I paid for parking and some looney woman driver came at me complaining that I was taking a parking spot from a car. She didn't seem to understand that if I PAY, I am entitled to a parking spot. She thought I should pay the same amount as her, but park my bike outside the car park on the dirt. And yes, I did tell her where to go. And NO I didn't move my bike.

    How to chain motorcycles together:
Don't use one chain to chain two bikes together.
Put a chain through each bike, and loop the chains together. That way, cutting one chain will only allow them to steal one bike, not two. And, if one needs to leave, they can simply unlock their chain and ride off, while still leaving the other bikes secured with a chain through their wheels.

  • @motoryzen

2:20 to 2:25. That's why you turn your handle bars far to the point to where they lock. Now, having said that, I bet nothing can stop two big muscular queedos from tag team lifting your bike into the back of a pickup truck and hauling ass off. That's why I have a motorcycle-grade chain lock in which I'll run it through the rear wheel, and through the frame and around a steel or concrete beam ( maybe even a parking lot light pole if possible). I sincerely doubt someone will be carrying a plasma torch ( which is the only thing that could brake the chain quickly enough...almost) to brake the chain and try to steal my bike. However, I'm never inside any store long enough for that to happen. Bring it.
Oh...and 2nd amendment exerciser here. Got lead? Try stealing my bike and you'll get plenty of it. I have the value menu as well as the triple whopper available xD Take your pick. Free samples available for those dumb enough to park too closely to it as well as kick it over.

The best way to keep your bike from getting stolen is to put it in a garage. If you live in an apartment rent a storage unit and put your bike in there. While your bike is garaged still use quality chains, alarms, and disc locks. I hate these dumb thieves. Where I live they are everywhere.

Some (most/all?) bikes have a clutch control sensor at the left lever, which when unplugged disables start-up. Easy to unplug and plug. I don't do this because it seems inconvenient and over time might damage the plug which would then need to be replaced, but... if you want to go there, I doubt a thief would be able to diagnose the issue when it won't start.

    A small word of warning...
Im not sure how things are across the pond as im here in the UK, but the discounts insurer's offer here for adding additional locks/chains is pretty minimal and if for what ever reason you didn't use or forgot one of these additional security add-ons your insurance is now non-existent. Id rather pay the £2-5 extra a month and have the peace of mind knowing that the only additional security declared are things that i cant forget like the immobiliser and Data-tag. I still use additional locks but if i do forget them and my bikes stolen, im still covered :)

    • @joemann7971
      @joemann7971 4 ปีที่แล้ว

if you did forget one of the chains, you could lock the chain and then cut it to make it seem like the thief cut the chain. Plus, some thieves know how to pick locks. How would they know the thief didn't just pick the lock? Unless you personally admit that you forgot, they wouldn't know but I think it's probably not worth the risk. I think the insurance also does that just to get you to keep paying the higher premium.

Its all about making it as difficult as possible for them, the longer they take to remove the bike the increased risk to them of being caught

The new Milwaukee 8 motors much harder to turn over, and LoJack being installed ( an option I recommend) . Also, go armed. Nothing stops a dirtbag faster than a .45

I alway use more than 1 type of lock. I got a disc alarm lock, with a shielded cable lock and a padlock. Multiple locks is key, like you said, better chance of a thief not having the right tool to get through. With multiple locks, they would need multiple tools. Think about that when purchasing your locks. If you can get through all your locks with simple bolt cutters, get a lock that can not be cut with those in addition to your normal lock.

theres bike locks that go thru the little holes in the rotor. so you cant move it more than a couple feet. some are just a lock, some have a LOUD AS HELL alarm if they get tampered much more than using a key, or if someone tries to move it forward or back, itll hit the body of the bike and stop, and itll let off the loud alarm. its crazy good, and not that much. a good one like 80 bucks, maybe less.

Someone shady needs to give their opinion on this ...when I parked my car at a girlfriends in a shifty neighborhood , I always used to take off the HT lead and pocket it before locking the car up , so it couldnt be started.
Would this work on a bike ? either pull the plug leads off and take them with you , or remove the spark plugs and leave the lead over the hole as camo. This assumes bike thieves dont have a selection of plugs with them , but I dont know , its not my line.

You don't park your bike where it can be stolen, at work, at home. If you live in an apartment complex where the bike is outside, consider selling the bike, or paying for secured storage. All else fails bring your bike inside your apartment and carry a .45 caliber pistol to defend your bike. Bet it will be stolen and buy insurance against it. I lived in a ground level apartment and parked my chopper in the living room at night. I still got my deposit back.
