Thank you!! I’ve had my sundaras for years now and I love them! But the glue that holds the pads to the ring failed, and the leather has been peeling off to expose the foam underneath. I’m so happy to know that I can replace the pads myself with a better product that won’t have this issue. Might be able to get another 3 years of of them now!
Just here to say thank you. I've been equally hesitant when it came to removing the old earpads. But the credit card was really helpful and switching the pads took me less than 5min each time I had to do it over the years.
Great trick with the credit card! Just got my new Sundaras and the first thing I did is took it apart only to find out I can't put the pads back again. It worked with a CD instead of a card for me. Thanks!
thank to your video I've just succeded into replacing my Sundara's pads with the Kennterton ones....I'm so hppy because NOW my Sundara DOES HAVE LOWS!!! Thank ypu man. btw I've used the credit card also REMOVING the original pads and the entire operation was sooo easy!
Thank you, Wiliam ;) I may be a little late to the show, but nothing beats a good how-to video when you're new to something^^ You helped me a lot here - thanks again! 👏
I love my Sundaras, but yes, the pads are getting a little long in the tooth. They are about 3 years old. Thanks for making this video! I'll be looking for the Kennerton ear pads.
Thank you, the credit card trick was useful. I just replaced my pads with new stock ones. Unfortunately the stock pads seem flimsy and the glue is not holding well. If they break again I will get Dekoni.
Hifiman made a stealthy update of the palit pads last year. They've replaced the glue with a more heat resistant variant. I've gotten a warranty replacement of my pads twice now, and I hope the new revised replacements I got today will hold up better. I frequently do 5-6 hour long sessions with headphones, so if the glue wasn't up to snuff I'm not surprised they only lasted 6-8 months before breaking down for me.
@@gutterg0d the glue on mine have just gone after about 6 months from buying a brand new pair as well. Probably the UK heat at the moment not helping, but expected better for £300. On my old beyerdynamics the only reason I ever replaced the valour pads was because I felt they had been through enough wash cycles to justify me just buying a new pair, and that was with 6 hours daily wearing sessions.
Very handy, thanks! That credit card trick worked a treat for sure, otherwise it wasn't as difficult as i thought it'd be! Now my headphones sound weird lol. I cant decide whether its better or worse, if this is how they sounded when i first got them xD
HiFiman, several of us really like their sound, but in several areas of build they skimp, huh 😅😉. Hopefully they will, albeit better than in the past for recent models, will have and invest in continued growth there 🤞🏼 Cool video.
Thank you so much, I was struggeling and had the thinnest part at the bottom before as it seemed logical but having it on the front is actually. xD tip with the plastic card helped a lot with the last notch.
I'm a bit late but thank you for making this video! I bought a pair of sundaras a few weeks ago and my right ear pads leather already split open in two places and was worried about the best way to repair it / replace it.
This is a great tutorial, thank you for the info and everything! Do you have any shop recommendation to buy the pads you showed in the video? I cannot find them anywhere and the stock pads aren't that wow sadly.
I had bought the earpads directly from Kennerton Audio in St. Petersburg Russia. As far as I know they are still available, but shipping is a little tricky right now.
I saw your other review of the sound thanks, check it out peeps the pads look fantastic and the choice of the kennerton 01 mainly for comfort or the 02 for extra bass 3-5 DB sub and lower mid bass will take the Sundara to what the drivers were probably always designed to deliver and no reliance on EQ
How much would you charge to change the pads on my HiFiMan Sundaras with me paying shipping in both directions. I just don't feel comfortable changing them by myself.
I have a question: there is a nylon (?) membrane in the stock Sundara Headphones, but there isn't such layer present in Kennerton and the planar magnetic mechanism now seems exposed to your ears directly. Is it ok or is it better to buy (where?) one and install it somehow too? Thanks!
Hi, what are in your opinion the differences between your new Kennerton pads and the stock version? I have a pair of he-560’s and would consider the leather Kennerton pads as well if I knew what the benefits on sound would be.
Just saw this but my Sundara already sold along with a pair of ear pads because the original just ‘disintegrated’. Anyone can share a link on changing the headband for Arya Stealth? It just peeled when I recently took it out from the wooden stand.
anyone can share what happens to the tuning with old pads? im unsure whether or not it's time to change my pads to new ones and still hesitant to change mine. but if the tuning as described is the same as my experience with my current old-ish pads, id be more inclined to switch them out already
I dropped the EQ on my Sundara since I changed pads. To me it sounds better than it did. With ZMF Ori Hybrid pads, the bass feels a Little bit more present and has more impact to it (which is good for the Sundara) without loosing any of its qualities in the mids/treble. The 7k Hz peak has been tamed a Little bit, which felt pleasant to my Ears also. And the comfort is not on the same level AT ALL. I also bought a Headband "cover" that improves comfort by a large margin as well. Went from being able to listen to them only 2h at a Time to being able to have Them on my head all Day without hurting.
I bought those ear pads and it didn’t work, It sounded very bright and it changes the sound signature of the headphone. The sundara is one my favorite headphone and those ear pads don’t work, looks very niceee but sound not good.
The credit card trick doesn't work on the latest Hifiman pad revisions. They started using stickier pleather that the credit card will rub right off. I have already damaged a few of the pads using a credit card to remove and install them. The pleather on the back where it is glued to the ring peels right off when you rub a credit card on it.
Hey, I work at Home Depot, I don't have a Low's card 😠. Hahha, Well say a prayer I don't ruin them, I just bought a set of HE560's and the pads are on backwards (front to back/back to front). I'm going in 🤓...
Amazing knowledge and technique, spent half an hour trying to get my pads on and your video saved me so much heartache.
Just know that this video still helps people out 3 years later, just got new pads and this made it a breeze haha. Thank you!
I used his advice to replace Sundara pads today!
... and I just a few minutes ago

