Just watched it again. I am 74, have never watched another concert video all the way through more than once, but I've watched this one at least 10 times. Music box, typewriter, autoharp, a whistling bass player and a drummer who can play the theramin, only Wintergatan would dare to do this!

There's something about Wintergatan's music that really helps to calm me down. I can't quite put my finger on it, but their compositions and overall DIY vibe are like a gentle reminder that we're all human; a reminder that we're all experiencing this bizarre thing called "life" and doing the best we can to navigate it; a reminder to not take things so seriously and to take a moment to appreciate creativity.

I'm 66 and just can't tell you how much I appreciate a new step in my musical evolution and appreciation. Thanks SOO MUCH my "musical friend"! Keep up the AWESOME work...!
The Marble Machine introduced me to Wintergatan. I've been watching the Marble Machine X develop watching Wintergatan Wednesdays. ( Too Cool ) Today was the first time I've listened to Wintergatan play music. I appreciate that every musician plays most every instrument! What a cool sound! Thank you Wintergatan! ( Hello from Tulsa, Oklahoma USA )
Ye, same here. The engineering of that machine from hell got me at first, but you can’t avoid noticing how effortlessly music comes out of the guy. And this concert was awesome, his friends seem cut from the same stock. Someone compared to Mike Oldfield, and that strikes a chord with me. In my ears the Wintergatan music is like the love child of harmless and badass.
yeah it really distorts my perception i have of martin. I started watching him because of the marble machine, but you really can't grasp his full musical prowess or career unless you really look for it. He is a truly incredible musician and so creative and imaginative. It's hard to catch on to that just watching him essentially as an engineer work on the marble machine.
this concert is the most beautiful and pure thing I've ever listened to. absolute genius. the intuition over how the instruments operate, the communication between band members. the shared experience between band members and audience members. even in performance, it is apparent that both the musicians and the audience enjoy what they are hearing/doing. the entire experience is both tactile and audibly mesmerising. "a good time was had by all" could not have better been explained. the emotional variety of this music is stunning, as is the cultural span and yet it sounds as if it's it's own brand all to its self. sure, there are no lyrics, but incorporating an expertly skilled whistler was marvellous and mind blowing. everything about this concert visibly or invisibly is breathtaking.
I never go to concerts but if Wintergatan come to southamerica I will definitely go to enjoy their music, otherwise now I have a real reason to visit Europe.
It was a good time! To add to it all it was a "picnic concert" so everyone in the audience had brought their own food and drink to the venue. So it was all very cozy and lovely even before the music started :)
I can see this vid year by year and still makes me laugh, cry and dance with closed eyes and open soul. Cant get enough of people making LOVE with music. Thanks.
the typewriter, the diy music box, the "moldulin"... it's all too charming. i normally try to get other things done when listening to music but i couldn't stop staring at the screen for the past 1 hour 7 minutes. also i like how you are all wearing plain black so that people can concentrate on the important matter: music.
There aren't that many good instrmental bands around these days. I think your music has much of the spirit of what Mike Oldfield did in the 70's. I enjoyed this very much. Tusen tack!
One thing that fascinates me about this performance is how the same sound is played sequentially on more than one instrument by different musicians. It's easy to miss, but it happens several times completely seamlessly. Example: 1:03:44 Marcus plays the theremin, who then transitions to drums. Evelina takes over with a theremin patch on the keyboard. Musical pass of the figurative baton, very cool!
BlueSparkle pointed out a good one at 59:56 in which Evelina takes the melody from Martin on the keyboard. They play the same note at the same time, then Martin lets go of the keyboard and takes the autoharp. I just saw another interesting and off the wall trick. 34:18 We can see Martin use the closing of the accordion to add to the sound regimen.
I am 5 years late in seeing this but thank you so much for sharing your mad genius. I love your music! I am so glad you decided to put this on TH-cam so that we can get to hear your amazing music here in the US.
Amazing fact is how humble he is talking about and revealing many mistakes about the marble machine. Also, its fascinating how art and creativity makes you create something that is well beyond of reach (construction and architecture skills required to build that machine) just purely driven by idea, music and sound in your head. When we concentrate and focus on something lead by our creativity,we create wonders. An architect or skilled craftsman would never get an idea to create a marble machine just like musician would never get an idea for a beautiful and groundbreaking building or discover new construction material.
Yep, I love this idea that the Art and the Process are one in the same. The success and failure are all part of the same work, so therefore it is all included.
TH-cam algorithm forces some marble machine in my feed for nearly a year I keep skipping by... Until last night I watched many videos wondering WTF is this? Now this came up in my feed today because I still had no idea who/what wintergatan was/is. Just watched whole show and then while watching bought their record on vinyl. Sheesh.
The marble machine x is nearing its build end and I’ve been following every video, going back to group music, I just can’t wait for the first new music....
What a perfect ending to this show: a epic 13 minutes Paradis where everyone is just on point. The hard to play theremin spot on, you could see the grin on Marcus' face :-) Every single one of you really seemed to enjoy this. And what a pleasant sight to see Martin grab the guitar and play that really dirty, heavy rock riff at the end. The man, that is always so humble and quiet and here he really rocks and breaks the chains (may be there are no real chains to break - but it's totally different to the Martin we see in all the youtube videos)! This song evolves so much and has so many facettes to it, I would love to see you live someday and listen to this acoustic Paradis(e) :-)
So, first Detektivbyrån, and now Wintergatan with among others that INSANE Marble Machine.. What kind of Music Savant ARE you?! But thank you for being it.. THANK YOU for making MUSIC.

