I love that while this kitchen is aspirational, it also feels normal! It's a little messy, Claire talks about making certain choices because of budget, etc. It's refreshing!

What I like about it is that there's a sort of balance between order and madness, like it's a place that was very carefully designed to have lots of stuff happening in it. Adam Savage, on one of his Tested talks, described how he sets up his workshop to always have everything a maximum of one movement-of-stuff away; stuff could be in a drawer, but not in a drawer and then under something, for example. So the way this kitchen is set up, where everything's so easily accessible, really feels like it goes towards that same goal.

It’s actually pretty cool seeing chefs cooking on electric heat. Cooking seems to be SO oriented towards gas heat and cooking times and results are different on electric. It’s nice to see chefs getting their results without gas.

I really appreciate that they didn't overly-manicure everything, it's real and practical and well-organised in a way anyone could achieve. Although I can appreciate the design of kitchens styled to be on TV, it doesn't really seem like anyone's made to cook in it because it's so staged and the placement of things and sometimes even the containers don't make sense, because they're for show only. Thanks for this intimate inside look, Claire + co!

Love the tour! Lots of great ideas and things to think about for my kitchen. I did envision the trouble my son would have gotten into it at 10 months old with the knife drawer and oven controls on front. At that age, he took a container of cottage cheese out of the fridge, stood on it, and started to hook the top of a pot of boiling water using the pasta stirrer I’d left on the counter. Since then, I’m keenly aware of the other people in the kitchen with me and kick them out if I need to. My son is in college now, and is a great cook and baker. I no longer kick him out.

What a dream kitchen! A tip on the wine, it's not ideal to store it in front of a window. The direct light and temperature changes can cause problems with the wine, so it's best to store it in a cool, dark place. That does look like a nice convenient spot though so simply placing some material, like cardboard, in between the wine and the window would help a lot!

She’s worked in commercial kitchens, written cook books, plus the recipe development, trial etc. shopping for ingredients, testing recipes, taking photography and plate styling. I have trouble reaching my things on a ladder! I am 5’4” and the cabinets go up to 8’. Why???? Also I love the open cabinets, but with the frying people/cooking people in my home, everything would be dusty/greasy. For anyone watching this for kitchen inspo: quartz/granite countertops are easy to clean and you can cut on them (only the knifes will take a beating) and like claire said induction! Gas companies are lobbying for you to think gas is best, and while I used to say only a chef cook might need a gas stove top, seeing Claire have one makes me say they are the best option for any home kitchen, they are easy to clean, and so practical and so on... I would recommend, if possible, to have a seamless transition between stove top and counter top, it's sooo much easier to clean. And yes big sinks are fantastic!! I just love seeing this kitchen, would love to cook in it lol!

Claire organizes like I do. Essential every day things need to be out, visible, accessible, and easy to put away or grab. Other things have a semi-chaotic looking storage, but it's actually organized. I also love Green decor

Glassware just hanging out on open shelving easily accessible to any passing cat that might like to push things over... that's bold (also beautiful, functional kitchen!)

Actually, cats are incredibly graceful and coordinated creatures, who do scary-looking things without many CATastrophes. They do, however, shed!

      @@danbev8542 Hi Dan,
Yes, cats can be graceful and coordinated, but we live with Satan the cat. His real name is Whiskey. He is loving in the morning and will slice your hands off the rest of the day. He is my son’s cat so I don’t get to see him nice ever. I was in the other room the other day and Whiskey got on the bar and decided that the plant with dirt in a fabric planter bag, sitting on top of all kind of hydroponic balls, should be on the floor. I heard this thunderous crash and went running into the living room. You couldn’t even imagine the mess. I couldn’t even say “Bad kitty!” He was long gone and hiding. This kind of stuff is normal activity in my house. He loves Apple Ear Buds. My son has purchased 3 pair this year. All my leather furniture has to be replaced, and my son said he would do it. So, you see how he got his name? I still try to love him and get bloody fingers doing so. My daughter-in-law loves the little guy and says he is getting better. 🤔

Green tomato leaf is my favorite candle! The Jo Malone one is always on sale after the holidays at luxury department stores because only people who love it buy it

Yes! Love the behind-the-scenes look. The kitchen looks so large on-camera, which it is in the sense of taking up a large portion of the cabin, but zooming out and around it's laid out really well with the storage and seating in a small space. I wasn't a fan of the green tile (if any other spots need tile look into Heath Ceramics!), but then seeing the green glasses it really does match well. Kudos for the quotes being added on the surfaces; nice touch! And nice to see the outside of the cabin! What a place. Take us on a tour of the outside -- is there a veggie garden? Would you cook outside on a grill during summers?

Claire, I had watched a BA series where you made pizza. Very informative! Then I started watching your new channel and realized that was you! I have to say I love BOTH of your TH-cam channels. You are extremely talented, informative, funny, and very entertaining. Keep doing what you’re doing and I will keep watching!

Not totally without warning, it was in the works as you can tell, the old kitchen was in progress, no official counters, or little there of, a portable dishwasher (countertop), etc. It was obvious that the kitchen had been partially gutted, but put enough together to make it workable until they could get it redone.
I think she did say they were going to redo the kitchen at one point, so not totally surprised unless you were unaware.

It looks great, Claire! I love how you invited us into your kitchen and gave a detailed tour. I really like your counters and color pallet. Did you ever say what your counters are made of? Thank you again for showing us around!

Likely it's quarts, or Corian or similar.

I'm not sure what material you choose for the counters, but you've inspired me to look into Caesarstone, which has the look of concrete, but it's made mostly of recycled quartz. Thank you!
