2 points about Acuna v Betts for MVP-
    1. Acuna has a record never achieved-and it’s a record with merit.
    2. Look at Acura’s batting average for each month. Betts has had a hot August but Acuna has been hot all year.

yea, Acuña Jr. deserves this… his on base percentage….. just look at how many runs the braves score in the first inning….. and who has been the guy up to to bat in every one of those first innings… i think runs are valuable… and the “bigger bases” thing is crap…. then why doesn’t mookie steal more? Mookie is not better than Trout. He is an incredible, guaranteed future HOFer, and one of my favorite players. But he is not better than Trout. People seem to be losing track of just how incredible Trout really is based on his lack of support and recent injury issues (which aren't as severe as people make them out to be - compare to someone like Harper for example). Trout is a top 5 CF all time. And possibly already a top 20 player all time. Or in that region. Mookie is not that type of player. He is a no doubt HOFer when all is said and done. He is not an inner circle guy like that. Only 2-3 guys per generation are that. Trout, Pujols, maybe Ohtani depending on how much longer he can 2-way are those hitters. And then the big 3 pitchers.

  • @jimharper2180

Coming from a diehard Dodgers fan, Mookie has not had a career better than Mike Trout's. If one makes a comparison between Mookie's career so far with Trout's career through his age-30 season, one can easily see the difference is quite substantial.
    Trout: 1.002 OPS, 176 OPS+, 350 homeruns, 896 RBI, 1407 games
    Betts: .902 OPS, 138 OPS+, 251 homeruns, 747 RBI, 1241 games

They're equal to doubles, and all of those stats are put together into OPS and WRC, which Betts is higher in. The only thing Acuna has over betts is the stolen bases and batting avg. Betts is better in every other individual stat. Betts even has more RBIs than Acuna even though they're both leadoff hitters and Acuna's team is more stacked. Better players on his team and yet Acuna still has less rbis.

What record did he break? And who held it? You don't know the answer because 30/60 was never a thing. It's a made up combo, where neither number is even half the record.

@@Itsme-wp8yc No. Its a bullshit stat that nobody is going to care about or track, after this year. They are competing stats. No top homerun hitter will ever challenge the steal record, and no top stealer will ever challenge the homerun record. They are fundamentally different types of players. And as someone who thinks Acuna does deserve the mvp, concentrating on this nonsense takes away from his season where he's been consistently great at avg, obp, ops, slugging, rbi's, runs scored, war, ..etc. Better than Mookie, except for August. Betts is the modern day Hank Aaron. I bet Betts plays well until he's 40. 3000 hits, 500 home runs, 10 plus gold gloves, 4 WS titles, 110 WAR and 3 MVP's by the time his career is over. I would even take a healthy Bryce Harper over Trout currently.

I love Mookie, he's going to be a first ballot HOF player, but he isn't Trout. Yes Trout has had injuries the last few seasons, but he had 40hrs in less than 120 games last year, and let's be honest the Angel's are an injury prone organization, I don't blame it all on Trout.

And there is no more of a class act than Mookie Betts. Forget about player for a sec, just an all around great human being. But Acuna for as much as I hate to say may have the MVP edge.
