The reason the rear brakes were out faster than the front one is due to the excessive use by the adaptive cruise control. Prefers the back breaks to avoid nose diving.
I cry at the end of every Motormouth video. Okay, so I don't actually 😢 but Andrea and Zack are so likeable and fun to listen to. Their videos cheer me up all the time! Keep up the good work, Motormouths! 😁
We have a 2019 VW Atlas with the V6 and it has been very good to us as a family of 5 with 3 car seats. We got the top model with the bench seat as you can fit 3 car seats across and leave them Installed and still get into the 3rd row. So far we love it ❤
Rear brakes often wear out first because many manufacturers program trail braking into their traction control. This is very helpful for aggressive driving while turning where the rear brakes keep the car from over-steering. This is my experience with the Hondas I've owned.
I have 2019 Atlas SE technology and the V6. 108000 miles. Had to have the driver seat bottom reupholstered, understandable, but in al other areas it has been stellar. Zero issues, better than the Outback I had before.
Always appreciate and enjoy all of the great information you provide from "A to Z" ! Regarding the interior looks of the new RAV4, Zak is spot on. It will certainly win the frumpy dumpy award yet again. 🤡
A brake wear anecdote: 2007 Prius, sold at 146,000 miles. Md. state inspection found original ft pads and rear drum lining at 50%. Having always reached for the dash mounted brake lever before the pedal, that’s the power of hybrid regeneration.
Hi Zack saw your 2021 escape hybrid titanium trim review - needed additional car so opt for this with 34500 miles and out the door paid $22700 car is CPO by ford - eventually planning to pass to my 16 year old in about year and half ( other car we have 2023 Honda odyssey ) - thank you for the review.
Thanks for making this! There has been a lot of accountability missing for those that contributed to all the failures. Since all the buses have or should have GPS, I don't understand why better route planning can't be created. This is also tied to the need of improving scheduling for drivers. Hopefully the system will gradually improve, as the users and taxpayers expect a good service for all, not just certain parts of the city.
On Atlas, I bought my 2024 after trying everything available at the time. At 6’5”, I found the Grand Highlander to be poorly configured for tall people. Atlas had the most driver room. Tech was nice, feels like good build quality for the price. Driver’s room was a major factor for me so that leaned my decision. Traverse and Explorer weren’t out yet when I bought.
Paper and scissor is not my favourite but it’s fun once a while! I think all those gas models will be gone and replace with the hybrid, plug in hybrid and hydrogen hybrid as well as TV commercial was mentioned. Great show Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻☕️☕️
My 2022 Taos had a coolant issue within the first 5000kms, but I was told it was from being new and the break-in. It was topped up and no problems ever again over 20,000kms. However, although my Taos Comfortline had Hill Hold, and I DID have the rear brakes go around 10,000kms. They made the worst noise I’ve ever heard, I had to use engine braking until I could get it to the dealer. It was a known defect, they replaced the pads under warranty, no problem whatsoever. Apparently the pads spec’d were defective.
Rear brake wear is a real thing with Ford e-locker rear ends. Unlike other systems, the trucks use the brakes to control wheelspin. Not uncommon to need rear pads around 40K while the fronts are still fine. Since the system is pretty automatic, you won't notice it. Had a long driveway and while I don't have a heavy foot, the system was working anytime I was driving up it.

re rear brakes wearing out sooner, We had an 01 TDI Golf and also a 2011 BMW 1 series. Both cars were rear brake bias for one reason or another and went at around 40k. The BMW had fronts last almost 125k
Increased rear brake wear is sometimes due to making extended use of cruise-control (I experienced this on a BMW). Also, given how well-dressed Andrea always is - and how huge her wardrobe appears to be… good luck with finding a big enough warehouse in Vancouver!! 😊
Those Trax are selling well, that's all I see selling at my dealership. I wish the Equinox had the 2.0T & non CVT on FWD...beautiful model 😍 I want a Silverado Custom, but that 2.7T seems too small for a full sized pickup truck 😅
I have a 2022 Jetta and I had the rear brakes replaced under warranty by the dealer and since their are many shared components between these vehicles you should inquire about this. I'm in Ontario. It was considered premature wear.

