I saw an interview with Bill Hargreaves, who built IG-88 for Empire. He said that the request for a bounty hunter droid came rather last minute, and IG was hurriedly put together in a few hours, using scrap metal parts. Once built, they realized that the droid was over eight feet tall, weighed a "ton" and wouldn't fit on the set! That's why you can't see his feet in that scene, they had to stand him off the floor just to fit in frame!
One of the things I love about your videos is that you like the stuff you collect and let your happiness show. Too many people are overly negative. But at times it bugs me when you seems to have an issue with a thing and hold back. I'd still take positivity over negativity. But I also want to feel like we're getting candid takes that arent filtered down to all positivity. . So hearing you say "these feet can burn in hell" was pretty amazing. Keep being awesome.
Heh, don't get me wrong, I'm still putting it on the customizing desk and try to fix the feet and give it a paint job, make some lemonade out of lemons. It's a hobby, I enjoy doing that. But sometimes, yeah, it gets the best of me for an hour or two.
I love positivity but there’s nothing i hate more than forced positivity. Unparalleled Universe does this thing when he points out issues and he says “other people said _______ but im okay with it” all the time. So it makes it seem like he is the positive one. It’s okay to dislike some aspects of a figure
Thank you for pointing out the feet! You just saved me some money! For the IG units especially, the feet being good is an absolute must. You can get away with wonkier feet on a Starscream or Gundam, because those things at least fly or do dynamic poses. But with the IG units, they are _only_ gonna be standing or walking.
Robo! Figuarts Ahsoka head on the Mafex body not only does it fit perfectly, but it works way better than you'd think. My ideal Ahsoka right now. Love the reviews! Keep em coming!
Mine has issues standing too. Fiddled with it forever and I was able to get him standing and he hasn't fallen since! My Anzellans are currently nice and safe... inside BellyBomb's mouth! Oh, and yes, Star Wars Play Day soon please!!!
I'm so happy that you did a star wars review, its been a minute. honestly I'm passing on this guy because I'm just burnt-out on flawed droid design I almost missed out on the B2 but happy I snagged one, should've been 3 though. TBS is what got me into collecting but I have kind of fallen out of love with the line, most of the figures I paid full price for this year have been fan channel or store exclusive and its far less fun hunting. The con exclusives this year have looked great and something I would've bought a year or two ago but I already have too many B1's and Mauls.
It took me a bit to notice, but I DIG THAT SECRET GALAXY SHIRT! I have been thinking of getting one myself... it's nice to see representations of collector community. Plus, thanks again for another great vid.
Thank you for being constructively critical. Useful feedback is always welcome to ensure improvements and progression, especially as Hasbro is doing the best to alienate the community and ignore them.
I all most bought this one today. Walked around Walmart with it for 15 minutes thinking how I could make it 88 then decided to wait for a official one.
Wow, that's wild, mine has actually been standing perfectly since I unboxed it, I had zero problems with him falling and it's been over a week. I'm sure I've just jinxed myself here, I'm sure he'll be on the floor tomorrow morning
Hi Robo! This figure‘s torso is the same size as Mafex’s IG-11. So, I cut this one at the waist, leaving the peg inside the torso, then drilled a small hole, and attached the Mafex’s legs. I modified the head in a similar fashion and put a 3mm post in its place, and left the peg inside the Hasbro’s head, which I drilled a hole in. So the torso accepts both the modified Hasbro head or the Mafex one. And I can put the Hasbro in the Mafex torso.
I'm not really a Black Series guy, most of my SW stuff is Hot Toys, but maaaan that's too adorable to skip. Hasbro needs to put you on the payroll Robo 🤣
