Yes, I am aware that this is based on the Detective Pikachu game. Guess I should have mentioned it at some point. The question is why they chose to use that story of all things when this could have been...like anything else, I guess.
The trailer shows that this will be an entirely different plot from the game. None of the scenes in the trailer are in the game. There is no Mr. Mime interrogation. There isnt a cage fight with a Charizard. Greninja never appears. The female companion with a psyduck was originally two news reporters. The main character meets Detective Pikachu before they even arrive at their dad's office, and is also a lot younger. The Hi-hat cafe that you can see in a earlier shot is literally the only thing that connects the game to the movie besides the titular character.
Disagree 100%, the Pokemon Super Bowl Commercial had that look, people mixed in with Pokemon that looked similar to their smooth game models and it was incredibly jarring and almost cringeworthy - this looks like something along the lines of Pooh and Paddington. Suits it way better.

I think using the Detective Pikachu story for the first live-action movie is an EXTREMELY good call. Letting Pikachu have a human voice that can be understood by the main character is interesting and they can do a lot with that. Frankly, the more traditional "boy goes on adventure, collects 8 badges" story has been told countless times across the games and the anime, so I personally am glad it's not happening again here. Also, it would probably look unsettling for realistic looking pokemon to battle it out. This setting, a city where humans/pokemon live together and there's no emphasis on capturing/battling is perfect for a live action pokemon film.
I kinda wanted a mystery dungeon movie myself. Like the red/blue rescue team or explorers. (Although was thinking more of a animated instead of CGI.) Besides I doubt they would do another Ash movie considering we just got a movie that kinda re-imagine Ash's adventure for the first season.
I thought that would have been a cool idea for the Warcraft movie, split them into a Horde and Alliance movies and paint each side differently telling the same story.
You know what's awesome about this movie? It doesn't feel the need to explain to everybody what Pokemon are, or how the Pokemon world came to be, or anything like that. It feels like a movie where they recognize that Pokemon has existed as a pop culture phenomenon for 2 decades, most people are familiar with the general concept of it, and so they're okay telling a somewhat out there story that takes place within a universe that they don't feel the need to devote the movie to establishing.

