    Good job. Thank you for the video. I see you used a regular hopper to spray your texture. I used to do that but I finally got a dedicated hopper for stucco.

    i got 30 years in the lath and stucco biz.....now-a-days we use an abrasion skillsaw/blade to make a clean cut in the wall....set ur blade to just above foam depth and you save most of your black paper/vapor barrier.....then use bullnips to clean up the remaining nails and wire....

    • @unamor
      @unamor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@marisolhollerbach1730 the use of the hammer is the traditional way of doing this and, in my opinion, the best one. Reason being is a clean cut will likely facilitate and expose a clean linear crack if any movement was to happen to the stucco, like we often have here in California. Plus, both wire meshes are improperly connected if all that is exposed is the paper (new and existing are supposed to overlap and twist together). However, the imperfect edge of a hammer broken hole provides more grip and irregular connection. This is just the hardest way of doing things and still the best, IMO.

      It an exterior stucco finish, I get it from my material supplier. Home depot has a stucco finish bag by sakrete. Comes in grey or white.
      Lowes has Laharbra brand and its call exterior texture finish or stucco finish coat.
      Hope it helps 🙏

    This is awesome, and will help me tomorrow on a hole about this size that has me flustered.
    Some questions because I’m new
    Why do you use the nail gun to set the wire in place instead of the staple gun?
    What should I be searching for when I am trying to find out what the code is for my area?
    Thank you for an awesome video

    • @johndonaldson7043
      @johndonaldson7043  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a 15/16 inch by 1 1/4 crown staple gun .
      Pazload is the brand, very reliable staple gun.

      This house is an open stud fame, it does not require it. But you can do it your way but remember the thickness of the scratch and brown will not match pre existing.
      Usually we go with what the already have, Wheather it is a open stud. solid sheeting
      or any other substrate suitable for exterior stucco installation.

    Shouldn't you have filled the hole with plywood then paper then chicken wire then brown coat then stucco? Just asking

    • @johndonaldson7043
      @johndonaldson7043  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There really isn't a wrong or right way of doing it. Yes you can do it the way you mentioned, but most importantly is that you correctly overlap paper to prevent improper drainage of water.

    • @johndonaldson7043
      @johndonaldson7043  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ya the house is an open studs and code requires only single paper over studs, double
      Over open studs. And yes it is sure nice to paper and wire over sheer wall. Thanks for the comments.
