For example the little red riding hood or the rumpelstiltskin. My favourite one is the pied pieber of hamelin "der Rattenfänger von Hamelin" as the ending is realy dark.
Finnish christmas is celebrated at 24th, it's the day for eating the christmas dinner and opening presents. The 25th is spent with either family or kids playing with neighbors with their new toys. Edit. The saw dust is because it keeps ice very well. Common to see lots of ice far into the summer if you dig under a big enough pile of saw dust. Edit 2. This movie is also based on 2003 short with same name that are actually really good, highly recommend! It has 2005 sequal "Safety Instructions"-

Rare Exports is actually based off a short film of the same name. Basically the guys going out to hunt Father Clause. I also heard someone once say. Die Hard is the absolute worse Christmas movie, as a Christmas movie it is down right unwatchable...As an action film its pretty good.
The keys being held while trying to stay awake could be an attempt at an alarm of sorts perhaps, as if the keys fall into the bowl they would make noise to wake him back up?

People dressed as Nuuttipukki would roam from house to house demanding treats. Nuuttipukki is more of a trickster than Krampus but some of the historical outfits are pretty horrifying
Lore accurate Santa Claus is supposed to be Finnish. Something my Finnish partner won't shut up about. Historically, accurate Santa Claus is Turkish. Something I keep reminding her about.

I first heard of Oscilloscope in 2006 when they made a video for a Beastie Boys MSG Concert called, "Awesome I Fucking Shot That". they armed 50 random concert goers with handheld cams to film whatever they wanted during the concert and footage was added to the professional recorded scenes of the band performing, giving the feeling of being the audience.

In Finnish folklore, this is actually the Joulupukki, a giant being associated with the winter solstice that would come to homes or villages demanding that the children be good or face punishment. Similar to Krampus, yes, but different origin and design. As for what the punishment was, from what I understand it depends on the times and who you choose to believe as the adoption of Christianity in Finland lead to the Joulupukki becoming a gift giving being, ultimately becoming Santa. Read here and there that he kidnapped children and kept them away from their parents for the remainder of their lives. Some say he'd eat them, and some say he'd beat them. It's really not clear. We're talking hundreds of years where the passing of knowledge goes from oral to written after the myths and legends are already likely screwed up. All in all, it's similar but not quite Krampus. A more feral, wild, untamed spirit of winter. Edit: Mind you all, I'm going off info I read at least a couple of years prior, and I haven't looked into is since, so more information is likely out now. The Christmas goat does not predate Santa in Finnish folklore. Christmas is a very early holiday, coming in around 300ad. About 200 years before the establishment of what would become the Nordic and Scandinavian Norse religions.

I am from Iceland and I can confirm all the Christmas tales are messed up, look into the Yule Lads and their family, not really a nice bunch. Also most of us in the Nordics celebrate and open gifts on the 24th usually eating around 6pm (18) when Christmas "starts."
A witch and a demon, both of which with soul purpose to punish naughty kids... so they have a bunch of kids who just go around being naughty, so human kids get blamed, get in trouble, and their parents (the witch and demon) can punish the human kids through the use of bureaucratic loopholes. Sounds perfectly normal to me. Its exactly the same as the IRS.
