Im I Biotechnology right now for Laboratory technician. At 35 after being a high-school drop out and a heroin addict for 12 years now 5 years naturally sober. Yes fungi is definitely part of it.
This is uplifting because I'm starting my sobriety journey but have been growing mushrooms for awhile. I learned from this video and back here to share cordyceps with others in recovery.
Thank you William for continually sharing your knowledge through your learning process with cordyceps!! A lot of people prefer to keep their secrets but there’s something so genuine about you sharing your growing and breeding techniques. For free. How much time you put into sharing info really shows how much you care about the advancement of cordyceps cultivation and research.
I love people like this. I could sit in a room and talk to him for hours. I am on the cusp of hiring out some space and starting to experiment with fungi growth. People like this guy can save you from so much failure!
As someone who's getting into the mycology industry I gotta say there are plenty of pressure cookers that hit 15 psi for only a slight increase in price than a 10psi cooker. Do yourself a favor and don't throw away money on one that won't hit 15. You're just going to upgrade as soon as you get your first contamination anyway so spend the extra 20-50 and save a hundred or more
Thank you for getting into just the right amount if science to keep the message rolling but also satiate the bases need to understand the practical bits while whetting the appetite to nerd out later, like the stroma stuff, chef's kiss, just perfect!
I admired your clear way this my first time to understand your way in making mushroom growing way but all times I make and try to grow any kind of mushroom all times I failed and failed I amupset
Reach out to us at info@northspore.com and we'll get you set up with materials and mushrooms that you can 100% succeed with. You'll graduate from there.

You make me so approachable! I have been really wanting to grow these mushrooms and have been afraid of failure but you have give me the confidence to go for it.
Wow I’ve seen them Growing wild in the Himalayas Thankyou so much for this share And beyond any word so grateful to find out as I embark on my own journey Om om
When I was 15 I was into growing magic mushrooms. Im not blaming them but 10 years and many addiction problems later, im happy to say im completely sober for 15 months, and this seems to be a fun hobby to pick up! Im thinking about trying it out! Thanks for the video.
So i use both modded and un-modded monotubs with and without the clips on the sides and for both i put a 1/2 lb to 1lb weight on top of each tub to hold the lid down and for me it helps maintain the humidity and prevents pests such as fungus or fruit gnats from entering in the tubs i used to tape the lids down but i no longer do this just add a weight in the center of the lid after putting it on the tub
I noticed on the recipe for the dry ingredients that there are two different measurements listed for the kelp. The first says 11g, the second says 5g. This has confused me... Northspore can you please clarify what measurement is supposed to be used? Measurement 1 is at 3:30 minutes into the video and Measurement 2 is at 5:45 into the video. Thank you for your time!
Good eye, this is confusing. I suggest going with the 5g, as I think that whole container had 11g. To clarify this I suggest referencing Will's other material such as: www.mycoshop.net/listing/820257112/cordyceps-cultivation-handbook-volume-2
This is the only vid I’ve ever seen growing Cordyceps in a mono tub. I’m tempted to try it now but keeping it at that low temp might be a challenge where I live unless I can put it in a mini fridge.
I was intrigued when you brought up research about Cordyceps Militaris on reducing HIV replication. I heard somewhere that HIV and Covid-19 are very similar in structure. I wonder if Cordyceps Militaris could also slow down Covid-19 when taken prophylactically?
Good questions that we unfortunately aren't equipped to answer. William won't be monitoring this thread, so I suggest asking these questions to him directly via social media.
First off, much respect to William & Northspore, I often reccommend your products and information in discussions regarding mycology and natural farming. So, I'm concerned, while minimal, there may be heavy metal and plastic contamination getting into the jar when drilling into it. Would it be good practice to remove the lid to drill the hole and then rinse it + wipe it down with alcohol? Might be overkill but for growing such an amazing fungi I think we should probably create the best environment as possible.
Oh hey it's the mushroom genius i saw on Vice! Good work man and thanx I wanna grow cordyceps and make tinctures Its weird to see the difference in substrate and method of growing compared to almost all other medicinal and gourmet mushrooms Very peculier mushroom , probably because it actually grows on insects when growing outdoors Btw what would happen if you would add al those nutrients to an Oyster substrate? Bigger yields and/or faster colonisation?
Thank you for your excellent presentation. I love your presentation. I have a question from your presentation, about how to inoculate Bins, "AFTER MIXING 855 GRAM OF RICE WITH 1 LITER OF BROTH TO THE INSTAPOT" SHOULD COOK FIRST BEFORE INOCULATING LIQUID CULTURE IN THE POT?
Thanks for the detailed video and hard work you do. I'm just wondering how come to grow in jars we need at least 10 psi for 45 minutes, but in the ben, just instabot cooking rice is enough? Basically, are we missing on sanitation when we grow in a ben?
Hey there! Thanks for an awesome video William. Question for folks trying the Instantpot way: How long do you want to pressure cook the rice and liquid? And what setting? I cook with an instant pot all the time and there is "less", "normal" and "more" settings for manually pressure cooking. Please elaborate if possible, I'd love to try this soon!
You're going to have to reach out to will on one of his channels or read his book. We sell that here: northspore.com/collections/cultivation-farming/products/the-cordyceps-cultivation-handbook-v-2
this deep dive on this is crazy i love how open this scene is just like the chemical scene it would be amazing if we would do this with other things too