Woah, I listened to the marble song over and over again when I was in a rehab clinic about 8 years ago, and I never knew about this live version! Now, years later, I quit everything and have my own very busy authentic babershop, but this brought me back to my lowest point in life in a good way. So to anyone who has struggles in life; If I could do it, I am sure you can do it and have a wonderful life! Sure, we all have our downs, but it is important to get up again, and only you can do it! Life is very short, so while we are still here, we gotta make the best of it. Thank you very much, Wintergatan, for everything! Much love from the netherlands❤

I feel so lucky for having been to this concert. It really was magical and this video helps me relive it. The CD they signed (well everyone but Evelina who understandably needed to go lie down after the concert) is a prized possession of mine. I'm guessing they might be too famous for small venues like this when they get back on tour.
In some cultures beeing pregnant is nothing special, and not treated like a handicap. It is not necessary to comment that as beeing a huge achievement... i would rather congratulate her on her abilities on the instrument. What i mean to say is that beeing pregnant at home on a chair or on stage in front of a piano does not make a huge difference most of the time.
zoolkhan people tend to try to stay safe and take a pregnancy break from work in my country. Only some very dedicated women keep working in their last pregnancy months

Linked to here from the Marble Machine video, then immediately bought the Wintergatan CD on Amazon! Rarely, VERY rarely, the internet serves you up something utterly entrancing right out of the blue... watched the concert twice now and I'm still smiling! :)
This music.. its.. something else.. This isnt just music Wintergatan, you produce feelings to millions out there. A song with this type of feeling is, wonderful! I someday wish to produce music like you, you are an inspiration to all of us Martin 😃
I'm 66 and just can't tell you how much I appreciate a new step in my musical evolution and appreciation. Thanks SOO MUCH my "musical friend"! Keep up the AWESOME work...!
Its also available in 4K by the way if you wanna go Hires
as soon as TH-cam gets around to finishing the rendering anyway, it's only up to 1440p atm :P
Wintergatan you are a genius! i'm italian and i follow you...
you invented a new kind of music...thank you very much!
probably thats the highest it will go i just realised!
Wintergatan i really like how you treat your fans! you are a good guy....i hope i will meet you...in a concert!
Wintergatan please com to hamburg in germany i really want to see you live performing 😄(sorry for the bad english)
I thought I'll just see the first 10 mins and I'll leave..... I was wrong... I saw the whole thing. 1 hour spent well. Wundebar!
my thought exactly yet I demand more! the sound they create absolutely beyond my imagination.
im watching the whole video for the 3rd time :O
its so freaking good!
@@Amorel86 yea second or third time, and I should know better than to listen to it before bedtime, because I get so wired and energized!! Love it!!
Yup...me too!
Bin auch auf gutem Weg dahin.
Today I have discovered Wintergaten, it is a good day :)
Same here, I just realized Wintergatan was actually a band. All this time I thought it was just the name of the Marble Machine TH-cam channel :)
That's my story too! Wintergatan is pure gold!
same here!!
yeah it really distorts my perception i have of martin. I started watching him because of the marble machine, but you really can't grasp his full musical prowess or career unless you really look for it. He is a truly incredible musician and so creative and imaginative. It's hard to catch on to that just watching him essentially as an engineer work on the marble machine.
2022 and this is showing up in my feed, amazing. Thank You.
this concert is the most beautiful and pure thing I've ever listened to. absolute genius. the intuition over how the instruments operate, the communication between band members. the shared experience between band members and audience members. even in performance, it is apparent that both the musicians and the audience enjoy what they are hearing/doing. the entire experience is both tactile and audibly mesmerising.
Perfectly said!
I never go to concerts but if Wintergatan come to southamerica I will definitely go to enjoy their music, otherwise now I have a real reason to visit Europe.
This Sound ist soo Special!
It was a good time! To add to it all it was a "picnic concert" so everyone in the audience had brought their own food and drink to the venue. So it was all very cozy and lovely even before the music started :)
Sommarfågel is in absolute one of my favorite songs ever. It's so dreamy... Cheers guys, you are the best.
