I was really expecting a scary horror Christmas movie and was really hoping to see that Santa Claus from the book. But this was so much better 😆! It was wholesome and sweet while also suspenseful. It took a turn in a direction that I did not anticipate. I loved that they trained the elves to be mini Santa's and then ship them off as literal rare exports. 10/10 😆!
Would be so cool if they could tell an expansion in the universe with like Easter bunnies, tooth fairies really anyone of them that could be profitable.

Cuz yall swear ebery.mediocre horror movie is "underrated" these days and really most are average to good at best and were properly rated....and its horror not drama or sumn like that, most horror fans usually get the good and great movies from throughout the decades as its just tht type of genre....but lemme guess movies like Event Horizon, which was unfairly called terrible but it was at most average even tho i like it and thts the issue with horror recently, everyone thinks if they like the movie surely it was greater than wht was said lol most horror movie are unfortunately just ok

If people were scared enough of something to build a mountain on top of it, then that's a pretty good sign not to mess with it.
The scene where elves are taught to be Santas reminded me of a soviet cartoon Морозики морозы, where Santas are hatched and taught to do their job by Snowman.
Firstly, this movie looks awesome, and secondly, god is it refreshing to have the parents believe this shit too; I mean, I know they don't right away, but even when they don't believe it's Santa, they still do stuff, and that is just so fantastic. Even some good movies have the 'parents won't believe supernatural if it slapped them' bullshit.

This is probably one of the most underrated Christmas movies out there. Probably because it's foreign and just hasn't had the marketing it deserves. Since it came out, I rewatch it every Christmas. If you can find it, it is definitely worth your time and money.

My dad made me watch this as a kid and I had nightmares because of the kids had the same exact name as me and I had never meet anyone else with my name so it scared the shit out of me, great film I highly recommend
I’d love to see a sequel about the elves and their arcs; some being good and some turning evil OR them being so obedient and easily influenced that they are taken advantage of to commit crimes or good deeds
This was an amazing take on genre. Loved it. Spooky but not too cliche. And that ending was perfect.
You just unlocked a weird childhood memory for me, because when I was a child, I always used to go looking through the horror section of the iTunes Store and I remember coming across this movie and for the life of me I couldn’t remember the name because I wanted to watch it years later, so thank you very much for doing a video on this film

omg, a movie from my country!! i love hearing people pronounce the names and places, since the language is what it is 🤣 i remember when this movie came out, i wasn’t allowed to watch it bc it was supposed to be scary. i’m 25 now and still haven’t watched it to this day 🤣 so thank you for this video, good to know what the movie was about! hyvää joulua or happy christmas!
Oh, it's really not that scary; it's more uplifting because it's the classic hero's journey tale of a boy finding his courage. It's really a great flick.

I was obsessed with this movie when it came out; a lot of us Americans have been fed up with Hollywood for a while and seek entertainment from other countries. I have been following Jorma Tommila ever since and watch anything he puts out! His recent movie, Sisu, is awesome!

I love foreign fairytales and folklore to see such stark differences in how different people tell and perceive traditional stories. It looks like Finnish Santa is American Krampus? Except Krampus was clearly sold to us as a demon who was Santa’s nemesis. “…he doesn’t come to give, but to take…” …I love that movie BTW. (There’s a horror movie made about the Tooth Fairy too… “dark” something, anyway that’s a good one too. )
A tooth fairy horror sounds funny and honestly pretty neat. I imagine the tooth fairy isn’t too hard to make creepy when you think about it, why is this mystical creature collecting teeth? And how does it have money to leave? It’s already a good set up for some weird things to happen

It's a bit worse than krampus.
A The northern finnish version just straight up eats children. And korvatunturi was thought to be made from the skulls of the children it had eaten covered in dirt.
This one is right up there with "The Hallow" for me as far as folklore movies go. I love ones that show original fairy tales as what they REALLY were, which was cautionary tales to keep children from actions that might endanger them.
