    I can absolutely confirm that Randy is 10,000% correct about the Lodge carbon steel pan. It's genuinely amazing and steaks and other beef cuts sear so beautifully that they look like works of art!

    Randy, you’re hilarious and amazing! I actually squeal with delight when I see that you’ve posted a new video! This was super informative. One kitchen gadget that I cannot live without is my Kitchen Aid 5-speed immersion blender. I make lots of soup, especially puréed ones. I have a microkitchen... like seriously... it’s Barbie doll size. I don’t have room for a regular blender, but I think I still get a pretty good purée from the immersion blender.

    LOVE the shoutout to Victorinox Fibrox knives.
    I used to manage a cutlery store and did all the sharpening there, they're EASILY my favorite recommendation for new chefs. They have excellent blade chemistry and geometry and are worth at least twice what you pay for them.
    My main Chef Knife is a Kai Shun, but all my other knives are either cheap Henkels or Victorinox knives.

    Agreed with most of your comments. There is no need for gadgets. Function over form in the kitchen. I've worked as a technician on kitchen equipment for 35 years and the instapot is a very old invention packaged under a new name. It's a pressure cooker with computer functionality. It truly cuts cooking times down considerably. Almost all dense food types are cooked in a much more efficient way. And with the electronics no more guessing if it is done or not. Potatoes cooked in a third of the time. Beans for whatever dish are made tender much faster. Rice perfect every time. Just an incredibly efficient piece of equipment. No wonder our grand parents used them. There is nothing quite like a hot meal made quickly and has that old world charm. Like it was cooked for 8 hours to get that just right taste. Other than that you were right on point. I challenge you to make some chili and still have the same opinion.

    I "accidentally" bought a whole set of very inexpensive knives at Ikea that are amazingly good! I bought them just to have something to cut with until I found an expensive fancy schmancy set. But these Ikea knives are so great I never bothered to buy the expensive ones!!!

    Hello dinner party tonight host AKA Randy, I recently started watching your show on TH-cam because I just started dinner parties for my friends. I absolutely love your channel and the food choices that you select. Typically these are not the foods that I grew up with or have learned to cook ; so you are teaching me a lot.
    I am currently having a glass of wine and watching dinner party tonight kitchen equipment. In the background I am looking at your patio with your table and chairs and I was just thinking I would love to have dinner there. have you ever thought about inviting a guest for your show for an actual dinner? I would like to volunteer. I make a mean homemade ice-cream; cherry vanilla

    The Instant Pot rant is a big mood. I bought one after hearing everyone rave about them and I *HATE* it. 😂 It doesn't cook things properly, it's not any faster once you factor in the time it takes to pressurize and then depressurize, and you can't sautée anything properly unless you want your food to "burn" while it's cooking. Which, if (when) that happens, you just have a pot of half-cooked food that you have to transfer to a different pot and cook manually anyways. I've used mine maybe 5 times and now it's sitting on my counter collecting dust.

    That lodge cast iron makes the best cornbread 😀 a guy comes to our farmers market and sharpens knives once a month, it's awesome. He's much better at it than I am. This was great video as always 😀 my favorite kitchen toys are my mandolin, micro plane and spider strainer oh and this cool old fashioned contraption that peels and cores apples real fast. I need a serrated knife for tomatoes and bread slicing. I don't want a friggin instant pot either, I want stew to bubble away for hours, not minutes. 👵🏻👍🏻

    My best knife is a Martha Stewart Everyday I bought at Kmart 25 years ago for $10.99. Still my one and only go-to despite others. Has one small chip in it, but it sharpens beautifully on a wet stone -- not hard to do. Best peeler is the cheapest thing, all stainless (Ecko?), you can get them at Mom and pop hardware stores for $1.99. latest cook set is a gift (Emeril), very hardy and cleans up well; I do invest in a Analon French saute pan (12 inch), $100. It is indestructible. Sorry, Kitchen Aid hand mixer has no power, POS, but yes, the hinged stand mixer is a forever item (forget about grinding with it though, the dies turn your meats grey) . Agree Cuisinart reigns for food processor but forget about their other products which many they have passed off to lesser manufacturers. Screw Vitamix, my USED Ninja I bought off Craigslist $60 has lasted 10 years and still going. ( I also have a magic bullet for smoothies, etc -- it also juices well. Breville juicer is shit. I have a hand crank ice cream maker (Donvie). Works fine. Agree, Instant Pot, Smoking machine, counter top rotisserie oven, etc -- NOT A NEED! Food saver is great. One thing everyone needs is a Krups Herb/ coffee grinder (I have two, one for coffee, one for herbs).

    Very informative and fun! I must, however disagree with your dismissal of the Instant Pot and excluding any sort of pressure cooker as a kitchen essential. I have the IP and a stovetop pressure cooker and find them very useful and I employ their unique ability to cook certain things very fast with minimal loss of flavors and nutrients. I cook in traditional ways too but pressure cooking is definitely a plus.

    Enough is enough! Instant Pot comment was beyond stupid! Do you even own one! And then you demean it to campsites! Wow! Who are you to judge a product without even using it? Guess what? Who are you? Tatted? What is your hair color?. Do you have a hair color? Blah blah blah ..... You went too far on this! Best bone broth and stock is from the Instant Pot! P.S. It's called a pressure cooker! Who are you to demean pressure cookers that a zillion cooks have used to feed families for generations! Are you kidding me ? Please apologize! And do not politicize or monetize food! Be happy what you have ..... And be happier for those who do not have!

    • @randallsharp8769
      @randallsharp8769 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gary Czerwinski I apologize! I do own one and have used it many times. I don’t use it any more though. I was trying to be funny and it obviously didn’t work. The campsite reference was honestly just a joke! So sorry to have seemed insensitive. Pressure cookers and Insta pots are useful products. I just stopped using mine that’s all! I took the blond out for summer As you can see I am about 90% gray! So I guess the answer is - no - I have no hair color!

      Gary, Randy explicitly stated at the beginning of this video that these were her own opinions. It is perfectly fine for you to not agree with her opinion on the Instant Pot, but it is not okay for you, or anyone else for that matter, to comment on someone's appearance. When I read your comment, I was reminded of an article I read on Psychology Today called "Can You Spot 10 Signs of a Childish Adult?" I have included the link for it below. Let's spread love, not hate, Gary. Also, I have reported your comment for hate speech. Good day, sir.
