectly. A good sign that all Batman themes fit Batman. 🦇
If there's something we can agree that all Batman adaptations did right is the music. They're all amazing!
I confess I don't think The Batman was a perfect movie, but Giacchino truly continued the legacy and did not disappointed with this new theme.
Man... Mask of the Phantasm theme is just... Is just Batman
Hans Zimmer one just hits differently 🖤🖤🖤
The fact that the Hanz Zimmer Batman theme works so well even for a random scene is amazing.

0:22 That's why this theme is the 🐐. Works with any Batman scene .
Even Zimmer and Goldenthal's themes work well too
To be honest I like more with the Dark Knight theme but it's strangely even awesome with the 60's theme too.
True. It's reminding us that Batman is just a guy in a costume, it's silly 😂
Holy crap, the Elfman theme fit perfectly!
1:45 is beautiful. Hopefully it's incorperated into Giachinnos theme for Chapter 2 as a "Hope suite"
Elliot Goldenthal's theme is, in my opinion, very underrated. I know that Elfman's theme is the classic one, but... I don't know, since my childhood Goldenthal's theme stuck on my head much more than Elfman's, despite the fact that I'm not able to choose which one I prefer.
0:53 *ME LOSING MY SHIT*
1:46 could you imagine hearing this on the roar of IMAX speakers
I really love the combination of this scene with Elfman theme, for me is the best match.

It's good that this video of The Batman has played very Batman theme in it, including from the Batman TV Series as well.

There’s so many different themes from the animated films and Arkham games that could work really well in this scene. ESPECIALLY some of the scores done by Christopher Drake.
Facts
The Dark Knight Returns comes to mind.
@@IANGEL101I The music was composed by Christopher Drake for both parts of The Dark Knight Returns. I was thinking more Arkham Origins, Under the Red Hood, and Gotham Knight though. All of these are also composed by Christopher Drake.
@@AustinNGrayson The one for Arkham Origins is personally one of my favourites. It's just epic
@@thekramer1097 It’s insane how good it is. Christopher Drake is in my top three favorite composers and to me his music is the sound of DC. For years he composed a plethora of music for many different DC projects, not just Batman. It’s a crime that he goes so unrecognized.
If they remade the 60s theme and made it sound contemporary for a new Batman movie, it would be incredible.
Walker's theme works with everything
These all hit so hard, but I think ‘93 and ‘95 are my favorites here.
Danny Elfman’s and Shirley Walker’s are the best for me. So gothic and rousing.
0:45 instantly this movie turns into a Nolan film
I have to give it to Elfman on this one. Although I was surprised at how well the Batman Forever and Lego Batman scores suited it. Really well done compilation.
Its crazy how the same scene with different scores gives it a different feeling
Seeing Batman running is satisfying to me. Too much mythology around him, he is just a man
I want The Batman to be entirely rescored with 60's theme.
Even better. Do the entire film again but as if it was a movie from the 60's.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm always gives me the goosebumps
I wasn't expecting such a decent score from Lego Batman, but here we are. Also, the score for Batman Begins still holds up.