I just noticed this now, but when he is passing through the food stand the dude is cooking using the fire from Charmander's tail. Little details like that gives me hope for this movie.
Took me a while to notice too, but I really like details like that! It’s barely noticeable since Pikachu’s in the way, they didn’t have to put it in, but they did anyway, that’s a really good sign.
jagkopp I didn’t notice that, I honestly looking at it at first (i didnt have audio when seeing it on Twitter) though there were no Pokémon untill pikachu came in, and people were suprised Pokémon became real.
@@DRKLCNS1 yeah it's looks like a regular near-future city until you notice alot of pokemon integrated in it. I like it. Pokemon (anime and game) settings tends to be more rural/provincial because they travel through vast forest area and all the cities they went are not as high tech so the new setting is a welcomed change.
The vibes I got from the trailer is that they made a great story that happens to be in a Pokemon universe rather than they intentionally made a Pokemon movie. I absolutely love it for that.
Honestly I’m sick of seeing ash going to gyms over and over again. Seen everything , done that. This idea is fresh and I like it extremely, detective anything seems freakin interesting. ESPECIALLY IF ITS PIKACHU SCREAMS
I feel like the scene is gonna be like this. The human (Can't remember his name) and Pikachu are talking to a bartender and then out of nowhere they'll go "Hey! What did I say? No marking!" And then it'll cut to the Jigglypuff scene in the trailer.
Jokes on you he was playing the VO booth the entire time. He has decided voicing CG characters is the best way to roll in the dough to continue with the Toon Blast microtransactions.
Yeah, I agree. If there was an actual live action pokemon movie based on the main series, it would probably either be very generic or very absurd. The only real story we see in the games is the evil team, which either would be team rocket (which we've seen a hundred thousand times already), or a new team entirely, which I doubt most people would like.
I think they changed it up here.. if u notice the scene where he is looking at his old ticket, it was inside a birthday card saying he turned 21. Maybe in this adaptation trainers need to be 21 and over instead of 10.
Striker_cv50 is it possible that in this universe, Pokémon battles are like sports. You have elementary, middle school, high school, college, and pro Pokémon Trainers? I mean I feel if that if Pokémon was in our world, that would be how it would work. Just a thought.
I'm really surprised at the trailer that it looks half decent. It would have been so easy for them to punch out another Chipmunks/Smurfs style piece of tat but they actually seem to have gone all out in trying to make it look nice. Like, they could have made it a crappy "Pikachu escaped from his world into our world!" or have Justice Smith's character go to the Pokemon world from our world. The fact they are actually. made. a. straight. up. Detective. Pikachu. movie. is just so refreshing.
Here's what really pisses me off; whenever a movie is screed for critics, it sometimes gets rave reviews. Then when it's released in theaters, fans fucking trash the film. I'm getting so fucking sick of this shit. Just goes to show you how ungrateful people on the internet have become! Just like what happened with the new Halloween film. It fucking makes me sick! Also, the negative fan reviews are nothing but constant bitching and nitpicking over the most trivial bullshit.
Roger Rabbit used old cartoon characters and archetypes because they knew those would be the most familiar to the older audience. Characters like Betty Boop, Bugs Bunny, etc. Even the animation reflected that specific style of the Golden Age of Animation. I can see the same mindset with Detective Pikachu. People who grew up with Pokemon are now like mid 20s to late 30s, so they can just freely accept a world like this without too much of a hurdle for suspension of disbelief. Your comparison to Who Framed Roger Rabbit is pretty spot-on.
Reminds me of Who Framed Roger Rabbit from the trailer. Detective movie with wacky cartoony sidekick that the main character has to deal with while solving a mystery. Even the being discouraged by the creature for some reason then probably learning to like them by the end, dunno if it will just be a poor clone or a good homage, but at this point it seems pretty similar... However I might be wrong.
@@kpatelv607 Role reversal, eh? That's cool, still the dynamic seems the same moreorless. He will probably dislike Pokemon due to failing to become a trainer much like Eddie Valiant was down on toons due to his brother dying in a toon accident, then like Eddie his arc will be to learn to love Pokemon through the adventure with Pikachu, eventually concluding in him becoming a Pokemon trainer.
