My cousin saw Queen in 82 and sat 2 rows from the front. At the end of the concert Freedie brought out a bouquet of roses, pulled out one at a time, kissed the rose then tossed it into the audience. She caught one, preserved it and still has it today.
I was there too, with seven friends Just in front of the middle camera mounts. Three of them have passed away, the rest of us call each other on 13th July every year.
I saw Queen in 1979 in Buffalo, NY. My university roommate was a huge Queen fan. No warm up act. Just Queen at their finest. A show I will never forget.

I saw 3 different Queen concerts in the late 70s and early 80s. And they were all fabulous. They're showman ship is unmatched. You would actually get chills listening and watching them
Thank you for recognizing Roger and John. When you have a talent and personality as larger than Life as Freddie's, it takes some effort to really appreciate the still amazing talents of the rest of the band. Sir Brian, of course, receives plenty of deserved attention, but I've always felt Roger and John don't get near enough respect. They are a super group, through and through.
To be fair, John was pretty consistantly eager to skip the limelight. An amazing musician and writer who has entered the pantheon of music greats on the sly. ❤
It's not even just their musical talent either. Brian and his father made the Red Special guitar with its signature sound and feed back and then John made the Deacy Amp to go with it and it's all part of their unique sound.
I've never understood how Roger can have such a raspy voice but a crystal clear falsetto. You've probably seen In The Lap Of The Gods live in 1974 but if not, he does some incredible high notes 😊
I'm a metalhead normally, but there is simply no denying that Queen is the greatest band of all time, and Freddie is the greatest singer/frontman. There is not even a slight competition in the frontman part. There are loads of fantastic bands, but Queen is just the complete package of perfection, and unbeatable live.
I remember an account of when an interviewer asked each of them what their favourite instrument was. When it came to Freddie, all he said was, "The audience, darling!"
Couldn't have said it better. Freddie Mercury was born to be the ultimate rockstar. A combination of talent, training and sheer musical genious that cannot be replicated. Also, the fact that the rest of the band, Roger, Brian and John are also legendary tier with their instruments AND singing is amazing. These exceptional people happened to find each other and combine their talent to give mankind a gift. In 100 years and beyond people will still listen to Queen.
I've watched many other vocal coaches reacting to & analysing vocal performances on TH-cam, but no one I've seen so far is capable of doing such detailed and complete analyses like you do. With your powers of observation you're able to bring up and focus on small details and nuances most people would simply overlook. Your wit, musical sensibility, humour and enthusiasm make for a treat of a package. And no matter how much you may geek over some aspect of a performance, you never do so in a superficial, annoying or boring way. You're a joy to watch and listen. Keep up the amazing work! Cheers and hugs! //Rick
Queen really is the perfect band. Every member is ridiculously talented and intelligent, and each contributes so much to the overall final product. They were all perfectionists but with a humanity that you can feel. And... Freddie is just beyond compare. I truly believe he was the best front man in music history.
I saw Queen in 1982 in Detroit, MI. Arguably the best concert I ever attended. Most concerts you go to observe, but with Queen, they draw you in to the emotion of the show and you are really participating!
Agreed. I saw them in 1978 when they were touring the News of the World Album and started to add new songs from Jazz which was released later that year. They were all great. Freddie was such a showman, and had the vocals to match.

First concert I attended was January 1978 in Kansas City, MO, for their Queen Live Killer's Tour. Best concert I ever attended, never saw or heard a better front man. The whole crowd was into the music and Freddie us all to join in for multiple songs.
