I consider myself lucky to have seen Ella on 2 occasions. The first time was in Belfast in 1963 in Belfast and then again in the 70s at Ronnie Scott's. She reminds my favourite singer of all time .RIP Ella.
Honestly, instantly one of my favorite pieces of music/history. Absolutely tight performance, at first so easy to imagine she was singing to recorded orchestration, but there they are! Just superb, gorgeous, such great talent. Every note, not a miss.
I believe that the mic is a prop, not least because the lead doesn't go anywhere. Were there cordless mics back then? Presumably, there's an overhead mic that we can't see?
Incredible as always from Ella - at her vocal peak here. Thank you for posting another treasure. Love her impressions in Bill Bailey at the end - spot on Pearl Bailey!

Notice apart from her out of this world voice, how she knows how to use a microphone. Look at women singers so called divas today, a lot of them practically ram the mic down their throats and scream at the top their voices. If you can sing the high notes soft and the low notes high, that’s a singer, like Miss Ella. I used to like Whitney Houston, but to my mind she was the same, used to scream a lot and see the veins sticking out on the side of her neck. She had a beautiful voice, and I always thought when she did that it was unnecessary, she ruined her lovely voice. Only my opinion of course.
The First Lady of Song truly missed Rest In power my Sister from another Mother. Until we meet on the other side.

59 years of career is not for everyone... Ella is wonderful!
I love Ella Fitzgerald.
The best. Period

Good news , someone from Japan posted a song from this in excellent quality as if it came directly from the broadcast tape...
Неподражаемая Элла .Какая внутренняя Сила.Красавица.❤
One word to describe AWESOME A jazz singing Masterclass. Notice how far the mike is from her mouth and she still manages effortless power.

Согласен с мнением Werner'a о том, что "скэт" Эллочки просто бесподобен. Спасибо за память о гигантах джаза...
