Cookbook manual suggests baking peach cobbler cake directly on grill plate which you wisely recommend against doing due to slope.
No mention at all on using broil function which can set and caramelize protein topping after quick grill.
Great machine but not at all pleased with some of their suggestions and omissions.
You should have been hired to edit cookbook manual and to make it more complete. I have 6 outdoor grills and smokers and have been air frying since original Philips. Without this background using ninja would not be so easy.
By the way ninja air fryers are among few I've used that can crisp bottom of food without the flip.
    Great job cj.

@@CookingWithCJ returned grill as temp never above 375 after first use and griddle has room only for two slices bread and some chopped ham, good for single person. Griddle also didn't preheat after 5.5 min staying with light 2 flashing. Turned off and griddle did start to preheat after 45 seconds. Maybe I got a lemon, ninja offered to replace with 20 per cent off but will stick with ig301 among NY other toys.

Hi CJ…I just received my Ninja pro grill and wonder what accessories may I buy and do you sell them and what do you recommend? Contrary to most, I happily find this grill pro model much more compact in size as it does not hog my countertop! Thank you for your practical honesty which clinched the deal for me to purchase the pro model grill! Ninja kitchen is currently selling this model for $199.00 till December 1, 2021. I got mine at a well known local “beyond” store that matched Ninja’s price! I do not like to deal with Ninja Kitchen as I find their customer service extremely rude and ridiculous plus my High School French is too rusty for me to understand the heavy French accented associates whose English leaves much to be desired! It’s Canada for goodness sake!!! Nevertheless, I am impressed with the “Pro Grill” thanks to you CJ!😇PS: Perhaps they heard that I dubbed their money “Monopoly Money?” Thank you again!

Hey C.J., do you bake following the oven instructions on the package, or do you modify?

    • @CookingWithCJ
      @CookingWithCJ  ปีที่แล้ว

I usually use the directions as a guide, but drop the temp by 25 degrees. I also watch the timing. I find things cook faster in the Foodi grill, than a normal oven.

Nah, it’s pretty smooth. You’d have to be pretty rough with it and bang it all around to scratch it.

Cj... If you're baking something over 400° the grill and griddle will not go beyond 400° in baking mode can you try to answer that question in another video or to my comment. Thanks I love your channel!

Thanks! I haven’t really tried to bake anything over 400. But maybe try to use the grill setting on high. I think that’s 500f. Might take a little experimenting on that.

CJ. HELP! Need a decision re purchase-Ninja Foodi XL Grill or PowerXL Smokeless Grill? I will use mostly for hamburgers and steaks. With the ninja, the unit turns off when you lift the lid. With the Power XL the lid removes and unit stays on. Please help me make a decision please. Thanks.

@@CookingWithCJ Okay, folks. I trotted to my kitchen and tried and measured my smaller baking pans. The following do fit. However, the 8x12 does need to be scooted to the rear of the griddle. 5x10 loaf, 7x10, 8x12, and the 12 mini muffin pan which is 8x10. Hope this helps.

@@kelli8923 I got the XL in May. Finally used it last week. I also bought the original Ninja Griddle plate (they didn't make one for the XL. I don't know why. At least, when I bought it, it wasn't available.)
I placed the griddle plate in to griddle my mixed onions and mushrooms. I love it telling when when to open the lid and flip. I had it on the low setting in grill mode and cooked it twice, giving it a toss each time with the handled scrappers.
Then I took the griddle plate out and put the grill plate in for the burgers. The manual says to avoid olive oil because it's smoking point isn't as high as avocado or grape seed.
But all I use is olive oil. I've learned you don't need much at all. I only used a wide cap full. It was more than enough. My griddle and grill plates were still moist after cooking and I did more wiping the first go round.
As long as your heat settings are low to medium with very little oil, you shouldn't have a problem if you're a olive, vegetable, or canola oil person.
Don't buy grapeseed oil or avocado oil or coconut oil unless you really want to or need to. Also don't underestimate it's power. It gets super hot, fast. I was surprised.
I have mastered the dual thermostat mode yet. I haven't yet baked either.
