@@JoyfulYessi I make stuff like chicken noodle soup, beef vegetable soup, beef stew, chicken and dumplings, stuff like that. Oh, I did make coq a vin in it one time ...well, because it's French, you know? LOL . No real tips, it's just like any other dutch type oven - I usually start with a low to medium heat to get it fired up and warm and then just find that perfect spot where it simmers. I have a gas stovetop so I play with it. Oh, keep those little rubberized plastic thingies it comes with that separate the lid from the pot and use them. Less chance of getting a nick in the enamel that way :) Have fun!

@@JoyfulYessi Try coq a vin - it's really not hard - just prep everything ahead of time and follow the directions - step by step. I think the more I make it, it won't seem so daunting - it's just following the steps - give it a shot! And, it's very good.

This just makes me so happy to know that this system worked so well for your entire family too! 4th grade was definitely a year of adjustment for us too, especially since he was coming in from the public school setting. 5th grade seemed so much smoother for my son! They only have to be submitted if you are doing the accredited program. You fill out the paper progress report in The back of the video manual and submit that along with the completed tests using the yellow envelopes they provided and mail it in to them. They will send you an official report card once they have processed it. I know that they do offer digital assessments for grades 7-12, but we haven’t gotten to those grades yet, so I’m don’t really know how those work 🙂

We didn’t find it necessary to purchase them for our family. I feel that the video lessons have been very thorough and sufficient for our kids. One thing that we did get our son was multiplication and division flash cards because he really needed to practice those and he used the cursive formation guide that comes in the penmanship book. I laminated it for him and he would refer to that often. Besides that, we haven’t purchased any additional aids 🤗

@@JoyfulYessi we never purchased the videos, just the parent and student kits. Do you recommend the videos as well?

@reydavinci It sounds to me like you are doing parent led, if that’s the case then you don’t need the video. We do the academy, so we purchase the entire curriculum as a kit with the video instruction. We absolutely love it, especially because we are also working parents, it just makes it so much easier for us and the concepts are taught very well.

The parent kit is different, I believe that’s for parent led. I got the Abeka Academy full grade video and books. It comes with everything all in one. The students materials, videos, and parent materials 🙂

I actually have never cooked with parboiled rice, so I’m not quite sure how it will do. But if you give it a try with parboiled rice let me know how it came out for you 🤗