I kind of like Gunjans idea of keeping pikachu capable. It could go south very quickly if we are stuck dealing with a bratty pikachu and the baby sitter.
Why do I have a feeling that the phrase "it's not super dark, nobody's like, killing each other" is gonna be one of those comments that is going to sound hilarious in one year's time.
That seemed where Pikachu is interrogating Mr. Mime he attacks Mr. Mime but the mime summons and invisible wall to protect himself from his attack. This was a reference to his pokedex entry. @@superwooper5210 Really? Well I haven't seen it happen that often, but you see what I'm trying to say right? That this isn't a joke that some business man who doesn't play Pokemon would understand
@@krush333 I mean, mimes in media have had jokes with invisible things all the time. So, given the name Mr. Mime, a general audience can infer that it's an "invisible wall mime joke" and can understand it because it's not strictly tied to Pokemon. Either way, it's a funny gag.
2:57 I think this is actualy aimed at adults. The poeple who grew up with pokmon are i their arly twenties to early thirties now. I'm not a kid, but after having to spend the summer as a camp counseler for kids 6-8, NONE OF THEM HAD PLAYED A POKEMON GAME! Fortnite and minecraft were all the rage, and from talking with my friends, we're gonna grab a couple of beers and watch this movie.
I can assure that as a high schooler there's a pretty decent amount of people who played Pokemon (before Go era). I would of put that number in 1-2 students played, watched or read about Pokemon. Afterwards Pokemon Go hype put a lot students playing Pokemon go. Eventually it did die out but it brought out new fans to play the main core games. Of course this number pales in comparison to what the hype of gen 1 Pokemon (or at least for my guess. I wasn't alive during gen 1 release but in guessing it's way bigger then 1-2 students. Probably as big as the hype for Go.)
Pi di Think about it this way: Pokemon Go only became as big as it did because of those Gen 1 kids. Like all those crazy stories you heard of ppl running about in the droves or entire areas filled with ppl catching pokemon _worldwide_ , 90% of those ppl were ppl who grew up with Gen 1 pokemon. If that doesnt tell you how crazy popular it was back in the day, nothing will. Like Fortnite is popular but it ain’t comparable to Pokemon. There’s a reason why it was called a phenomenon.
I just wish Game Freak realised who their fans were and made a more interesting story instead of trying to make it more and more for kids. I don't need it to be R or anything, but no more gyms. Make that optional. Heck have extra cities where the gyms are and the main story be in other cities/areas. They get so close, but then think nah we'll just do the 8 gyms again and then hint at a story, and then have random real boss after the elite 4.
@@syntthia damn that's sad. Back when I was at camp it was contraband to be playing Yu-Gi-Oh cards or playing Pokemon on a game boy. I learned how to catch Rayquaza from a dude at summer camp lol
It's marketed to two groups, mainly: People who enjoyed the Detective Pokemon games. People who grew up with Pokemon. Most of the people who grew up with Pokemon when it became a fad as children are in their mid-late 20s and early 30s. It's not just kids who enjoy Pokemon. In fact, I'd argue that aside from the children of Pokemon fans, most people interested in it are adults or late teens. If anything, making it too kid oriented would hurt their profits more than anything. If you are under, say, 15, Pokemon is just another Japanese turned American IP for the pile. If you are from the 90s and early 00's, it basically WAS your childhood.
You are so right. Currently, 30 and I am so glad that they have for the most part put generation 1 (yes transformers reference) Pokemon that people can at least guess what they're based on in real life, in the film. I grew up with Gen 1 anime. Pokemon yellow on the hand console, and Ash Misty, and Brock with the anime.
Calling it a fad suggests some of us lost interest in playing it consistently since '98(or '96 if you're Japanese) haha... Generation 1 isn't the only generation and isn't even the most creative generation. I grew up with it and loved it, yes, but I'm so glad the movie has what looks to be a good representation of what Pokémon truly is with a wide array of Pokémon to be seen even just in the trailer, not just Kanto pandering.
children are actually still being introduced to it, that's what pokemon let's go and let's go pikachu are there for. I often still children with little pokemon toys or playing pokemon go.