I am anxious and curious about the new Rav4, love my 2021 XSE Hybrid (which i have paid off) but worried i may want to trade in if the new one looks really good, lol. Not sure if i would want to do payments again.
I have a MINI Countryman, and the rear brakes have worn at twice the rate of the front brakes. I assumed the car is using the rear brakes to control the cruise control speed on downhill sections (I live near the mountains). I had even wear when I had a VW Golf.
Chevy removing unnecessary parts from cars and improving reliability......sounds like they are learning from the Toyota Production System, which is great to hear😊.
This past weekend returned to Ford since my 2003 Ford Explorer. Traded a 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6 with 91k miles. Purchased a 2025 Explorer ST. 84 miles, most obtained from drive from dealer. Went to garage next day and received a Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power notification on the dash on the Ford App. WTH? Perhaps Ford should include a Forscan code reader w/spare tire!
Both Me and my friend bought the 2021 Rav4 hybrid new for our wife’s. My friend Rav4 as already had the hybrid cable corrosion issue. So worried now my Rav4 is going to have the same corrosion issue. Toyota Canada said the issue was fixed in the 2021 model but that was BS
They never indicated the issue was fixed on the 2021 models, 2022 or 2023 if memory serves was when they fixed it. Hopefully you do not get the issue, my 2021 XSE has been fine so far
My fathers 2022 q3 komfort needed the rear brakes replaced at ~40k km. That car is 8sp auto and no adaptive cruise or anything… not sure what’s happening
Hopefully the new RAV4 will have a MAX hybrid option. I’m not a fan of compromising everything in order to get slightly better fuel economy like the regular hybrid with CVT has.
My VW Golf R (2017) is similar to the Taos in that the rear brake pads wear long before the front brake pads. To the extent of 10mm left on the front pads when there was only 1mm on the rear. My unscientific theory is that VW engineers have done this to better balance the vehicle under braking. Perhaps you might ask them on another trade event.
GM has an issue with rear brakes on the latest 1500"s ,the parking brake system causes premature wear on rear pads . Problem is ,because brakes are considered a wear item they have so far, not helped . probably the same issue with Volkswagen .
Have had 3 RAV 4's. Totally trouble free over 18 years of ownership. Only moved away because I needed a pickup truck. Would always recommend the Toyota.

You said a lot of good things about the Rav 4. What about the Corolla Cross? Im in the process of starting to look around. Corolla Cross is cheaper, is it due to the smaller size?
Yes the Corolla Cross is in the subcompact class so it's a more affordable option but it's smaller. We like the Corolla Cross hybrid a lot but find the steering to be vague on that model. The Corolla Cross gas model gets quite loud in the cabin when accelerating quickly just like the RAV4 gas model, so we recommend the hybrid for both models.

Hi all. When you speak with Chevrolet, tell them that we are willing to sacrifice a bit of rear leg room for a bigger trunk. All they needed in the current model is adjusting rear seats to move them forward.
my 2017 civic SI rear brakes wear out 2 as fast as my front brakes. They are also teenie wienie...I think too small for the car...maybe they are too small on the Taos also.
three row suvs and atlas should have models that maximize second row leg room. almost all maximize trunk. if you maximize second and third row room, you can always fold them. how awesome if you have 60 inches leg room. Why not? The cars big enough. Instead you have same leg room as civic in a 3 row suv.
Any car is good for the first 3 years. The problem is after the 3 year period. I have a 8 years old Honda with no rust whatsoever, and I drive sometimes an 9 years old Dodge with the paint cracking open from rust everywhere, so that’s the problem with the domestic cars