A note to watch when you review this... the second time Freddie moves to the audience and Roger is playing the drums hard, watch as Freddie sees Brian walking to the back to tend to his guitar. It is so seamless, most miss it. Freddie works the audience until he looks back again to see Brian coming back to the front of the stage and then moves forward with the song. All, without any fuss, do their parts. John rocks the bass during that time and Roger keeps them going and shifts when Brian steps back up to the mic. It is this peek into their professionalism that moves me to tears. Regarding Roger Taylor doing solo projects, he did! His latest Live album is gorgeous: _The Outsider Tour Live_ - do check it out! And yes, I saw Queen live in 1978... the Jazz Tour. It was incredible. I am sure the stadium (that doesn't exist anymore) is still resonating with a _stomp stomp clap_ that started 30 minutes before the show even began.
I do believe I've seen this remarked on before but yours is by far the best description of it, and points out something which, even though I've lost count of the number of times I've seen this, made me look again and see how right you are. Just goes to show how deeply Queen fans analyse every move our boys make! Thank you for pointing it out!
Saw Queen and Adam Lambert last year in Belfast, and as Roger Taylor is a hero of mine, his voice hasn't changed. Yes, ok, he's slowed down a bit in his drumming technique, but his vocals on Now I'm Here and In Love it my Car are still magnificent. Was are in the seating directly in line with him, no more than 50 meters away. I finally crossed something off my bucket list.
While I'm not fluent in the British vernacular, I would have to concur with your summation of, "BLOODY HELL!!!". 😊😊😊 A beautiful breakdown and analysis, by a beautiful and intelligent young lady!!! ❤❤ Love from California...
Crying at you crying at this video! The most charismatic front man in history! The band always sounds so amazing live and I am convinced Roger Taylor could have been a lead singer in his own right Thank you for reacting to this! It's always nice to see people loving the same musicians you do
Roger is actually the most prolific member of Queen; having released not only more solo albums (6 and counting) but also 3 albums as lead singer with "The Cross".
oh my good, your vibrato with this super spezial resonance in your voice, thats so unique an wonderfull and lovely and wow. More please, pleeeease.❤. Hit me in my stomach. And as always, i love your reactions full of emotion energy and so fundamental knowledge.
Once you 'Get' Queen...They become part of your soul and mental wallpaper. Although now in this 21st century there is so much mystique surrounding Queen, and particularly Freddie's legendary status...We who were privileged to see Queen perform live, knew instinctively that we were witnessing inimitable greatness. I was so very fortunate to attend several of their concerts in different parts of the world in the mid 80's...This band were the perfect storm, and Freddie was the God with pockets full of fairy dust, who ensured each and every ticket holder experienced the absolute time of their lives. Dear Freddie showed us inside his heart...and we will love him forever for it.❤
I saw Queen here in Los Angeles multiple times. There was magic in the air for every performance. Miss Freddie so much. Thank you for the lovely and insightful reactions.
Hey geourgeous!!! Me again. Love your reactions. I'm from Argentina. Queen was my first live show. That was in 1981. I was 16 years old. Here in my city, Mar del Plata, Argentina. Also the first vinyl I bought was Queen 1. Amazing band. Amazing singer. Many years after I saw Brian May. Thanks. You brougth me lots of good memories!!!
I love your infectious enthusiasm for this performance. Roger Taylor could easily be the lead singer in any band, but with Queen the embarrassment of riches is such that he doesn't need to be, he can drum and do backing vocals. For me this is one of their best live performances, so good it puts many other groups to shame, because they all do it from the heart. Thank you so much for reacting to this. 😊
Roger Taylor has an incredible voice, without a doubt. When you have someone who can match Freddie's vocals an octave higher as backing, and with the same precision, that's an incredible feat.
Well, Brian May and Roger Taylor have both been the lead singer in their own bands and had solo careers as well - both have had top 10 albums (in the UK) and May had a couple of top 10 singles back in the 90s. John Deacon, OTOH, as fantastic as he was on the bass and as a song writer, apparently couldn't sing at all.
Love love love that you mentioned Roger Taylor's BV. This song wouldn't have been the same without him. Bohemian Rhapsody wouldn't have been... There are so many queen songs where if he'd just been drumming the song would have been less. All 4 queen members were amazing!