WOW !!!!!!! I wonder if he ever talked with Paul Stamets ?! Oh I’m sorry I SHOULD have thanked you for the INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO !!!👋👍🙏🇭🇷🇨🇦🍁❤️ The longer I watch your video the more I realized you gonna you’re going into the Revolution Book 📖 of SHROOM Positive Truth !!
Finally, the good guys channel! This is very educational. Thank you, this relaxed me quite a bit. I wonder what made you invent such a complex mix for a substrate. Most of this is easily acquired and/or even fun to obtain (i.e the coconutmilk).
Thank you so much for your kindness to sharing your knowledge with us. I always love to see the results of people growing cordyceps and hope one day that I able to grow once but never have my gut to try it and now I watch your videos, it really push me to try it. One question for you that what is the liquid culture recipe to inject the spores into to make multiple liquid cultures for the future use? Thank you so much
Thank you, William. Do you know if there is any studies comparing the energy of wild grown cordyceps compared to the cultivated? (The bio-dynamic farming people would probably say yes, since the cordyceps is a predator that grows on certain insects.) Is there any way to quantify that? What say you about the use of fermentation to make the fruit more bioavailable for humans use? Thanks.
Hello, I have a very important question. I am considering using the following ingredients: Rye grain, parrot seed mix, brown rice flour, vermiculite. My question is this: Will it be successful after colonizing my jar (possibly, I would hope:) then directly transfer the colonized substrate to the fruiting chamber and add only - first layer of perlite, middle layer of mycelium, upper layer of vemiculite. Are these nutrients enough? thanks in advance
Hi. You have shown 11gm kelp powder in the ingredients list and while measuring it's 5gms. Which should I follow. Also is there an alternative for kelp powder and if I am using distilled water what should I change in the ingredients

Help! i'm making my broth with your recipe, and in dry ingredients you have 30 g of brown or wild rice; however i didn't see you add any of that, i rewatched this 4th rime but didn't see it used. is 30 g what goes in the jar with the broth? i've got this all made up, and am hung up by my doubt. thanks in advance, and thanks for the content. this is a big batch, can i freeze the broth?

wow! How am I only discovering you now! So grateful, thanks for sharing your gift
This is gonna be the #1 cordy video hands down. You explain and articulate details a hell of alot better the Ryan Paul Gates dose .
Definitely Check out Ryan’s Cordyceps genetics @ terrestrial fungi! He’s super meticulous with his breeding!!
I mean, I would say that they are both supplementary for each other.
Thank you for the kind words and for supporting the channel!
THANK YOU for taking the time to help us!!
so proud to see this from a young brother

He's great at this I agree but this recipe isn't anything particularly new, I've seen the same recipe posted on a popular forum dating back 9 years.
Been thinking bout growing some cordyceps just for my own use, and you shown all i need to know.
You make me so approachable! I have been really wanting to grow these mushrooms and have been afraid of failure but you have give me the confidence to go for it.

I can believe what you're saying because you keep your nails clean. Js
I inoculated my first 4 jars of cordyceps militaris 2 weeks ago and the rice is getting pretty orange. Super excited 😄 👍
Nice!!
Incredible contribution! Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your time and expertise!
I Love Mushrooms!
Superbly explained ! Love from India ❤️
William is amazing, such an inspiration for me!!!
Awesome wish I was there I love mushrooms and I want to go into mycology in college
Thank you so much! Very interesting. As a beginner, this world of fungi is a whole new horizon that I never knew of.
Thanks for watching!
Yes king! Love me some North Spore. ❤
I could watch this person explain the process all day.
Love this guy! More of him please
We're hoping we get to do more collaborations with him in the future!

You had to comment asking this instead of just doing it? Of course drill it and clean it, and don't just leave a bunch of shit inside. You're welcome
Great Work. Inspiring.

Keep an eye out and you're bound to find some!
Hello! This video is fantastic however leaves me with a couple questions... For the Insta pot method how long and what setting would you recommend? Also when you say 120ml of liquid culture that would be equivalent to 120cc correct, therefor I would need 12 10cc syringes correct?
Thank you!

thanks for making this vid, William. Much appreciated!!

Hey why are you sterilizing for only 45 minutes ? And is the temp at 10 PSI really sufficient for sterilization? Sorry I am a little bit confused because I thought you need 121° C (yes I am European :D ) for killing bacterial endospores! Very nice video, this information has such a big worth! Would love to support you! Is there any way that I can support you in Europe?
Best Regards
Is it possible to use a slow cooker instead of the instapot for the bin process?
Willy P-B! Thanks!
Thank you
Curious, can you put the rice from the instapot into jars or only cook the jars in the pressure cooker?
Such a cool dude