So, this isn't really what this video is about, but the rant at the end made me think about it. I picked up that Skeletor-Demogorgon 2-pack from Target, and the Demogorgon feet are huge, tree-root looking things (which is probably why the re-used them for Turtles of Grayskull Moss Man). You'd think that would mean that thing stands better than most MotU figures. But... I don't know if it's the giant, corpse-flower looking head on the thing or what, but it will stand rock-steady for weeks and then randomly fall over. The ankle joints, similar to this IG-12, are just kinda weird. They sit at a strange angle, and while they tilt back and forth fine, they don't really rock like I think they're designed to. It's frustrating.
A little bit unrelated, but my Professor Huyang doesn't like to stand worth a damn. His ankles and knees have tight detents, and in between those detents, it's loose as hell. I'm constantly in a battle of trying to get him to balance without his joints flopping around. Sometimes, he can hold up for weeks, and then one day, I'll walk into the room and find he's knocked over everything on my desk like dominos.
Robo sorry to see you’re experiencing this issue with the feet. It may be a manufacturing error, because mine has definite detents on both feet in the middle of the range of movement, as well as slightly larger detents forward and backward. It stands up solidly and has done for a week. I can even wobble the table it’s on and it’ll stay perfectly vertical! I’d say you should get it exchanged for another one and see if it’s better. A lot of these figures have annoying differences, for example I’ve got a clone trooper that has left foot that WILL NOT stay in the right place; instead there’s a big lump right in the middle of its range so it has to stand slightly leaned to the right all the time, plus my Clone Wars Darth Maul with the robot legs has detents on both feet that are slightly backwards from centre. It’s very frustrating. Fingers crossed Hasbro uses this as a basis for a new IG11 and 88, and they both have good feet!
“He was repurposed after he was blown to shit”…. Shakespeare couldn’t have put it better All in all Hasbro did make a few improvements, like the rubber elbow and knee covers being removed, the clamp hands that articulate, not much but not a lot of other black series have articulated hands/clamps and the overall size is a big improvement (pun happened, let’s move forward)
The concept is good. I did not expect to see this version of the figure. Baby Yoda should have soft goods. Even the 80s 3.75 in scale had a robe. We need a better Baby Yoda. It is so small. They are saving so much plastic. They should be painting the whole figure at that price. I would pick this up at discount or clearance.
I end up using stands for all my Black Series figs, as they all consistently have weaker ankles than their Marvel Legend and Gi Joe Classified counterparts.
I've had my IG-12 for a couple of weeks now and it's been sitting on my desk with no issues. I guess you just have to find that sweet spot and then don't touch it.
Haha you’re right. I said that meaning there doesn’t seem to be a solid reason as to the deluxe label or a 100% deluxe if the figure is (insert reason here)
Large wrecker - deluxe Rerelease with better paint and more sculpted detail for season 2 - regular figure New boba fett and Cobb vanth special paint applications -deluxe figure Updated return of the Jedi boba fett with same special paint application and way more accessories - regular figure No true reason it seems and would be easier to accept prices if there was a one true reason instead of flip flop
I think it's more "new sculpt and a lot of paint the first go, reuse gets standard." Maybe they aren't sure if the reuse will happen? I honestly have no clue haha.
is it a dumb question to ask why you are fighting the detents? They seem to imply he's designed to be posed walking, not standing still like the empire figure.
My dude even if it could manage that, if a figure is going to be stuck in one pose it might as well be a statue; why should people pay for articulation that doesn't actually work
I've seen this at Walmart and the R5 set at Target. I can wait for clearance. or Planet Overstock/Ross/Ollies. as for the feet, do you not have any poster putty/tack?
Hi Robo. It's not worth all that money if it cannot stand properly. Send it back and get a justified refund. That's just lazy and disrespectful from Hasbro, IMO.
I get it, but why is it that most of the time they make this character, they make him small and narrow, they should make him thicker . This way he can stand a lot better and be fragile.

