  • Myth #1: You need to have teaching experience or a teaching degree to homeschool your children.
BUSTED! I have seen firsthand how much of a myth this is! My profession is teaching, I’ve been doing it for 15 years now. I LOVE learning and Education. This is something that I love, am passionate, and proud of. As teachers, I believe that we do an outstanding job every day educating children. However, in our home, though I’m the certified teacher, my husband does about 75% of the homeschooling with our children. My husband, who has had ZERO teaching experience teaching with other children in a school setting, has been the best teacher my kids could ever have! He knows how to engage them and how to apply everything they are learning to real-life situations. He can differentiate lessons and knows when the kids need mini lessons in between concepts. He has been able to teach our kids all subjects. Our children don’t just see him as Dad, they see him as their teacher and respect him as so. The other day they were working on a little craft, my daughter was struggling and my husband went over to break down the steps for her. She proudly showed me her final product and I complimented her on what a great job she had done. She responded by saying, “Daddy taught me how to make it. He’s a great teacher.” That just melted my heart away! So, from personal experience, I want to empower you, regardless of your background or experience in teaching. With the right attitude, commitment, and your children’s best interest at heart, you can do this! #homeschoollife #homeschoolfamily #homeschoolmythbusters #homeschoolingparents #homeschoolingforbeginners
