I'm back after 6 years to state this still stands as one of my favorite live performances of all time.
Same
Same
Same
Same
Exactly the same.
can anyone else agree with me that this live session is fucking produced perfectly
Yes I agree wholeheartedly
Amen
THAT'S KEXP, BABY!
2 years later and this still bumps harder than the album. Squealer two is the heaviest version I've ever heard
agreed
The umbilical chord on the mic stand really brings the room together
Yeah, that's like. Your opinion..... Man
Greg Meyer no way man... that’s like tubular feng shui... bra *insert skeevy stoner lingo here*
This might be the greatest ever KEXP performance.
Years on, I think this may be accurate. For me, anyhow! I come back to this one (and 'The Oh Sees' one) weekly!
King gizzard has some good performances though.
probably the best in this style of music, yes!
Damn right. Equal to 60s classics
@@mhbackman Yes!
This is like, the perfect amount of fuzz.
agreed! especially live.
FUZZ is the perfect amount of fuzz.
You need more commas
All you need is fuzz
At 7:13 when he hits the keyboard note with the rickenbacker and then proceeds to phase that shit out. . . priceless. Such a good performance
Sick ass fucking move
that line up, jesus. can we all agree this is maybe one of the greatest musical colabs of our time.
The breakdown on Emotional Mugger is unbelievable, completely subverts the bizarre ridiculousness of the start of the performance into a pure, focused, beautiful psych rock lazer beam to the melted face we all found ourselves in possession of in that moment. And then Big Baby Man lol. What a wild ride.
that last part rocks so hard
Four years later and it's still KEXP's best performance
Six years later and it’s still Kexp,s best performance.
@@julianstiff4685 you beat me to it
this is def my fav performance on here and then Mike Krol’s performance just cuz I love him and also IDLES performance is pretty killer
@@miggz7847 true I love idles
7 years, still the best
I gotta agree about the best performance of all time. I've come back to watch this more than anything. Makes the album sound very hollow . Sick performance
Yeah, this is a much more dynamic performance than than any of the album cuts.
loved this era, emotional mugger is one of his most unique sounding album, I always come back to this presentation
I have seen Ty perforrn dozens of times and this is still the most powerful set I've ever heard him deliver. Outstanding.
Enjoy!
0:18 - Squealer
3:15 - Emotional Mugger / Leopard Priestess
8:44 - Baby Big Man ( I Want a Mommy )
11:27 - Awesome Band Presentation
15:08 - Breakfast Eggs
17:51 - Candy Sam
21:42 - Squealer Two
Thank you!
Nice. Good job. Thanks for that. I think this is his best band. Love this stuff.
This is by far one of the best performances I have ever heard
vocals - Ty
lead guitar - ARALALLAAPHAJA
bass - the Philippines
drums - KAIZER SAUSAEHGH
rhythm guitar - NICK NACK PATTY WACK
keyboards - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
How the hell did they stay still! lmfao
the philippines caught me off guard
@@bluntdetto you can see Mikal Cronin almos laugh like -_-
ty is a baby bruh i mean he said that
This performance destroyed the speakers on my laptop. Worth it.
the absolute best vocal performance i have ever heard from ty. this whole lineup is so fucking talented
Why aren't there people around me that also enjoy this?
Because people that enjoy this are not the most social beings xd
I fucking love it tho'
i ask myself this question every fucking day
man whats weird is the ppl around me that enjoy this wear it like a band tshirt and its equally as frustrating.
my whole band loves the shit out of it
holy shit, Baby Big Man is my new jam. the group vocals (doing the harmony throughout the whole thing )really make the track. But then again, with this lineup of players in the band, i'm not surprised it turned out this fucking awesome.
Thanks again KEXP. another one
***** i've already assumed we're just both into great bands is all!
& ya i play in a few projects for sure
***** attagirlva.bandcamp.com
***** Thanks & will do!
+SurfingOnBrainwaves FUGAZI.....Guy and I were texters for awhile!
+Pastor James Gillespie Seen em like 5 times...grew up listening to them.
I remember at the time being like "what the hell, Ty?" because Cheryl's trying to do an interview, and he's just totally derailing it. Later on, I loved it, and I come back to this perfomance a lot. Next time he came, he apologized and was like "I'll do a real interview this time, Cheryl" and said he got calls from friends thinking he was on drugs like "are you okay?
That’s exactly how I feel watching babies run around so I’d say it’s pretty accurate 👶
He simply needs a new mommy
Give Cheryl credit for how seamlessly she both managed this chaos and also enabled it to be exactly what it was
@@brianmathews2926 yeah I had no idea who she was until I started watching these and gained mad respect for how she just let it ride with this one. She even took the imaginary acid that he offered her without hesitation. She knows what’s up.