Ooh. Nice shirt.
My favourite crossover this year, Robo wearing a Dan Larson Secret Galaxy tee. The multiverse is real 😂
Robo! Figuarts Ahsoka head on the Mafex body not only does it fit perfectly, but it works way better than you'd think. My ideal Ahsoka right now.
Love the reviews! Keep em coming!
Ooo, I'll keep that in mind when I finally get around to opening the SHF, heh.
Mine has issues standing too. Fiddled with it forever and I was able to get him standing and he hasn't fallen since! My Anzellans are currently nice and safe... inside BellyBomb's mouth! Oh, and yes, Star Wars Play Day soon please!!!
Oh man, the title card alone is getting a like. Great video as always, Robo!
I dig the intro
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Any and all black series I have with floppy droid legs get a tiny bit of blue tac on their heel. Works a treat.. another great vid Robo 🤘

Let's create a new word for the collecting nomenclature: Grogu is a "figccessory".
Totally works for me!
Those little fellas, enzelans? They should do a party pack of a dozen ..

Calling this mech suit for Grogru "IG-12" is so disrespectful. There is already an IG-12. He was manufactured right after IG-11 and before IG-13.
It's good. We've taken our first step to a larger droid.
Uh oh toy dad is disappointed! 😮
It's sitting in the corner for the time being!

You should give him mouse droid roller skates

Hey Robo. Is it possible for you to a review of the Darth Sidious?. I've had him for a week or two and he is REALLY GOOD.
It's in the Play Day pile, hope to get to it pretty soon!

Thats why shart always say : give it ankle pivot!

I'm gonna wait on this one, I should wait on most of them, but this doesn't feel must have.
The detents on the HK 87 droids are useless too. I have no idea how that gets through the design process.
Do you make these intros yourself? They're great. Also great video!
Yeah, I've been having too much fun learning the video editing software after all these years, haha.
Mech-Grogu!
I like mine.
I end up using stands for all my Black Series figs, as they all consistently have weaker ankles than their Marvel Legend and Gi Joe Classified counterparts.
I'm wondering if you can swap feet? Do you think that would work?
😂 "steps forward; steps back"
... but standing still is right out 😅
Does a heated up knife work to cut minor dings and toils of war kinda stuff? Or does it just burn and not do too much?
Can totally heat a paperclip or something up and go to town on some plastic!
Can that Grogu hug one of the Anzellans?
The pistons under the center console fold down on the IG-12. Not sure why... but they do
Robo do you plan on getting the mafex comic Captain America?
Eventually. I skipped but seeing it's pretty sweet, changing my mind.
Hmm... I think this droid boi is gonna need a stand.
How's the situation with the peg holes under those feet? are those deep enough for that?
Can the feet pop out ans swap their sides? They would be tilted in rather than out if you catch what I'm throwing out there.
It's getting boiled and popped soon, I'll definitely give that a shot. Thanks for the idea.
NO SQUEZZIES !!!!!
Not sure how they make the IG figures work, as that design is not toy friendly at all.
"I'm not mad, I'm just dissapointed"
how does it fit on a speederbike?
Thanks for the review Robo. An easy pass for me
I've had my IG-12 for a couple of weeks now and it's been sitting on my desk with no issues. I guess you just have to find that sweet spot and then don't touch it.
Walmart exclusive Season 2 wrecker wasn’t deluxe
The first Wrecker was deluxe. Your turn.
Haha you’re right. I said that meaning there doesn’t seem to be a solid reason as to the deluxe label or a 100% deluxe if the figure is (insert reason here)
Large wrecker - deluxe
Rerelease with better paint and more sculpted detail for season 2 - regular figure

is it a dumb question to ask why you are fighting the detents? They seem to imply he's designed to be posed walking, not standing still like the empire figure.
You think it's going to hold an action pose putting one leg forward and one back? Teehee...
Bad Robo. No squeezie.
Hi Robo. It's not worth all that money if it cannot stand properly. Send it back and get a justified refund. That's just lazy and disrespectful from Hasbro, IMO.
That’s a character design issue
Not like he pays for it!
