2:58 broke me, that small tribute to Azhdaha was so beautifully done. Seeing Zhongli finally being peaceful and content with the rest of Liyue celebrating all around him was also wonderful. This year's Lantern Rite was beyond amazing, thank you Mihoyo.

It's really interesting to see that they showed playable characters AND npcs. I found it pretty heartwarming that they still try to implement them and give them some sort of story i.e. Vlad and Nadia AND THEY EVEN INCLUDED AZHDAHA I'M SOBBING
1:04 the Snezhnaya pen-pals reunited this year too for the Lantern Rite, this small things is what you don't see in games anymore, the utmost care and love this developers have for their game is simply amazing

All these games have little details that symbolize greater meanings ex: William's arrival in the beginning of nioh 1 being showed at the end of nioh 2 cuz nioh 2's a prequel, with mhw, Nergigante's been the flagship monster and the og trouble maker for a long while but in the end of the dlc iceborne, he was symbolized to be the balancer of nature and whether we love or hate him, nobody could deny that he is important. Not just that, he canonically had a lot of beef going around with the main character and the story also symbolized that by the end of iceborne's story, they both had a certain level of respect for each other as they both were about to Duke it out one last time and god of War 2018 when Athena visited Kratos when he was trying to save his son and she told him that no matter how much he tries, he can never run from the past and he'll always be a monster. She was implying all the horrendous atrocities he's committed and all the Gods he killed due to his selfish nature and even if he fakes his death, runs to a new country and starts a new life, he will always be what he has been deep down
Seeing that even that Fatui couple were enjoying themselves at 1:04 was so heartwarming! i love these cutscenes. The Liyue cast is so lovable, even my boy Xiao was smiling ♥

@@exhalerwolf1272 there was the Fatui duo from Northland Bank and the guy from "Good Sign" comission and his crush. But those pairings were never concealed in the first place (it's information you have access to), so I don't think they are the ones the OP was refereing to.
There were two parts that really got me: first were the Fatui guards meeting up and having such a wholesome moment, sort of reminding us that even the "bad guys" can have sweet moments happening during festivals and holidays, etc. Second was the smaller firework celebration in Qince village - the big cities always have extravagant displays during holidays and it's always sweet to see smaller more intimate celebrations happening in less populated areas which happens in RL too. idk. it was a nice touch instead of just the usual focus on big cutscene, spam main characters. Well done, Mihoyo, always nailing it with these cutscenes and now making Lantern Rite something to look forward to each year!
Yeah, I despise the Fatui but I really liked the relationship between the Northland Bank guards and wanted to see more of it, so it was great seeing them meet up

When the tune started playing at 1:00 i almost teared up. Lantern rite 1.3 was my first genshin patch and i’m can’t believe it’s been a year since then
These are always the best cutscenes. Nothing in this game will ever beat seeing these characters hanging around and interacting with each other; it feels so lively it's heartwarming
@Rogikel The main story line doesn't really revolve around Lumine. This might be a spoiler for you so read at your own risk. Lumine was revealed to be Dainsleif's past partner and is now holding a high position in the Abyss Order. Thus, it does not make sense to use Lumine in the cutscenes. The main story is that Aether explores the world, etc. to find some answers regarding Lumine, the Abyss, Order, Khaenri'ah, etc. Aether is supposed to be the one looking for Lumine, he's the one going through all seven nations and meeting all the characters. Lumine's story is still very much a mystery so we might not be able to see her in cutscenes for a while.

the father and daughter relationship between Zhongli and Hu Tao is absolutely amazing and very beautiful as well, this entire cutscene is. it made me tear up
The way she says "Did ya see that? Way over there, a firework that looks just like a pig" and then Zhongli replies with "Oh, so it does" definitely reminds me of how kids bring their parents random thing like rocks and the parents have to act like it's the coolest thing ever

@@yuzumeow Zhongli calls her a child (which is not something he does with any other adult character) and she hangs out with all the other teenagers of Liyue (Xiangling, Chongyun, Xingqiu, etc) she definitely could be 18-19 which would be legal, but still a teenager. Zhongli looks like he's in his late twenties or thirties but has an even older mentality (since he's literally thousands of years old). As I said before that's a huge age gap between someone that's barely a legal adult and a fully developed grown man, a lot of people are uncomfortable with that.
Truly truly beautiful. Anyone who has discovered all the parts of Liyue would recognize all the easter eggs they added in. To Smiley Yanxiao and Jiangxue’s friendship and Xiao looking down over all of them, the tribute to Azdaha, to the fatui couple meeting at last! I especially enjoyed seeing every liyue character there is in this, even (finally, haha) Xinyan! The music, the storyline, the games, all have become so much fun! and they weren’t so difficult it made it frustrating! And the animation improving so much-it was fantastic! seeing everyone be so excited about the lantern rite made it especially heartwarming. I loved that even the mililith was running around in excitement! Great job Mihoyo! This is probably my most favorite even you have ever done! I can’t wait to see the next update!
I can't believe this was 4 mins long... The beautiful cutscene went by in a flash... If only there was an option in the game to replay these cutscenes, cuz in the game they hit totally different than on TH-cam 😭

