I drove a 99 1.0 55 hp B Corsa up until 2013. I only used it for short routes, and the car carried max. 2 persons. I never felt any lack of power. That car was also 840 kg, and it was easy to keep up with the traffic up to 100 km/h. I like "underpowered" cars because you learn how to use your momentum...:)

I don't know why but here in balkan, you can't find these kind of models. Only original diesels and turbo diesels. No GTI almost, and 1.3 model is really rare. Especially in this condition. Big respect.
my dad owned this but with 1.0 engine in black color. during my childhood he passed full engine reapir and dripping oil issue. when he went to the scrapyard a brake pedal literally broke on two pieces.. just like with our other VW (Polo III) A green one, randomly the timing belt jumped and the most of engine valves simply bent and it landed on scrapyard too but much later than Golf II..

You can find the first generation Hyundai i30 for video. Golf MK2 Epic car legendary, especially. Although I'm 20 years old I think it was extreme for his time

Since there is no tachometer, the only way to know what RPM the engine is doing is by hearing and feeling 😂
with reference markings on the speedo it's still easy to know when to shift
well my 91 mk2 1.6 75hp has a tachometer but after a year of driving I look at it only when I go beyond 5000 rpm

Own the 1.6, 1990, 69 HP version since 2016. It was a FCKN bargain for 1300 Euro. Still drive it today, and it never disappointed me.