This is still the best ever KEXP performance
Craziest performance I've ever seen at KEXP!
I went to the first muggers show. ty spit in my friends mouth and i couldnt hear the next day. great time
Best KEXP performance ever and I've done the block here
I think this is one of the best live recorded performances of all time.
Cheryl is still the all time homie
Never stopped being and never will cease to be the all time homie
I love Cheryl so much. She's so cool
even as a long time ty segall fan, this is still way more awesomeness than i was even prepared for.
4 years now and I can’t go longer than 3 months without watching this a couple times.
Already the best KEXP performance of this year! hahahahaha sick dude.
Cheryl can handle her own. She's a legend.
Baby Big Man (I Want a Mommy) is 100000x better here than on the studio recording! It loses all the manic screaming and desperation that is present in this performance. So unique.
Also spawned the whole "Cheryl being a mom" thing
Legendary.
totally agree
True for the entire album. Prefer this performance over the Emotional Mugger album.
i'm discovering it right now in this live and I have no intention of listening to the studio recording, or stop listening to this version until I have to sleep or something.
why the fuck did they not record the album like this!!! damn so good
Only one word for this: iconic.
The people that ty segall has connections with are amazing. King Tuff on guitar, Cory Hanson from Wand on synth/keyboard/guitar, and Mikal Cronin on bass.
He's also good friends with John Dwyer. What a guy.
@@KingBoner imagine if Ty and John started a band together. The amount of amazing music they’d make!
@@jettf1310 real asf
Don't forget Emmett Kelly, pls.
i lost it at " and we have AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH on the keyboard...! "
1. Squealer 0:16
2. Emotional Mugger 3:11 / Leopard Priestess 6:21
3. Baby Big Man 8:40
Recess 11:27
4.Breakfast Eggs 15:06
5. Candy Sam 17:50 / Squealer Two 21:41
This performance reminds me of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band
This is my favorite Ty Segall album yet. I can't get over how psych and strange it sounds. Love it!!!!
This tickles my brain
YESS! Ty is an album writing machine. Emotional Mugger was definitely his strangest album to me when I first listened, but it very quickly grew on me. Still not my favorite of his albums, but its very different, which is more important I think. His last three albums have been hugely different in style which I like more than anything. Keep the fresh music coming please Ty :)
+Cathal Carolan I know right? This dude puts out so much music its hard to keep up
+Cathal Carolan I couldn't agree with you more :)
+Symbionese I'm gunna instantly sound like a braggy douche for saying this, but I met him. It's funny, he told me that he is lazy and takes too much time off. I was like What!?!?
He usually uses fuzz war war on sound and sunshine reverb
King Tuff, Mikal Cronin, Cory Hanson and Evan Burrows of Wand, Emmett Kelly... just wtf.
Dream team
It’s like a garage rock/psych punk all star team. Incomparable!
how is Ty not burnt out like wtf he's continuously putting out dope ass records i don't get it dude aren't you tireD??????
+Penny Lane It's called drugs and I'll chock this album and his antics up to LSD
+fac4fac you gotta be on some crazy shit to come up with this
The full descent into madness, I fucking love it
In ty and the freedom band’s 2017 kexp performance, he and cheryl briefly reminisce about this performance and the whole cheryl-as-ty’s-mommy bit, and he’s like “oh yeah, after that last kexp show everyone was asking me like “dude are you ok?” and i laughed so hard at that, remembering how blown away i was when i first saw this performance. I play this so many times, its one of my go-to paper-writing shows.
this was so freakin stressful to watch at 1:30am, yet I managed to watch the whole thing... amazing musicians... crazy concepts.
Devo meets queens of the stone age kicked in the head and given a beer to numb the pain. I like these guys
Jeez, I just discovered these guys and I never ever heard something like that before !! I was hypnotized all the way... That's freaking gooood ! That Baby Big Man track got me laughing so hard also hahahah
I've watched this four days in a row since I've discovered it. Making up for lost time I guess.
this is my third time watching this and only now did i just make the connection that the long red thing is supposed to be an umbilical cord...
Seeing Ty and the Muggers live was everything a rock show should be. Felt like watching Sabbath or Zeppelin in their best days.
If art is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable, then Ty did more than a phenomenal job. I am quite uncomfortable. Fuck this was amazing.
YES
Baby Big Man reminds me of some sort of punk/garage rock Primus song. Fucking love it! Ty Segall has yet to let me down.
Love Ty's antics! And beyond that, you can tell these guys are really, really tight on all the songs. Sweet set.
