Thank you ...I am about to start rebuilding mine. Greetings from Pakistan
Excellent video, thanks for making it
I was looking forward to it from Japan.
great content ... thank you
I'm dying to see that xr250r up and running
Perfecto
The screws holding the float bowl are NOT phillips. They are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). The heads are easily stripped if using a Phillips screwdriver. Amazon and eBay sell the JIS.
You are correct

At min. 17:18 does the plastic fuel guard piece mounted on the main Jet has to have that hole alined with the pilot/idle jet?
I believe so
I stripped my carb to its core an am rebuilding. Where the cable pulley inserts through the return spring into the carb body is there any type of lubricant used for the bushings? Thank you
Theres a plastic washer that prevents wear between the metal parts. I suppose you could put a dab of assembly lube on there but i have never had a problem with wear or sticking.
@@WeekendAdventureRides Thanks for the good info!! I found the plastic washer in a spare parts bag
what is the diference with 96-04 , i bougth a 88-95 kit but orings seems diferent :/. my carburetor is exactly just like yours.
Difference idk specifically. .. but definitely different
Hi, just some help. At 2min 29 seconds you mentioned 'this one has a spring on it, don't lose that spring'. Where dit that spring come out? The larger brass jet hole or the smaller? I was not paying attention when disassembling mine.
The spring is on the fuel mixture screw. The skinny pointed one. Not one of the two jets
Great video! After I cleaned mine in the ultrasonic, I noticed two felt washers that were falling apart. One in the hole for the choke and one in the hole for the throttle. I may be able to salvage the throttle one but the other is toast. Are they absolutely necessary? Or would it bo ok to leave out for light recreational riding?
Carberators can be very temperamental; I would replace everything with new and use the parts diagrams to reassemble.

Some missing pieces may cause vacuum leaks
At 17:25 mins you had a litttle brass piece on the table. Where does that go?
I believe the only things that are brass are the jets and I had a few different ones on the table
Good video only complaint is the camera should have been the other way as if we were looking the same direction as you.
I appreciate the feedback!
How many likes can a person leave wow
I rebuilt mine correctly but when I hook my throttle linkage back up the throttle is sticking and won’t retract right… when I take my throttle cables back off.. the slide mechanism works perfect… hook my throttle cables back up it sticks either way you turn it… what am I missing?? I know I’m putting the cables in the right spot.. idk
If I only install the cable that opens the throttle it works fine if install the top cable also it sticks
Lube the cables check the resistence to rotation in the throttle tube. It has to be something in one of those two areas
What do you soak your carb in? Ultrasonic?
Brake clean
On the idle screw do you really need to washer and rubber seal on top of the spring? Don’t think mine had those on there when I pulled out the old ones.
It probably would function fine without it. Is it stuck at the bottom of the threads? The washer recently damage to the carb body where the spring contacts.
@@WeekendAdventureRides so I just did a rebuild and used all the new parts, bike starts first kick but I get a weird bog at the middle of the throttle, thinking I should maybe just use the old jets but don’t know as this is the first time I have done one of these
There are a lot of good videos out there about jetting. Mid throttle is likely an issue with the height of the needle on the slide. I would open it up all the way and see if you get bog between 3/4 and full throttle. That's your main jet.
So an update, one issue I think I solved is that the rubber o-ring from the last jet was stuck in the carb, got it out and reinstalled, now I realized that I some how set the choke up backwards so all the way down is full choke I think and when I put up it dies instantly, while riding on middle choke it didn’t seem to be as boggy. Any suggestions? Thanks I really appreciate the responses
@@jerrynelson2216 did you adjust your fuel mixture screw?
What glove are those? And do they stop fuel and liquids from touching your skin?
I generally suggest surgical or exam gloves. They work the best for dexterity.
@@WeekendAdventureRides yah I use mechanic gloves but they tear so easy
I would look for surgical gloves. They are about twice as thick as exam gloves.
how important is the plastic piece connected to the main jet mine isnt on there
It's a splash baffle. Limits sputtering when on rough terrain
@@WeekendAdventureRides Cool and on the honda parts diagram I cant seem to locate where the main jet (#32in the diagram) is in the carb. was trying to look close to see if you put it on before or after that plastic piece.. plus theres like 12 different options to choose from so i dont even know where to start.. also noticed there was a small piece around 17:17 that was never put in any idea where it goes?
Both jets go into the bottom of the carb inside the float bowl.
11:57 the screw will not go in and I can’t figure out why and I’m literally about to throw the damn thing across the garage
If you remove it from the carb body does the screw go in easily?
@@WeekendAdventureRides I put it together without the big throttle spring thing and it lined up nicely and i would probably have the rest of it back together by now except I asked my dear old dad for help and he cross threaded it (this was before I figured out the spring was preventing it from lining up). Anyways we have to tap it now. Thank you!
(The spring is an issue because it’s bent, I got the bike used. They had the diaphragm in there backwards too lol)
I'm glad you got it figured out those springs can make it tricky!
@@WeekendAdventureRides yeah lol I think I’m just gonna order a spring
One of the coils of the return spring is jammed between surface of the cam where it’s supposed to meet the carb.. I had the same problem..