Queen were SO much more than the sum of the parts. All 4 members wrote hit songs (OK it took John till their 3rd album to start contributing his songwriting). It's so refreshing to see/hear a reaction that picks up on this.
John's songs were among the most popular in the USA, apparently. From something I read a few years back Queen usually didn't do the verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure that was seen as essential in the US in the 70s and 80s, so they were dismissed as unfeasible, commercially speaking, by American record producers (I mean God forbid they try anything different!) John's songs conformed more to the recognised, commercially viable, structure that the American music industry was used to, so his songs tended to do well in that market, "Another One Bites the Dust" being the prime example.
If Roger hadn't been the drummer for Queen, I don't know where this whole project would have ended up. Freddy drove Roger to be his best. He became the best with his voice while being a bloody great drummer added into the mix! Thanks Roger. You're a bloody legend!
11-12-1977 Houton Texas - Yes, that album and by far the best concert I have ever attended. I recently found it here on youtube and have been able to relive that slice of heaven again.
How good he is at feeding the audience really shows when you watch the Live Aid performance. It was a hot day with a lot of performers, and Queen was on the downslide as a "has-been" group at the time, but as soon as they took the stage he took control and within minutes they were quite literally eating from the palm of his hand. Created the most memorable performance of the entire concert, and made everyone remember just how good Queen was.
Really enjoyed your take and insight on these musicians and this particular performance. Have to recommend "Save Me" from the same concert. I think you'll love it! Saw them 3 times live Including their first and last US headlining tours with Freddie. Three fantastic memories!!
I cried watching this the first time as well. It's so emotionally overwhelming. I am also obsessed with Roger's voice. He did solo projects since 1977 and had his own band called The Cross as well. His voice was an integral part of the Queen sound, as was each of the band member's talents. Under Pressure Live at Montreal or Wembley showcase the duet of Freddie and Roger's voices. Any of the early Queen songs like My Fairy King,Seven Seas of Rhye, Lap of the Gods, '39, Bohemian Rhapsody, More of that Jazz, etc. Roger made them sound like no other band. I saw Queen in 1977 on the Day at the Races tour. I have seen most big rock bands and it was my favourite concert.. Queen loves their fans and you feel that watching them. Freddie threw flowers to the audience during the encore and told us how much fun they were having. Freddie was incredibly charismatic. When he was on stage you couldn't take your eyes off him. One of my favourite songs was '39 because they all came to the front of the stage and Roger sang those ethereal high notes. They truly worked as one. The early concerts like Rainbow 1974 and Hammersmith Odeon 1975 are incredible fun to watch if you haven't seen them. Any Queen live is pretty special. Loved your reaction!
You are an absolutely joy! I'm a huge Queen fan for 49 years now, saw them many times and met the band in 1982. Thank you for your articulate and enthusiastic analysis of the greatest group AND singer of all time ❤
I was fortunate to see Queen in concert during this tour at the Baltimore Civic Center in August of 1980. I was 18 years old at the time, and I still vividly remember the show. Freddie owned the crowd from the moment he stepped on the stage. It was definitely "one of those shows".
I can't even imagine how wonderful it must have been to be in that show that night in 1981. This performance was incredible in so many ways. I'm blown away
While Live Aid was their best set ever, I think this is their best performance of just one song. When you talked about connecting with the audience that was Freddy's best talent, he was a showman. Roger is great in this, Brian is always great, John is steady and gives them the bass lines they need, but the starting point is always Freddy and his talent and presence. Great reaction, everyone should hear this version of the song at least once in their life, this is about a perfect as you can get.
This performance is fantastic of course and the most-well-known… There is also the 1982 performance at Milton Keynes Bowl, which is actually the one that Queen has put in their official compilation of Best Live Performances.🖖
I totally agree! I think that I've seen this performance at least a hundred times which has been a pleasure every time. I'll never get tired of it! ❤🌈👑
I was at Live Aid and don't think that in musical terms it was their best. However, what Freddie & Co did was to somehow turn a huge general audience into THEIR audience in twenty minutes with a direct and totally charismatic performance. Their professionalism is unsurpassed.