This whole record / period is just insanely fucking good.
This has quickly become one of my favorite performances
This performance is so crazy. Awesome, but crazy.
Hope they make this into a live album! Much prefer this than the studio version
i keep coming back to this, its so great. i really wish i could of seen this lineup live. legendary!
The tones on this performance are outrageously good
Emotional Mugger is his best album, hands down.
+People Or Things in my opinion it's his second best album, after Melted
I thought Melted compiled his catchiest tunes but lacked the immersive concept of this album.
are we watching ty's slow descent into schizophrenia? From the drag to reverse shark attack to this. I love ty segall so much my god this man is talented.
Zigga I’d definitely agree it’s something like that.
He's a big baby
yes
I can't stop watching this.
Ty and co. just have to be having the time of their life doing this.
Psychedelics are great man
i dont think ty is into that stuff
owen mwnap yeah listen to the WTF podcast with ty on. he talks about doing mushrooms alot when he was younger. probably doesn't anymore... but... he use too.
Ah interesting
Corey Hanson just looks at it his closet and just throws all the most random shit together.
Lovin way Ty feels this performance
RIDE 'EM JOHN WAYNE, RIDE 'EM COWBOY
5:02
Think Ty peaked here. I always return to this.
Nahh
Theon Greyjoy killing it on drums!
Nice to see King Tuff there. What a performance!
Agreeeeeeed. I've watched this 50 times. Wish the album sounded even a little this raw.
this performance looks like so much fun, i regret not seeing them in Austin
Ty segall is a great representation of how good modern music can be
Ty is a fuckin mad genius. Best show on here, ever.
this is a timeless classic
That's quite fuckin better than the studio version
the album sound sort of dull I feel
+Comrade Stakaline Especially the song 'baby big man'. Sooo much better here. The sax in squealer two was also a treat
+Comrade Stakaline Agreed! I had to download the audio and split the tracks!
+Lionel E did you download it straight from youtube or you found it somewhere else?
+Alexandre Mendonça just grabbed it from youtube. its 320kbps
Channelling his inner Beefheart here.
🎯Bullseye.
+spaced81 for real
+spaced81 got it
+spaced81 also a bit of alice cooper? not a bad thing, mind.
+spaced81 The Cap soul lives in this man
this is everything I want to see and hear right now. Total entertainment.
this shit still slaps
I love the album but this live performance is amazing
This sound is the next level.
March in Detroit will be memorable...biggest venue there yet...well deserved.
+The Grand Antenna I'll be at the Majestic in March! So pumped to see this live.
+TheHucjon123 If it's anywhere close to Fuzz at PJ's...it should be great!
+The Grand Antenna I'll be there man! can't wait! hope they play some old school Ty stuff too.
+The Grand Antenna I'll be there man! can't wait! hope they play some old school Ty stuff too.
Squealer two was a really good track to end on
This forever cements Ty Segall as a God.....Like there's no album like this, and he pretty much produces his albums by himself
Cory Hanson and Evan Burrows of Wand. King Tuff. Mikal Cronin. The other guitarist who is really good. And kooky Ty in this. This might be one of the most underratedly talented groups of musicians put together.
You mean Emmett? Legendary.
Cheryl handles this very well
i really cant believe how much i love this band and the sound theyve got on this record. they played Vancouver the next night after this and it was utterly devastating....crowd was going bonkers....i've never seen the show of the year in the month of January.
How can anyone not love the fuck out of this?
i dont know what it is about ty's somewhat creepy stage presence in breakfast eggs, but i am diggin that!
Put this live version on wax
this is fucking amazing.
We need a live album release !!!!
HAHAHA man I showed this to my girlfriend and she got so creeped out. I love it
12:21 is potentially the funniest reference to The Usual Suspects I've ever witnessed. Thank you Ty for potentially annoying my dorm neighbors with my hoarse laughter.
what a fucking performance, goddamn.
this is fucking amazing im speechless
Just turned my 20 yr old Grandson onto Tyler here, showed the concert and then the video of the SINGER. NEW FAN! (btw, his name is TYER too!)
Yeah but Ty's name is not Tyler. It's Ty.
This gives me a modicum of hope for future generations.
Holy shit, this is great. Ty Segall + Wand + Some other radical dudes = Fuck yeah.
"Some other radical dudes" include: King Tuff (Orange) Mikal Cronin (Bass) and Emmet Kelly (Guitar) Black
wow king tuff is a really good musician i wouldnt have even guessed he was playing an orange
Hows this only got 375k views? This is the best
Ty is one of my favourite humans in the universe
lol you can see Mikal Cronin start giggling when he says "they're my babysitters"
