- He’s the epitome of TV ‘Royle-ty’ - Ricky Tomlinson is going to be treading the boards as he joins the cast of a musical comedy ‘Irish Annie’s’. He’lll be giving us the latest on ‘Royle Family’ reunion rumours, how he still gets mistaken for his beloved character Jim, and ahead of the Oscars, he’ll also be recounting the time he had a conversation with nominee Robert De Niro… and didn’t recognise him!

We were lucky enough to interview Ricky at his home after he had written a book called “Searching for the Rock Island Line”. He was so welcoming and lovely and made us both a cuppa. So down to earth and full of fun. What a guy.
Ricky Tomlinson will always be a Legend, I was fortunate to have met him, shook his hand and had a picture with him at a Show in my Home town in Galway, Ireland.
So down to earth, what a lovely man, deserves all the luck in the world. Top lad ricky

I could listen to him tell stories all day!
Met Ricky when I was a Redcoat at Butlins. He was doing a mini stage tour and telling funny stories. Such a lovely bloke, no ego whatsoever. Gave me a huge hug and a study handshake, whilst sipping his Tesco blue-stripe can of lager. He's exactly what you see on screen in person. Top man! Such a warm and welcoming disposition.

I get that they can't do another Royle Family without Caroline. But a Jim and Barbara pilot or even a series would be great. Craig Cash could write that. The grandkids could pop by. Cheryl could be a lodger after she's lost both parents now. Antony could pop round, and his Son could make the tea. Dave could be a deliveroo driver. Jim could have a carer to pop his farmers back in!! 🤔😂

saw Ricky in a hotel one night having a meal with others we were on next table, wife said go get a photo i said no dont want to bother him.... he stood up too leave and a hour later had not got out of the room spoke to everyone,,,,,,what a true gent a perfect normal man who feels blessed with what he has
I've loved Ricky since I first saw him in a Ken Loach film (names escapes me just now) in the late 1980s. The Royle Family used to make me weep with laughter. I'm Australian, but the area where I grew was a textile-producing region populated almost entirely by people from Northern England (included my own Nan, who was born just outside of Newcastle). In the late '70s, they shut down all the mills, which led to all the negative socio-economic consequences you might expect. 😒 As a result, I've always resonated more strongly with shows like the Royle Family and movies like 'Brassed Off' and 'The Full Monty' than with most Australian comedy. Ricky is one of my heroes.

love the royal family , prob the most underrated comedy/drama of all time but they should of left it alone after nana died (queen of sheeba)..,for me , every episode was worse and worse after . they all became caricatures of their original performances which were some of the best you will see ,. genius writing , acting.. first few seasons / flawless

The presenters are childish…unpleasant to watch…and lack any kind of professional expertise…they are simply so far up themselves they are almost inside out…they distract from the guests and put themselves on show instead…