So glad to see you talk about Roger Taylor's voice! Queen was a collection of top-tier musicians who all were willing to create the greatest music as a team, and didn't let individual egos block them from achieving greatness. Freddie was an amazing talent, but Roger's voice adds so very much to the mix. And yes, everyone in the band did what was needed to make these magical moments both in the studio and on stage. How I wish I had seen them live. Love your reaction, and you are looking more amazing every time I see you. Thanks for your reactions which have taught me so much I didn't know about vocal technique. 🥰
Hello Lolli. Brand new subscriber here. You are an exciting blend of educational and entertaining. You’re also one of a very few vocal coaches who actually demonstrates what they’re talking about, which is tremendously appreciated. Your enthusiasm is infectious and you’re just lovely. Thanks for this and excuse me whilst I take a trip back through your catalogue. I may be a while.
I love your reactions and musical analysis. I saw Queen twice on the same tour at Wembley and Knebworth and they were sublime. Definitely the best concerts I have ever experienced.
As a massive Queen fan myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Freddie absolutely commanded the stage when he performed. And Roger's voice absolutely makes this song even more magical. This performance is musical perfection.
I love that you know what you're talking about and provide wonderful comment, but I love even more the pure joy with which you listened to this song. I literally laughed out loud watching you watch them.
Excellent reaction. Everyone comments on the incredible Freddie, Brian, Roger and Queen as a band. It takes John's talent added to the mix make them all the very best. Thank you for recognizing John.
Its a shame we had to lose him such talent and the purest love and devotion to his skill and how much he loved doing what he did you could see it in all of them on stage
You broke this down so well. This performance was magic in the making. Freddie truly was a wizard on stage and he left everyone spellbound. Freddie and Brian always get so much of the limelight so it’s nice to hear Roger and John get their talents acknowledged. The oracle cards are a great touch. Keep up the awesome work ✌🏼❤️🎵🎶((🌍))
Freddie was having throat problems and his doctor told him not to sing or risk damaging his vocal cords. Being Freddie Mercury he went out and gave one of his best most powerful performances ever. There will never be another like him. The closest i have ever heard to Freddie is Marc Martel. Roger Taylor said the first time he heard Marc sing he cried because Marc sounded so like Freddie. Cheers
Im really pleased you spoke about all the members of the group, particularly with regards to John Deacon because without all the members of the group queen may never have been as great as they became. All members of the group were outstanding. Real masters of music.
I saw Queen in 1976 at Cardiff Castle, it poured down all day but they were magnificent, I was 13 and went on my own. I also saw them in Milton Keynes bowl in 1982, a much bigger venue but still magnificent. I've seen them post Freddie with Adam Lambert and they were very good but it wasn't the same.
I saw Queen in 1976 at the Oakland Coloseum in California. They had several tilting lighting panels. Their performance was way beyond what I had expected. It was by far one of the best performances I have ever seen in my life... Just incredible!!!
I'm two weeks late to comment, but I have to say this: this is the best reaction/analysis I've ever seen. You're reaction was so beautiful to see because your face really said out loud what so many of us feel watching Queen. This is the first video I've watched as a reaction that I wasn't yelling to just let the song/video play. Also, I enjoyed this video so much I've watched it a good half-dozen times. Queen and Freddie are beyond incredible. Seeing your analysis and breakdown of this performance was informative and let me really see the intricacies of each members performance and how they made everything they did just wonderful. Count me as a subscriber.

Also the first vinyl I bought was Queen 1. Amazing band. Amazing singer. Many years after I saw Brian May. Thanks. You brougth me lots of good memories!!!
The love and excitement in her face….music does something to all of us.
