  • William Padilla-Brown is a citizen scientist who, at a relatively young age, taught himself the ways of mushroom cultivation in order to change the world. William made waves as the first American to grow cordyceps, a rare orange mushroom that grows from the larvae of insects. William heads a citizen-run research center dedicated to environmental regeneration efforts with the belief that connecting more to the environment will aid humans in its preservation. He advocates growing your own mushrooms as a means for both food and education.

Love that Padilla- Brown is discussing soil health being revitalized through mycology (& inequity discussion also bomb). Some vintners in Oregon are having their wine certified through its mycology rich terroir. It's so fascinating! Firs are being inoculated with spores to see if a more drought resistant sapling can grow. This is next level and truth here. Thank you for drawing more attention to the wonderful world of mushrooms. While not discussed I'll add that micro dosing has brought every person I know doing it great relief from anxiety, depression and lack of focus or energy. Better lives. Mushrooms mixed with hair of all things helped clean up oil spills on coastlines in the past. Mushrooms are the godhead and an expression of love. Science has mush to learn about them. We do.