I have a hoping feeling that this might be the kind of film to prove that live-action videogame can be done well, much like how Wreck It Ralph did for videogame movies prior and WFRR did for animated movies throwing back to the Toons of the Golden Age. That Mr.Mime bit still gets me.
@@KonaKonaKaabisteru Wreck-It Ralph didn't prove that for video game movies. That bad rep goes towards video game movies as in movies based off of video games. Which is what THIS movie is too. Wreck-It Ralph was JUST a movie that references video game culture. That type of movie didn't have a bad rep necessarily. It was more in tune with stuff like Toy Story.
I don’t understand why people think “Detective Pikachu” doesn’t work as an live action movie. It’s perfect. The story fits much better as a three part act, it doesn’t focus on the battles (people won’t complain about Pokémon being slaves) and it’s self contained. This most likely will be the greatest movie based on a video game property.
Paula Abelenda Saying that this film will be the greatest video game film isn’t really saying much since most of the movies suck, ranging from mildly sucking to being just film abominations.
If we're only talking about live-action video game adaptations, sure, but there are a few great animated ones. For movies, Persona 3 comes to mind. It wasn't that good but it still told the story well enough, even if it made some horrible changes. It's also great visually, except for many large fights (including the final battle) that would be fine if the boss weren't CG.
I am incredibly intrigued by *just* the idea of this movie. If the actors behave as if the Pokémon are actually there(ala Roger Rabbit) I'll be fine with it. CGI willing of course. The CGI *HAS* to be on point with a good story that meshes well with the source material. We better see some hardcore fighting though.
Yeah, it takes a while for the old eyes to adjust to seeing photo-real furry Pokemon, but once you get used to it, the designs are actually really nice (particularly Pikachu).
I'd like to think the reason they chose a Detective Pikachu story and not a kid going on his journey as a trainer is because...well which is better suited for a big screen movie? One based on a spin-off game that's typically shorter or one better suited for a longer series taking after games with potentially hundreds of hours or even more. I'd rather Detective Pikachu which can fit a movie or movie(s) better than attempt to jam pack an entire series worth of a typical Pokemon game (Like say, Live Action of the Anime or Live Action Retelling of Red/Blue, etc.) into a movie and fail with it but try to say "Oh there's gonna be a sequel." when you know there's not because it bombs like Dragonball, Last Airbender, etc.
Yeaaah thats why I got bored of the game. I'd figure something out super quick & then have to jump through all the stupid hoops while I waited for the characters to catch up.
I hope game freak realizes most of the kids that played Pokémon back in the day are now adults and still have love for the franchise...and make the new main series generations geared toward older players
Probably just dipping their toe in the water with this one, and if it's right then we'll probably see more of these. Plus I mean a lot of things are going live action these days so I'm not surprised that Pokemon jumped on that trend.
With this movie which will probably be a success because it's based on the cultural juggernaut that is Pokemon, and the Mario Illumination movie which will probably succeed because Illumination's entire strategy is making low-budget movies that appeal to as wide an audience as possible, I think it's very likely that this will be the first out of many Nintendo movies to come.
If for whatever reason this movie ends up being terrible, we can just pretend this was a fan trailer and they somehow got Ryan Reynolds to voice in it.
Not if, when. The same is true for that mario movie being cooked up with those hacks at illumination. Its going to be many years before people who respect the source material are in high enough places to allow a video game movie the time and freedom to be done well, even longer for one of those respectful people to be put in a situation where a bunch of different producers and shareholders cannot meddle and mess up the movie.
@@prw56 This trailer's already shown plenty of respect for the source material. Pokemon of all generations have been shown, which is already great. No pandering to gunwunners or shoving the newest merch down people's throats. There's obviously gonna be popular Pokemon like Charizard, Greninja and Squirtle, but there's also Pancham, Mr Mime, a group of Emolga, Rufflet, Comfey, Flabebe etc. just from the trailer. There's clearly some thought into the Pokemon, too. Mr Mime actually uses invisible barriers, Psyduck seems to have that breaking point that Misty's had in the anime, and no Pokemon seem out of place. There's actual thought into the real-world implications of Pokemon, with cages around the battle arena we see instead of a copy/paste, and the advertising in the backgrounds is well thought-out too, with fairly obscure knowledge showing through like the fact that Wooper can learn Yawn, and the existence of Pokepuffs. The Bulbasaur migration is something that actually happened in the Gen 1 anime. However, they're also surrounded by Morelull, which is an easily-forgotten Gen 7 Pokemon. Not only are they in the movie, they're in the movie in a way that makes complete sense, adds to the visual spectacle and reminds you that they exist. And more than all that, battles aren't the focus of the movie. A movie that didn't respect Pokemon as a franchise would just do what Pokemon iconically do - battling. This movie clearly has more than that - we haven't even seen Pikachu use an attack so far. It's focussing less on the Pokemon battles, and more on the Pokemon's personalities and quirks, which is honestly amazing to me. So yeah, it's pretty promising so far imho.
I guess I was never under the impression that it wasn’t going to happen. When they first announced it, I just accepted that it was going to be made, especially after they cast Ryan Reynolds.
My prediction for the plot twist: Ryan Reynolds is a human trapped in the body of a Pikachu. Just like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Maybe cursed by a Ninetails by grabbing it's tale. Or maybe a Psychic Pokémon did a mind shuffling thing. Also RPG video game troupe: He has Amnesia.