GREAT BREAKDOWN ON A GREAT REACTION. SAW THEM IN 1980 IN LOS ANGELES AND THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.
This is on my shortlist for best reaction I've ever seen. And I've watched a shit tonne of reactions!!
This really was Freddie at the peak of his vocal talent and showmanship. Absolutely stellar stage presence, ineffably captivating.
Freddie is the BEST!!! My first concert as a kid. Queen was AMAZING!!!
So was mine
I love your infectious enthusiasm for this performance. Roger Taylor could easily be the lead singer in any band, but with Queen the embarrassment of riches is such that he doesn't need to be, he can drum and do backing vocals. For me this is one of their best live performances, so good it puts many other groups to shame, because they all do it from the heart. Thank you so much for reacting to this. 😊
Roger Taylor has an incredible voice, without a doubt. When you have someone who can match Freddie's vocals an octave higher as backing, and with the same precision, that's an incredible feat.
@@johndeeregreen4592Yes, I agree 100% and all whilst drumming, Roger is really talented as all the band were.
All could be lead singers of other bands
@@hman2912Yes, that's so true.
You're a bloody legend!
one of the greatest live performances ever! 🙌🏼
Lady... you are something else... you touched on the fundamentals of what Queen is to me. I salute you... thank you!
Really enjoyed your take and insight on these musicians and this particular performance.
Have to recommend "Save Me" from the same concert. I think you'll love it!
Saw them 3 times live Including their first and last US headlining tours with Freddie.
Three fantastic memories!!
Just love how seeing Freddy makes her smile uncontrollably!
He was better live than in studio amazing showman
MORE QUEEN 😊👑🔥
Hello gorgeous, thank you for the fantastic analysis and for the new words "sectionception" and " shredisfaction" I love it.
You are an absolutely joy! I'm a huge Queen fan for 49 years now, saw them many times and met the band in 1982. Thank you for your articulate and enthusiastic analysis of the greatest group AND singer of all time ❤
Totally in control of all that surrounds him... Genius...
Bloody love you Lolli. Your enthusiasm is as contagious as laughter. Never change.
PURE GENIUS. Nothing to add.
I was fortunate to see Queen in concert during this tour at the Baltimore Civic Center in August of 1980. I was 18 years old at the time, and I still vividly remember the show. Freddie owned the crowd from the moment he stepped on the stage. It was definitely "one of those shows".
You want to see the band in the recording studio messing around while reinhold mac is trying to record one vision absolutely hilarious
So true freddie is unreal sometimes his skils are outstanding blowing our minds
Queen were seen as a bit past their prime in the mid 80s, I gather, but Live Aid made a whole new generation take notice.
The Ultimate Showman!!! PERIOD!!! Great Reaction Beautiful young Woman R.I.P Freddie 💔😎🤘
Roger sang everything Freddy sang, but an octave above.
How incredibly lucid. Nice one.
Saw them 4 times. Alas not in 1981.
Fabulous . Nothing else comes close.
Great reaction! I saw Queen in 1977 in St. Louis. Absolutely amazing performance.
Cheers
Live aid,not this show
Time for more Home Free! Maybe try "Helplessly Hoping".
Freddie king of rock 🤘 please do live aid queen 85 reaction
Beautiful and passionate reaction with wonderful insights, thank you - perhaps some more Queen, and/ or Freddie with Montserrat ❤
Kudos for not just concentrating on Freddie. Queen were so much more than just a backing band.
Very enjoyable reaction video looking forward to more love from Glasgow Scotland
Freddie was an amazing musician
I'm lucky in that I managed to see them 6 times. I've seen a thousand gigs, played a hundred, and nothing compares. Roger's vocals are incredible
Ogni tua osservazione oltre che essere pertinente è anche emozionante....,grazie.
An amazing performance and a reaction/analysis not short of brilliant. The world indeed becomes a better place when Lolli reacts to Queen.
What an age we live in - where music performances can move people around the world until the end of time.
