Great interview. Thanks for sharing the Gunn story, so much speculation around it. I moved to notts 20 years ago and with these guys running the city it honestly felt much safer than it does now. Respect and thank you.

Really safe for the people that ran into him when as he said he was drunk or in a bad mood. He shows all of the traits and behaviours that would give him a high score on the Psychopathy scale. He's very fortunate he's not doing 35 years with his brother for killing two innocent elderly people that apart from having a son who killed their relative. The hero worship of people like this astounds me.

I definitely would like to listen to more from David Gunn. It took me a while to listen to this interview, due to believing the media/police opinions. But there’s two sides to every story, and I think a fair listen is owed. I was local during the whole Shottingham situation, it was scary, but the media definitely fed our fears. Thanks again Shaun for another great interview.

Lots of these guys deep down are proper family men who look after their own fiercely. Respect to that 100%. I’m from Newark on Trent where there’s lots of hard fighting men and a large travelling community and the gunnies were well known in the 90s definitely.

i aint no criminal but i managed to end up in leicester prison by writing something silly to my ex, i celled with Dave for about 10 days as i was only in for 28 days total, hes a true gentleman and as honest as the day is long, mess with him and there are consequences we all know that, but for me someone that would never have crossed paths with Dave in my normal life i hold as a good memory of those few days and he made something that was alien and very scary for me an easy time to handle, thank you Dave i wish you all the very best, your message to the young ones is wise, i doubt they will listen, but i admire you for saying it, as its fact based on experience. i will look out for more interviews and put me down for the book when it comes.

The few times I came across Colin he was always respectful towards me. He first spoke to me when he witnessed a guy being disrespectful towards myself when I was at work, Colin stepped in and actually dealt with it in a very diplomatic manner.

When I clicked on the time I though an hour had past but it had only been 20 minutes straight talking
Went to school at top valley comp. Knew lads from Padstow and Bigwood. Went in the Royal Hunt one night and was terrified by the Gunns reputation. I wasn’t in the slightest bit dodgy. But from my own personal experience meeting them, they were friendly welcoming and treated me and my mates like normal lads having a drink in a pub. 👍

I have previously had messages with David Gunn on another youtube site, he has a great memory and is clever, polite and even then wanted to put records straight. A sharp fella who i could relate to and trust. That tattoo of Jamie is so good, i recognised him immediately. "The Bestwood Cartel" is an interesting book, but this interview is far more truthful and informative.

What pisses me off about the whole Colin Gunn thing is how O’Brien can kill someone and get 24 years reduced to 18 on appeal yet Colin gets 35 on a conspiracy. They know he didn’t do it and they know he didn’t pull the trigger so why is he doing more? The law is a joke and the justice system is fucked!

Wow this man and his family were as real as they come, lived in Grantham 25 miles away from ‘shottingham’ and still new who the Gunns were. Proper people though with tragic stories and a lot of police corruption to bring them down.

Grew up in Arnold while the Gunns were active. The city ain’t the same any more, but these guys are still very much talked about and respected. A lot of the stuff written in books and articles is complete speculation. Definitely need to see a Part 2!

As far as having another interview with David, it's a big ole "HELL YEAH". Dude I can't get enough of your interviews. I'm from Texas and had my fair share of run in's with our legal system over here. I have turned the corner on that type of living, wish I would have done it sooner, as we say over here in the states " better late than never". Watching your interviews is part of my recovery from that life and helps me to keep it at bay. Like the recovery program that I'm involved with says "never regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it", and you are helping me with that.

Great listen, what David says makes a lot more sense than the newspaper articles etc explained. David speaks extremely well and also comes across very fair and honest. If what the media said was true I highly doubt anybody would go on a podcast and discuss it for one hour and a half. Nice one David. A few things don’t make much sense though after watching this. Can’t understand though why Colin and two others who got guilty never gave evidence? If David was using Orlando Powell did Colin not have the same legal team? I also wonder if the other two who were found guilty will also be appealing like David has mentioned Colin is. All in all great video and was good to hear it all cleared up after watching gun law etc. great nice one David Gunn, all the best to you and Colin on his appeal👍

I lived in notts for 18 years. I remember walking past the broadmarsh bus station near the courts in notts and seeing armed police everywhere on one of their court dates. Kin MP5'd up the lot on em 😅
I know notts was a safer place when they ran it, and every lad i met off Bestwood estate was sound as fook.

What a guy he is I ended up in Ramby jail in 2012 I think and landed on the induction wing been kicked out my last jail and I had one or two brief conversations with this guy and he was welcoming and I could clearly see who had the last word I’m from liverpool he probably won’t remember but yeh my couple of weeks on the induction wing yeh felt safe and it was run right it’s nice to see u at home 🙏

And I do remember the arington jackets, crombies, Doc Martins and running fights with other schools. The 70s were a wild time. No tools but lots of fisty-cuffs. In realty we have to grow out of the playground mentality. It does lead to years in prison. We are here for so short a time that wasting them in prison is not a smart thing. My heart breaks for Dave and Col's dear Mum...at the end of the day, when we do the things we do and not think, the families are the ones that suffer. But Davey is true old school and I must admit that the subject matter - for me, - is always fascinating. Love it ! X 🙂