I remember watching a play through of the game (I probably only got like 20% completed before I got bored of it. So I don't know the ending of it.) But it just kept implying Tim Goodmans father's Pikachu wasn't the same and he wasn't able to understood the Pikachu before, he didn't like sweets anymore and preferred coffee or something and he does have amnesia or at least can't remember what happened to Tim's father.
If you think Illumination and Universal are going to jeopardize their chances of launching a whole line of Nintendo animated movies by cutting corners, you don't know Hollywood. They will gladly burn the budget and make the Mario movie the best it can be because the potential windfall is INSANE.
Seriously where’s the fart jokes and dated pop culture references and minion backwash. It was like this was made by actual people. Let’s bask in this because for now because remember we have a Mario Illumination movie and Sonic fighting Jim Carrey to look forward to.
Trust me, Nintendo wouldn't be that dumb. Don't forget how protective they became after the mario bros movie and the cdi games failed badly. If they are working with another company, they ARE making sure they don't screw this up.
We have to remember that at least we will have a good cg in the sonic movie since its marza productions doing it. But i'm afraid about how the story of the movie will be... please sega... make it good.
not exactly, it looks like it's based off the anime where it wants to perform but accidentally puts everyone to sleep so it gets mad and draws on everyone's faces while they're sleeping
I see this trailer and I'm awed. Usually movies of video game or cartoon adaptations get me cringy, but this is the 1st time I'm truly excited about this! I also like how this world has humans and Pokemon living together normally like Toonland from Roger Rabbit, without the characters travelling to the real world like the Smurfs movie and detracting the experience.
This gives super Roger Rabbit vibes, I mean it's almost the same concept just replace animated characters with Pokemon. It's been awhile since we've had an 80's style adventure movie, if this fills that itch I'm super into it
I'm glad you aren't afraid to say that you want to see it. Everyone else that has even reviewing the movie trailer keeps fixating on how they dont like that Pikachu has fur now. It's like that one aspect of the movie is going to actually have an effect on whether or not they go see it.
To be fair the anime and games have never highlighted the fur so I understand where they might be coming from, but that being said this looks incredibly faithful to his design. I feel like I can actually touch a Pikachu with that. They hit the balance between cartoony and realistic perfectly with this. I really hope this movie does well.
@@RedfurredPikachu Ritchie from the anime had a pikachu who's fur stuck up on its head to detail the difference between his pikachu and ash's. Pikachu always had fur, it just wasn't really detailed all the time.
If they had anyone else, to me it wouldn't feel right. In the anime, Pikachu is kinda cheeky and isn't too fond of Ashe at the start so I get why he is jokey at the start and then gets slightly more serious when it comes to finding his dad.
1:34 Probably the reason they’re going for a spin off is because even a Gen 1 movie would have too much story to cover in a 2 hour film. The only way to fit an RPG into that time would be skipping major events which everybody hated in the Pokémon Origins Mini series
@@Aztyph yeah Pokemon Adventures seems like the best way to go if you wanted it to be a Pokemon movie in a pokemon universe. Really, I wouldn't mind if they just did an original story based on pokemon within the pokemon universe, but I imagine that would be more risky and time consuming than Adventures or DP.
I get your point of view on this movie. I was so amazed just by the fact they were willing to make a straight live action pokemon movie! I also thought "oh it couldn't be that good" but now I really am convinced to see it. I mean cmon, who wouldn't want to see Ryan Reynolds as a cute little Pikachu??
The reason this is (hopefully) a decent video game movie is probably because Pokémon has been making TV shows and movies for about 20 years now, they’ve had time to get the formula right, to work out how it would work in non-interactive media.
I am hoping that, if this movie does well, if they make another live action Pokémon movie, it is its own story. No connection to Ash or Red, aside from Pokémon. Use the movies to tell us stories that we haven't seen before in Pokémon. Explore the other aspects of their world. Follow spinoff territory, like a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon movie, so that they stay away from the standard plot of the main games as well as Ash's journey, because the instant that they go that way well, unless they do it extremely well, they will have a lot of people angry for the same reason people got angry at the Dragon Ball movie.
8:34 THANK YOU. I've never understood the reason they have to just throw the source out the window and the directors or writers have to put their stamp on it with insane amounts of their "creative license".
The reason they're using the Detective Pikachu story for the movie is to attract a wider audience. "Yeah, I've heard of pokemon and I know what a pikachu is, but what on earth is a detective pikachu?!" Anyone with even a little familiarity with pokemon will be curious what this movie is, instead of "oh, they're making a pokemon movie? I know what that is, but I probably wouldn't be interested."
You say "Why wouldn't they make a regular Pokemon movie rather than the spin off they chose?" I'm paraphrasing. And my response is because if they made a "normal" Pokemon movie there would be backlash from fans due to changes. But if they made no changes people would think its stale. Either way its a lose lose to go based the actual source material. That's why spin offs are so much better. There is no massive story that could be screwed over and make people upset, but there's still Pokemon so people want to see it. A win win. And that is why they chose to make a movie based off of a spin off rather than from the actual source material!
I felt the same way, this is dumb! By the end of the trailer I was like I'm going to see it! It has no right to look as fun as it does. Could w finally get a good video game movie? We have a good cartoon in Castlevania and now hopefully a movie!