And is a good excuse to watch HP movies again :D
Absolutely truth
Agree.
Anyone else watching here in 2021 with me? Glad I found this amazing band! Therapeutic and divine 👌🇵🇭
Sorry no, I'm from the future, watching in 2022.
🖐️
Still one of the best live performances I've seen in decades.
I can see this vid year by year and still makes me laugh, cry and dance with closed eyes and open soul. Cant get enough of people making LOVE with music. Thanks.
pd: I f**king miss you Martin.
the typewriter, the diy music box, the "moldulin"... it's all too charming. i normally try to get other things done when listening to music but i couldn't stop staring at the screen for the past 1 hour 7 minutes.
also i like how you are all wearing plain black so that people can concentrate on the important matter: music.
There aren't that many good instrmental bands around these days. I think your music has much of the spirit of what Mike Oldfield did in the 70's. I enjoyed this very much. Tusen tack!
Looking around to see if anyone else noticed the theramin being played in the last encore around 1:02 ?? Soo cool!
The musicianship in this is extraordinary. These guys rule
I, for one, would like to thank the crazy amazing musicians and the Ai overlords that recommended this fine work
You guys are awesome and your music is just the shot in our musical veins that this world needs right now.
the whistling was hauntingly beautiful!!
Lord Voldemort is the best whistler. :)
@johan HAHAHAHA, best comment on here.
Jace Beleren :)
Cards for everyone!
I sounds great for a Spaghetti Western movie! :D
What a band! so many talents out there and not appear on the mainstream but this band is going to break through sooner or later.
........ You people must be angels. Bringing us some prelude to heaven it seems.....
During these dark days, this makes me feel so much better.... Thank you Wintergatan!
The performance of "All was well" is an absolute gem!
Included in my bucketlist... "See Wintergatan live"
What instrument do you play?
I play the backspace button
playing it live is a LOT harder than playing it in the studio tho...and you cant say he didnt nail it..
I play the blank button. It's silent, played during breaks.
And I do it damn well
I don't think so

For god sake this is one of the best pieces of modern art I've ever heard.
ABBA, Roxette and now Wintergatan. I've born in the wrong place.
You forgot first aid kit
Did you just miss Ace of Base?
@@MinekEzQM hahahah yes
Wish Wintergatan could tour to middle America! I'd like to bring everyone I know to a fantastical Wintergatan concert!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT...❤❤❤ Houston Texas, 🇨🇱🤠
Here I have been typing since High School just to find out now, some 40 years later, that I am a musician!! Loved this concert!
The human live version of The Marble Machine is just magical, the drum, the bass the vibraphone... eargasm.
Over the 4 years since this video was put out I watched it countless times. And once more. This is very addictive music. It sounds happy.
Pregnant lady killin it! Her baby won't believe he stared in a live concert before even being born
And came out tapping it's little foot to the beat and grabbing for some drum sticks before a milk bottle.
this is the happiest music I've ever heard. bravo.
This is beyond world class music ! It is celestial class ! Incredible compositions in a class of their own. The instrumentals dropped out of a ufo flying above the earth. The marble machine is beyond anything that aliens know and only Wintergatan has it and the technology behind it. Thank you guys and gal for blowing me away once again ! A friend always !
This is possibly the most beautiful combination of artistic creativity with the rigid and soulless, yet endlessly diverse, nature of modern machinery.
How have I not seen this until now!! Love the creativity
Fabulous music ... full of charms, melodies, fantastic and bitterness ... yes yes yes
What can I say. Wintergatan makes me very happy. Wednesdays are now my favorite day of the week.
I'm obsessed! The autoharp, glockenspiel, accordion, typewriter, music box, whistling...I love the idea of making music incorporating the beauty of distinct sounds. And that electronic synth zither(?)! I'd love to see if you might add some more unique percussion instruments in the future. Thank you for your vision and spectacular sound!
Who are the 413 people that thumb down this; this is pure genius and phenomenal. Bravo!
The Marble Machine is a fabulous melody. I can almost hear some new wave band doing this with lyrics in the '80's. The melody gets under your skin. Wonderful.
I don’t know what it is about this band but my 6 year old will not stop listening to this
These songs are so beautiful they even made me cry.