German cars have a more level braking (pulling to a stop), versus others that nose-dive on braking when biased to the fronts... hence, on German cars the rear brakes tend to need replaced more often than the fronts...
I can attest to this. My 2023 BMW 330i wore the rear pads faster than the front. My previous 2018 was the same, I replaced the rear pads and never changed the front in 4 years.
I've had 3 Mercedes C300s since 2015 and the rear brakes all have worn out sooner than the fronts. On two of the cars I never did need to do the fronts.
I watched one of those towing company channels here and someone asked what brands of new cars they most often tow (they have contracts to do roadside assist) and their response was Stellantis and GM 🤷♂️
My 07 Chevy 2500 hd 4x4 gas 6.0 with 198000 has ben reliable no mechanical issues. I do Love all the trash talking in the comment all way good for a laugh.
The RAV4 hybrid lovers who can’t wait for the new model should just buy the Mazda CX50 hybrid. It has the Toyota hybrid engine, and there’s no worries about an all new model and possible glitches like the new Toyota may have.
I don't quite understand the hate for Chevrolet (GM). I've owned GM vehicles for over 30 years (Chevy, Pontiac, Saturn, Cadillac). I never had any problems. Meanwhile, a certain Korean brand(s) has constant engine/ transmission problems & no one even brings it up. They come out with new technology all the time without proper testing. Also, some technology they use, no one else uses because it's not good. But they have a 100K warranty because you WILL need it.
The Koreans HAD problems. Past tense. They've long since surpassed GM. Wanna talk about current problems? Let's look at Toyota and Honda. That'll be fun!
Lets talk about nissan future! V6 for 2026 pathfinder and frontier? will toyota bring back a V6 for tacoma? With shitty sales of the tacoma here in the usa.
Volkswagen building a massive battery plant in St Thomas Ontario. Why in gods name would they not bring in more VW battery/plug in models to North America.
Let’s see what happens with these battery plants, Northvolt in Sweden just went bankrupt and their plant in Quebec might be on hold. The EV market is in over supply mode, reminds me of the cannabis boom and bust.
Hmm I wonder if the XT4s were going to be orders to China and now they don't need the extras cause their economy is cooling from the American company exodus that has been happening. Could be they didn't want to risk getting overstocked on that model if it's popular overseas someplace. I hope they go make a 70s 80s style big luxury sedan just for kicks. Cadillac should be making what Chevy can't. Something bigger and better that the show offs will love.
Hopefully not as boxy as the rav4 I hate the grand highlander looks too what was Toyota thinking when they did that .my brother looked at the grand but purchased a new Lexus Tx which looks better which it’s based off of
First Question I will never own a GM product again no matter how good they are, back in 2005 I got a new Malibu and in less than 1 week the car was back in the shop and it took them 2 weeks to fix the issue, and one summer I was driving the car and the temp gauge went to overheat and took it back and they couldn't find any problem. it seems the vehicle has two fans and one fan didn't turn on to cool the engine and I explain this to the service ref and also to GM and they kept telling me that's normal so I drove car and said if the engine blows up your fault and at the end of the lease I gave it back and walked over to the Honda dealer picked up my new Accord and said I am finished with GM cars and friend who's a retired GM engineer.
The reason the rear brakes were out faster than the front one is due to the excessive use by the adaptive cruise control. Prefers the back breaks to avoid nose diving.

Yep. Same on my Audi's.
Sounds like Chevy discovered Kaizen :)
The equinox has a 1,5 liter turbo engine . Nah
The average joe doesn't care and that why it sells
The only reason the tracks sell so good it's because it's a cheap car it's not a car you want for a long-term
Taos brakes are bad from adaptive cruise control.
What happened to Zac's eye?
He has a burst blood vessel, he's okay but it doesn't look good. It's happened before.
If the interior quality of a Chevy isn't compromised to elevate Buick, I may give them a look for my next lease.
WIll look like the tacoma
I wish the new RAV4 would look like a baby Land Cruiser.
Lets talk about nissan future!
V6 for 2026 pathfinder and frontier?
will toyota bring back a V6 for tacoma? With shitty sales of the tacoma here in the usa.
V6 likely going away for the Pathfinder in 26, no Toyota isn’t bringing back the V6 IMO.
@magnoliap5824 we will see.....
@ Agree. At least VW has cars being made that need batteries like the ID4
If you’re thinking about the Rav4 hybrid but don’t like the interior and don’t want to wait for the redesign, there’s always the Mazda CX-50 hybrid.
If you’re keeping a car for a long time why are you worried about resale? Get the Sportage. 😂
Used 2019 Forester for $19k CAD. Lost almost half the value.
5 years old model
That was what the dealer was asking on the website. For a 5-year old Japanese SUV to be about $13-15k trade-in is terrible.
Andrea next time use dynamite when playing rock, paper, scissors 😂😂😂
Rav4 will be even more ugly, Toyota trademark.
Unfortunately the RAV4 interior looks so dated.
conservative
"It is freezing here" Haha... Come on, It is green grass around you. Here in Edmonton is -17, feels like -26 today....
brrrrrr
The new Rav4 will look like every other damn truck-like SUV 😢
Sure will
