Hi Sue, this A-HA song got the band into the guinness book of records twice for the longest note held in a live performance and song that charted. This song came later in their career around the 2000’s. A-HA’s music is always evolving no two songs sound the same each song is different some pop like take on me, some ballads like hunting high and low, summer moved on, some darker like scoundrel days, ive been losing you and some rockier like the sun always shines on tv and manhattan skyline, That’s one of the reasons I love A-HA so much for almost 40 years is that they are always changig their style of music plus each some is a joy to listen to. They are three extremely talented musicians who don’t get enough credit they are both underrated and criminally unappreciated. Thankyou for listening to another A-HA song hope you’ll continue to do so. Take care and stay safe. 😘❤️🇳🇴❤️🏴🇺🇸
Greeting from Canada Alison, nice to hear from you again. Thanks for tuning in. Yes I remember you gave me the heads up about the Guinness record. I gave you a shout out in the video for your fun fact 🤩. I hope you caught it. I will definitely do more A-HA for you. Have a great day 🤩🥰
USAwise unfairly 1 hit wonders, but Europe,Asia,Latin America really big for years.now a legacy band.Morten is a unique vocal God.A-ha and DDuran were the top '80s most iconic bands in '80s mainstream scene.
Check out their "MTV unplugged" appearance from I believe 2018. They completely stripped down "Take on me", and Morten who was in his late 50s then, will definitely make u hear the song a whole new way! Aha is one of my very favorite all-time bands- and Morten Harkett has just a beautiful voice- they're all still doing it after 40 yrs!!
Thanks for responding to more a-ha. I am enchanted by this band, which I rediscovered a year ago. I was 18 years old when Take on me broke through with a bang, and as a young Norwegian girl it was magical, fantastic, incredible and a lot of fun at the same time. At that time, little Norway had not delivered anything to the world's cultural scene since Munch and Grieg, and at least not to young people. We were so proud of the band (still are), and I've been wondering how I managed to lose focus on them after 2-3 albums. It's probably complex, but today I tend to say that it was because I was so in love with Morten that I had to stop listening to his voice, otherwise I would never have met him who later became my great love. What an experience it has been to rediscover them, and to feel the teenager claiming a place in a half-old wreck. I grew up in the far north of Norway, and when I was young I actually moved south to attend concerts, including with a-ha. There were no international artists who came up north, of course. Nevertheless, I managed to screw up the chance to experience a-ha live, until last summer. Then I was at two concerts. I am so happy and grateful that I got to experience them live. It was amazing. I love them, they are such a treat. My favorite song is Stay on these roads, but I love all of their music. In my opinion there is no song that is not worth listening to.
Hi AhkkariQ, glad to hear from you again. I am happy for you as well that you rediscovered A-ha as a band that you loved so much as a teenager. I love it when I get reconnected with bands I enjoyed when I was younger. You waited a long time but I am so glad you got to see them. It is hard when you live in isolated areas to see a lot of bands and you have to travel further distances to see your favourites. I appreciate you tuning in and commenting. I will do more A -ha again another time 🤩🥰
Hey Mark, I can tell you are a huge fan. You are very knowledgeable. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. And greeting back to you from me here in Canada 😍
This was their first single after a break for 7 years after the 90’s. This was a more modern sound compared to their 80’s sound, but early 90’s they had done more rock style albums.
@@playitagainsue If you like this sound, then you have a lot to look forward to. They are amazing, and have a lot of wonderful songs reminiscent of this one, but always with its own distinctive character.
Thank you for this a-ha reaction. ❤️ I should perhaps give some background information on this extraordinary and one of the best bands of all time who have millions of fans all over the world (the most loyal fans a band could wish for) and are still playing to sold out venues, releasing albums.. A-ha is one of the most successful bands of the 80's. Almost everywhere in the world they are known and big stars. The first song they released was Take On Me with the best music video of all time, which won countless awards worldwide. In the meantime, the video is heading for almost 2 billion views on TH-cam. Take On Me was also a hit in the US, in 1986 the video won 6 awards at the MTV Video Awards and the band had 2 other nominations. Take On Me is one of the most radio-played songs in the world and has been used as a soundtrack in many Hollywood films, but it's not even the band's best song. Other songs also hit charts in the US but then the group withdrew from the US on purpose, so many in the US think that a-ha is a one-hit band, which is not true. Everywhere else this band has had great success. As you mentioned, a-ha also has 2 Guinness World Records, a record for the biggest concert with paid tickets at Rock in Rio 1991, and a record set by lead singer Morten Harket for the longest held note in a pop song, which is exactly that song on which you reacted to ("Summer Moved On")😁 A-ha also wrote the James Bond theme song "The Living Daylights" and other songs by a-ha were used for films and series. The band is very versatile, the members are very talented, intelligent, everyone plays several instruments, they write their own songs. Their direction is pop/rock with blues and jazz influences. The 80s phase was more pop-heavy, the 90s rock. A-ha has released 11 studio albums with sales of nearly 200 million and many other recordings including live recordings, demo recordings, etc. The latest album ''True North'' was released towards the end of 2022, a live recorded theme album as a homage to the Norwegian countryside and nature in general. The album has reached top 10 status in several countries. The album was also made into a cinema film of the same name, which was shown in select cinemas worldwide. The band has also inspired many other bands such as Coldplay (all Coldplay members are a-ha fans), U2 (the U2 song "A Beautiful Day" was inspired by the a-ha song "The Sun Always Shines On TV"), Muse, The Weekend, etc. It's obvious that Morten's voice is a trademark of the band. For many experts he is probably the best singer in the music business, he has an incredible voice range from low to high, almost 5 octaves. As already mentioned, a-ha is a very eclectic band, you can't pin them down to one genre of music. For example, if you listened to 90's era songs, you would think a-ha is a rock band. I would recommend you Manhattan Skyline, The Sun Always Shines On TV, Sycamore Leaves, East Of The Sun West Of The Moon, Out Of Blue Comes Green , I've Been Losing You, Stay On These Roads, Living A Boys Adventure Tale, Crying In The Rain (a cover of the Everly Brothers song) .... and so many other songs and I'm sure you'd like them all, because there's hardly a bad a-ha song. I am including some links, if you are interested you could listen to these songs (and react to some). You will then realize how good this band is and how unique each of their songs are.