Thank you for your timely instruction video. Knowing what's underneath the pads has given me the confidence to swap them myself.
Thank you so much for doing this video, it was very helpful. I didn't even need to cry when I applied new pads on my Sundaras this time. 🌞
twist them in and out, no need for snapping or credit cards lmao
Just here to say thank you.

Thanks!!! Able to replace my pads after 2 years of heavy use
wow that credit card trick. genius. this video is must-watch for anyone that owns sundaras.
Very helpful. I used this same trick on my Susvara without a problem. Thanks!
I love my Sundaras, but yes, the pads are getting a little long in the tooth. They are about 3 years old. Thanks for making this video! I'll be looking for the Kennerton ear pads.
The credit card trick was a life saver! Thank you!!!
Thanks bro, I was losing my mind when one of the pads come off
Thank you, the credit card trick was useful. I just replaced my pads with new stock ones.

Couldn't do it without your help. Thanks!
Thank you so much!! Needed that. Worked perfectly!! Appreciate you making this video.
A big help this 2024 on replacing my earpads, do you have a review with our Sundara? I just want to watch it and revive my interest with my headphone
I did a full review of the Sundara back about 4 years ago. I also did a few reviews comparing the Sundaras to other headphones since that time.
HiFiman, several of us really like their sound, but in several areas of build they skimp, huh 😅😉. Hopefully they will, albeit better than in the past for recent models, will have and invest in continued growth there 🤞🏼 Cool video.
The pads I got came with one being 180 degree backward lol thank u for saving the day
Thank you, this was extremely helpful - took me about a minute to do the swap!
I just bought Sundara and I already hate them for the pad installing system. Even with your tutorial is not easy at all.
Thank you so much, I was struggeling and had the thinnest part at the bottom before as it seemed logical but having it on the front is actually. xD tip with the plastic card helped a lot with the last notch.
THANK YOUUUUUUUU ❤❤❤❤
video was a little long in the tooth, but very informative, thank you for making it / posting it.
1.5 speed saves lives

thank you, I just needed to replace my sundara earpads!!! 👌👌
Super helpful so 105mm with wrap around. What do the kennerton pads change in terms of sound?

It's very easy. Just give it a try.

Forgot to ask...Are the Kennerton pads the ECL-O1 or ECL-02? Memory foam or regular foam?
Hi, what are in your opinion the differences between your new Kennerton pads and the stock version? I have a pair of he-560’s and would consider the leather Kennerton pads as well if I knew what the benefits on sound would be.
I think he talked about it in the older video about the sundaras, it's from a little over a month ago.
@@Brunoku I also did a review of the Hifiman HE-500, with Kennerton earpads.
Super 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the Vedio 👍
Where can I purchase those lamb skin ones ?
Managed to do it without the credit card. You just hafto use force to push them in place. Way easier then you think after you finished 1 pad
Awesome video, thank you!
Thank you. This was timely.
THIS WAS VERY USEFUL THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Hi guys any recommendations for a replacement for warmer weather? I live in Australia and the stock earpads rotted away within a year
every year i replace my sundara pads and it is true hell and i have to come back to this video
Keeps my view total going up.
Help with the credit card - brilliant!

LOL, exactly what I needed to see. :P
thanks for the video, helped me a lot
Thank you for the tips !
Can't it be rotated?
Thank you so much!
What a legend
thanks - very useful

My dude, I just can't seem to install these pads at all. It's so sad.
Did you try using a credit card to push the last tab in?
I still can’t get my stock earpads off. Don’t want to break them. Fml
YOU TWIST THEM IN AND OUT, NO NEED FOR SNAPPING OR CREDIT CARDS LOL