This is so beautiful. Just found Martin and Wintergatan today. I'm sure the Marble Machine is happy to be touring, now. Such genius.
I was amaze of the marble Machine! But after seeing you in concert... I see the real talent it takes to make a marble machine. I love the typewriter as an instrument...
As a fellow percussionist i really appreciate this work
What a fine fellow you are!
I'm totally mind blown! I was in an other galaxy for one hour. Bravo and thank you!
Спасибо за Вашу музыку. Я ваш подписчик. (Thank you for your music. I'm your subscriber.)
5:47 Keeps going as he drops the instrument on his shoulder. What a beast.
Beast and genius. And did you notice he tuned a string in the pause before that last crashing chord on the last note of the last song? Genius.
The energy you can see them put into their playing is incredible and very fun to watch - oh and not to mention their music is among the finest in the world!
Swedish Creativity, Freethinking, audacity, Hardworking, all in one, what a wonderful band you have created!
Потрясающая музыка и ее исполнение!!!! Море удовольствия! Спасибо вам!!!! *) Wow! It`s so wonderful!!
OH MY GOSH I CAN'T STAND TOO MUCH PLEASURE FOR MY EARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am definetly in love with that, just laughing out loud, crying and pushing my headphones against my ears...
and you even covered one of my favorite songs, giorgio by moroder...
i wish i could have money enough to travel and go wherever you play a live...
grateful love from spain xx
I think I'm in love with you 😍😉
I cry every time I hear it.....I guess if I listen to it too many times I will end up dehydrated lol. It sends me into a state of pure euphoria....no one can be around when I play it because they would think I was ready for the looney bin 😊 Love from Florida! 💗💗💗💗
Okay, i am not alone with that ;)
The only time I've ever experienced something similar is seeing Vojtech Janda. th-cam.com/video/nS1YORJrd_E/w-d-xo.html

Simply WOW !!!
from Quebec Canada
I had not heard the marble machine song played with the band before bloody brilliant!
This is so dreamy and has a very relaxing soothing sound and is out of this world such as the Milky Way Galaxy. New Age at its finest.
I feel so lucky for having been to this concert. It really was magical and this video helps me relive it. The CD they signed (well everyone but Evelina who understandably needed to go lie down after the concert) is a prized possession of mine. I'm guessing they might be too famous for small venues like this when they get back on tour.
Great concert! Thanks for sharing. And, please, come to the UK.
I'm deeply impressed with Evelina Hägglund for being able to do concerts in spite of being really pregnant.
goldug .. lol, I thought she drinks a lot of water, and therefore, has a big stomach.
I said to my gf "that kid is going to rock when it grows up"... does anyone know if this child is the next prodigy?
I am amazed- to someone that is 68 years old I think that there is yet music being made, Thanks.........
Watched the Haldern Pop footage and have noticed the entire band's stage presence, instrumentation and performance has evolved and tightened 1000%.
Have you watched first band with Martins brother Detektivbyrån ?
Why hasn't anyone said anything about Evelina? She's performing while pregnant! That's amazing!
Dunno what to say about. Happy that Wintergatan is expanding(?)
People have. This is pretty much exactly the same as 5 other comments that I've seen.
Her feet must have felt flat and bloated at the end of the concert....
Amazing gig by the whole band!
Greetings from Mexico! i hope i can one day go to one of your concerts, i would truly enjoy it, your music is like being in an endless road filled with joy and all sorts of surprises, it's so soothing too!