Took me a while to notice too, but I really like details like that! It’s barely noticeable since Pikachu’s in the way, they didn’t have to put it in, but they did anyway, that’s a really good sign.
the various pokemon wandering the city add to it as well

@@DRKLCNS1 yeah it's looks like a regular near-future city until you notice alot of pokemon integrated in it. I like it.

I think that the reason they did this is because the story is a lot more easier to tell then a 10 year old running around to gym to gym.
Yup. If you go by the games the story is just there to get things going. And the anime (early on) has no real direction.
I agree with both of you. If they were to make it based off the Anime or games. It would be a complete messy poo

"Too edgy who is this for?"
Have you ever seen Roger Rabit?
Roger Rabbit used old cartoon characters and archetypes because they knew those would be the most familiar to the older audience. Characters like Betty Boop, Bugs Bunny, etc. Even the animation reflected that specific style of the Golden Age of Animation.
I can see the same mindset with Detective Pikachu. People who grew up with Pokemon are now like mid 20s to late 30s, so they can just freely accept a world like this without too much of a hurdle for suspension of disbelief.
Your comparison to Who Framed Roger Rabbit is pretty spot-on.

Even the being discouraged by the creature for some reason then probably learning to like them by the end, dunno if it will just be a poor clone or a good homage, but at this point it seems pretty similar... noah solomon wait what happened to the world why has it gone corrupt

The belly fur on Pikachu is lighter than the rest of the fur on its body. Gen 1/Chubby Pikachu callback.
It's marketed to two groups, mainly:
People who enjoyed the Detective Pokemon games.
While I agree for the most part, I am currently 13 and my friends and I *adore* Pokémon. We’ve grown up with it.

@@KonaKonaKaabisteru Wreck-It Ralph didn't prove that for video game movies. That bad rep goes towards video game movies as in movies based off of video games. Which is what THIS movie is too.
Paula Abelenda All I Hope is that live action movie adaptations of anime-esque video games doesn’t become a trend.
Paula Abelenda i totally agree

I am incredibly intrigued by *just* the idea of this movie. If the actors behave as if the Pokémon are actually there(ala Roger Rabbit) I'll be fine with it.

Dorkosauruz “a lot of things are going live action these days”
Yes, we’re living in a dark age...
If for whatever reason this movie ends up being terrible, we can just pretend this was a fan trailer and they somehow got Ryan Reynolds to voice in it.
Not if, when. The same is true for that mario movie being cooked up with those hacks at illumination.
Its going to be many years before people who respect the source material are in high enough places to allow a video game movie the time and freedom to be done well, even longer for one of those respectful people to be put in a situation where a bunch of different producers and shareholders cannot meddle and mess up the movie.
prw56 what about this trailer doesn’t respect the game?

