Hay Adam you where there at the entrance of Dolly's child hood home just on the other side of that wooden fence is the drive that will take you back to her child hood home. she also has a newer home that she built next to the original where she goes to write music. also her brother has a home there where he lives full time. they put the fence up to keep people off the property. the second drive you where at is a back entrance to the property no longer used. You can go see her mom and dads house that Dolly bought for them called Red Top in Sevierville on Millican Grove RD/ near Allensville Rd you cant miss it the house sits on top of a hill the roof is red and has a big black fence around it. Also at Dollywood see the show my people her real family is in the show.

You found her house the first time behind those gates. If you do a google aerial view you can see it. She did a lot of renovations and her family lives there.

According to an article I found on the internet from 1986, "Just past the church, you make your last turn and start six-tenths of a mile down an even narrower gravel road that descends a very steep hill and then veers left at the bottom past a ramshackle pole barn showing the ravages of weather.
Suddenly up there ahead, at the very end of the road, you see it: a little tin-roofed house--unoccupied at present, but well taken care of--with a front porch idealized by the one at Dollywood."

The Xanadu home of the future conjured up an old memory for me. I got to see the one in Wisconsin when I was a kid in the 80's. What blew my mind about it was the wall texture was like styrofoam and there was a waterfall in what was supposed to be the living room.

Same! Wisconsin Dells in the 80's! I can't believe he mentioned it. I wish I could go back in time. I remember the outside of the Xanadu house. The inside is a fuzzy memory. ☹️

That church at the opening is where we go to church when we are down there. It was build out of timber pulled from the Mountains, the shingles on the roof are hand carved, and ALL UP Keep both interior and exterior are done by CURRENT members of the church. Really neat history in Gburg area..we love listening to the music at Moonshine

I wish I was there with you. We live about three hours away and I love visiting Pigeon Forge. So much history, fun, kitsch, and downright odd things to see. My wife and I love the old timey photos and weddings sign that also lets you know there are donkey rides around back, so the kids have something to do while you get married dressed as an outlaw and a cancan girl. Pigeon Forge is awesome!

I was sitting in my Adirondack chair on my porch, and a huge bear came around the side of my house. It was huge! It looked at me, and proceeded to walk across my front lawn, and down my street where it knocked over all the trash cans! It had no fear of people as my husband and neighbors came out and saw it. I'm glad you got out OK Adam! Bears are terrifying and not to be messed with.

Adam, you weren't far from the Parton cabin. Actually it's just over the rise you were parked on at the gate. They put that gate up several years ago because of vandalism and people not well-meaning. Freida (Dolly's sister) still maintains that property. They keep up maintenance on the cabin to make sure it stands.
My Grandfather was born over the hill in Harrisburg. If you find that Harrisburg Covered bridge you can pull off to the side. Take a look at it because it's one of only four covered bridges left in the state of Tennessee. My Great-Great Grandfather Elbert Early built it.
His brother Sion Early built Mingus Mill (I think you went there before when you visited).

Battery charging and back-up batteries are engrained into my departure and travel routine. I take various things off my camera and adjust the camera bag in a way where when I go to leave that is the visual reminder that "something needs to be attended to. At that point I would snag that battery from the charger. Should I not have a charged battery,...the back-up battery in the bag gets me thru until the primary battery is charged up. So far I have never traveled powerless....
Great Vlog ATW! You look so comfortable in your realm,.....the Realm of EVERY STREET. Be safe...

I think their name is pronounced with a long "O".

Adam, I like the way you think. When you were driving along that desolate country road. "I hope he has gas!" was my first thought. Could you imagine running out of gas, and no phone service. NO way. I remember driving to California, and you come up to a sign that says last stop for gas for the next 600 miles lol, and the person driving doesn't stop for gas. And there's less then half a tank left. It's the one time when you say " if you don't stop, I'll kill you" that you seriously consider doing it. great video, kepp'em coming.

This reminds of a back road some where in East Worcester, upstate NY. I swear it was out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Really bad dirt roads with derelict trailers, cars, and trucks surrounded by trees. It felt like time never stopped in 1950/1960's. It just felt that way to me. It was super creepy. Not a place I want to visit again. My mom was the navigator and we were a little lost. Things had changed, as in over grown. Somehow she figured out how to get out of there. I'm happy to say we survived lol

    Hi
Adam on your location of Dolly Partons old home location. It sites on Locust Ridge at the end of a dirt road or dead ends. Once it does its rght thier I was told. My parents visited it a very long time. They said it looks just like the one that was rebuilt. I dont know if you where on locust Ridge but if you where then you where very close to its location. Just in case you go and try to locate it for your blog. It would be very cool to do so. Happy Hunting

that road you were on reminds me of Richard mountain road... a dirt road that leads out of Cades cove over the mountain to Townsend. a cool adventure if you are up for it.
