right after a lava block reaches the end of its movement and breaks, you have a 4-frame window (due to coyote time that the breaking block gives) to start a downdiagonal dash (or demodash) and instantly jump to start a hyper. In other words, as the block breaks, hold down-diagonal and then press dash+jump simultaneously with correct timing and you should get a hyper. The timing takes a bit to get used to since there's not a great visual cue, I've just gotten used to using the audio of the block "bouncing" to get a feel for it.