Really, I wouldn't mind if they just did an original story based on pokemon within the pokemon universe, but I imagine that would be more risky and time consuming than Adventures or DP.
I liked Origins, it was pretty cool
This movie looks like it has more soul and creativity put into it than let's go.
I'm just honestly amazed. That they somehow managed to make Mr mime NOT super creepy. I have no clue how they did that
Deadpool as Pikachu
Let that sink in
Lucas M it never will
Says the guy with a Smash Piranha Plant as his profile picture
we got a piranha plant as a playable character and a pokemon live action movie, we live in one weird ass timeline
Deadpool as Film Noir Pikachu.
It makes too much sense.
Woah....
You’re only allowed to say “yes please” to butternut squash
No nut
Pikachu looks like a butternut squash.
This is an exception. -.-
Yes, please keep butternut squash away
Can't believe he's not been inducted into the Grumps yet
I have a tendency to watch Arlo when I'm doing chores.
Me too! 🤓 I always have to watch or listen to something to keep me focused, and you can never go wrong with Arlo. 👍
I dont care what any of you say. This looks wonderful
Agreed
Yassssss ;-; i want it now
My brain activity refuses to believe this is a thing that is being made
the way some of those pokemon look are just weird, like the psyduck and mr. mime.
Yo! I do NOT care what anyone says. I am HYPE for this. LEGIT HYPED!!!
I KNOW RIGHT!!?? LIKE HOW DOES THIS LOOK SO GOOD!!!???
Calling it right now, this is setting up a Nintendo Cinematic Universe
Clifford Batteau doubtful
I believe you.
Clifford Batteau how would Zelda work lol
If so I’m hoping for a Kirby movie
Yes! I could see a Mario running around that city
Jigglypuff has hair
My life’s been a lie
I don't know what you were expecting
That weird purple hair dude I’ve always thought it was rubber or rubber like material
My life's not a lie unless they show it from above and it doesn't look like a perfect circle.
Plus its got a hair curl so
Ya Boi **gently pats shoulder** Us two, we're one of the same.
Still disappointed Danny Devito isn't Pikachu's voice actor.
Ryan Reynolds is better
Dont @ me
Would have been the best timeline.
He should be trubbish, the trash pokeman.
@@nutaneme5179 Yes! so long as he gets to hang dong.
I felt the same way, this is dumb! By the end of the trailer I was like I'm going to see it! It has no right to look as fun as it does. Could w finally get a good video game movie? We have a good cartoon in Castlevania and now hopefully a movie!
So now we're discounting Sonic SatAM and the Pokemon anime?
@@theinimitablejora522 Of course they don't count, they were always good. We mean stuff BESIDES them.
FOCK YOU
Warcraft wasn't a bad film if you have played the games, but it's just unfortunate they had to start the films where they did as there are more interesting arcs.
That thing Jigglypuff's holding... That's not a microphone.
If you've ever seen an episode with that particular individual, you'd know it's a marker of mass chaos.
These pokemon are haunting me help. JIGGLYPUFF IS TOO HAIRY
Its F L U F F Y B O I
I originally thought Jigglypuff would look more rubbery like a balloon for the movie
I hate what they've done to Charizard
Mr. Anonymous Well, if you think about it that's just how it would look. Say, RedFire/LeafGreen or the first season of the anime artwork for Charizard suggests that it would be like that.
Greninja and Bulbasaur look good. Mr. Mime though...
The movie seems legit.
The footage in the background looks really weird
Hope its cause it's all slowed down
Edit: okay the trailer is actually quite funny and i am excited to watch it. Though it reminds me of ted
Ted 3
Yeah, the footage was slowed down probably so it wouldn’t outrun what Arlo was saying.
This could be the first good video game movie.
Western made at least, Japan has made some good ones
Holden Cole I heard the Ace Attorney movie was alright, too bad that was Japan only
Holden Cole What about Wreck It Ralph?
@@ctshaffer1999 yea that was good
Cole Shaffer That movie doesn’t count
The thumbnail was probably everyone's reaction.
Anyone else come here after his first impressions on the Sonic movie?
Mee
The best thing about this Pokemon Movie is that Ash is nowhere to be found
Kai Yess!
Hopefully there’s at least ONE reference to a playable character
Yep!
Finally...
Whats wrong with ash?
With people complaining it isn’t Danny Davito he probably just declined to do it for some reason
Kieran JSL He doesn’t even know what Pokémon is
Kieran JSL Danny Davito wasn’t even the voice of Detective Pikachu in the game, he was considered and maybe the first choice for that role but it didn’t happen. I’m starting to wonder if some people never heard that Ryan Was the final VA or if they just really want Davito, it’s kinda hard for me to tell at the moment.
@@LinkTahuterasuSpirit Its a meme, thats why pepole wont shut up
I have noticed gen 1,5,6, and 7 pokemon so far in the trailer.
You guys see any other pokemon from different gens?
He's still not Danny Devito though
HE'S DEADPOOL
Ppl need to drop the Devito thing now
@@mario_adv2nture That's not good enough, because I'm already Deadpool.
@@ChristopherMoom DELTARUNE
It’s not Danny debuts but it’s better
Well no one thought a Joker origin movie would happen either but here we are. Unlike the Joker origin movie though, I actually don’t mind this Detective Pikachu movie so much.
Dan Williams, what? The teasers we have got for the joker movie look promising. Unless you are referring to the fact that it is being made by D.C then I understand.
The question is...
"Why Not?"
But yeah...
I can't believe how Awesome it Looks/Sounds💕
Mr Mime is every bit as unnerving as a real one could be.
Despite how people feel about the movie, that Charizard looks AWESOME
Professor Pro All the fan art of realistic Charizard will be embodied on the big screen
Professor Pro I can't be the only one who thinks that the cg charizard looks AWFUL
Nah it looks really bad
But the bulbasars are better
@@mfgaming550 You're not alone. The cg pokemon look absolutely uncanny. Downright creepy
This was kept completely under wraps too. THAT'S SO COOL. Like we heard WHISPERS about it, but nothing concrete. I love that in this day and age you can still surprise people with movies. Love it.
My mother asked me why I was lying on my bed, wide-eyed in shock.
I just showed her the trailer.
Did she lie in bed WIDE-EYED IN SHOCK with you afterwards?
EDIT: all words in caps.
@@HyLion *phrasing*
@@gabs3147 Oh shit, let me fix that!
I bet you looked like your profile picture

I saw the thumbnail & I completely lost it! “Why? But yes please!” That perfectly sums up my reaction!
“Why? But also yes please!” My thoughts exactly.
