- An interview with the star of Corrie, Heartbeat, Keeping Up Appearances and The Royle Family recorded in the run up to Absolutely Frank at the Oldham Coliseum. He discusses his role in Absolutely Frank, his career in television and theatre, his return to theatre and the North West, as well as his plans for the future.

i miss this man. he was funny as Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances and Twiggy in the Royle Family. of course he's known for many more roles but those were the 2 shows i knew him for best. a very good actor.

It's really interesting to listen to him speak as "Geoffrey Hughes." He was a very intelligent man, and certainly not lazy like Onslow.

Rather odd that very few people actually mention his role as Vernon Scripps in "Heartbeat" because that was his longest lasting TV role, and also his best.

Onslow was just an older Eddie Yates, same as Twinky in the royal family.

I love the character Onslow in "Keeping Up Appearances", love the show! Geoffrey seems to be a pleasant, friendly man. From interviews with Judy Cornwell he was a bit of a prankster on set. RIP Onslow

When Hilda gave Stan and Eddie money to buy paint for the front door and they spent it in the pub.Eddie who worked on the bins said he had tins of paint he had secured. The trouble was they ran out of paint before they finished the door so they mixed up the rest . Hilda not pleased at the result to say the least. Corrie street has lost its appeal for me since characters like Eddie,Hilda and Stan are no longer with us Is Jean Alexander ,Hilda still alive .

Always be Eddie yates to me and that same character he tool and played as Twiggy in 'the royal family.He also played a very similar Eddie yates in 'Heartbeat"Come to think of it he's not a versatile actor always seems to play himself