I love the fact that Qiqi was able to remember Lantern Rite. Considering how she became immortal due/thanks to the Adepti, her family is long gone while she still lives. But they were most probably able to celebrate Lantern Rite with her while they were still alive. I do hope that Lantern Rite brought happy memories of fireworks, food and family (the three essentials of the Chinese New Year and Lantern Rite!) to our beloved 50-50 ruiner Qiqi ♥ Happy Lantern Rite everyone! In our birthday voice line, Qiqi says if she reads something every day, she'll remember it at some point. (how she remembers our birthday) For Qiqi to remember Lantern Rite was genuinely adorable as hell it makes me cry every time, she's been alive for 100 years so it seems like she remembers it now that she's seen it every year

I understand, but I think that’s intentional. This lantern was very festive and about celebrating whilst the 2023 one was more about history, the adepti, moving on from past losses and starting the chapter of a new, modern liyue. To me, both had their very emotional moments ;-;
Yes, Lantern Rite 2022 was the best, something that would not be easily topped based on the cutscene alone, let alone if you take into account the rest: the amazing new story chapter it was paired with. I do think the event story itself was much more fleshed out and interesting though.
After struggling with ptsd from my military days for the past 5 years, this cutscene is the first time in these past 5 years that I was able to hear fireworks without basically losing my mind. Thank you Mihoyo, this cutscene might have just made my life a little bit easier...

The timing of this event is perfect as well, since it represents Chinese New Year celebration and now is just over 12am in Beijing which marks the start of a lunar new year, fireworks everywhere for Chinese all over the world , families gathered for reunion dinner . This event just sync so well with the real world event, it’s simply amazing and heart warming at the same time, thank you MHY !

This cutscene makes me feel warm and emotional. It's not only because of those main characters. Moreover, it showcases every ordinary people how they live their lives and enjoy the festival, some of them may be dodgy business people, even break laws to cut taxes, some busy on doing their jobs even on holiday and away from their families. You can find true friendship and love among them. It’s not only a Liyue(Chinese) thing but applies worldwide. In these few minutes, there's nothing about the COVID, politics, hate. Happy Lantern Rite!
This cutscene hits hard man. Seeing everyone so happy, even Azhdaha getting a scene, it all felt so alive. Im honored for this to be my first Lantern Rite festival
it feels like it's so beautiful that you cant even describe it, and its too much that it makes you (also me) cry. i had to come here to rewatch bcs when the cutscene's played in game, i started crying when i saw Madame Ping (somehow reminds me of my grandma), Yanfei, Ganyu and Shenhe. props to Mihoyo for creating such masterpiece.
The amount of detail is astonishing, they included npcs couples having livid action, the little segments with the mililith and even included Chongyuns popsicle because this would naturally make him excited. Wonderful

This was absolutely amazing! They really went all out, to showcase small things/friendships conveyed without words, like Ganyu approaching ShenHe, the tribue to Azhdaha, Xiao on the rooftop, the reunion of the Adepti, YunJin and XinYan, Guoba, Xiangling, Chongyun and Xingqiu, and of COURSE HuTao and Zhongli...it really allowed us to see more of them as just...PEOPLE, and that made it so special! I was really happy to see the NPCs getting love too! Seeing Smiley YanXiao, Ying'er, the Fatui penpals, the villagers on Qince Village, and the various people of LiYue harbour just made it all feel so... "together"! I say it eveytime: No matter what people *think*, I don't think anyone loves Genshin and their players more than MiHoYo and it truly shows! Thank you for another great event, one of many more to come, and I hope everyone has a happy Lantern Rite! 新年快乐!

Im coming back here two years later. This was my first lantern rite in genshin and rewatching this scene made me cry. I genuinely love this game and i reminded me how happy i was when i first found this game. I hope genshin can further improve now that 5.0 will be here in a few days
some facts to amaze you even more: 1. this is in the same patch where there's also Yun Jin's amazing opera in 2. dropped on new year occasion 3. THE GAME IS FREE

ME TOO. It’s such a good feeling, nostalgia. I remember fighting bosses with my friends. Now some of them aren’t friends with eachother. Having online friends carry me at AR 35. I’m so excited for everything mihoyo has to offer. Sumeru is actually so cool, and the anime coming out. I’m so excited for next years lantern rite.

Mihoyo really outdone, outsold everything with this Lantern Rite cutscene. They didn't forget a single Liyue character. Almost shed a tear when they present Azhdaha's tomb ToT Also it's really heartwarming to see everyone enjoy themselves.
It feels like they did the exact opposite of what they did in the first LR. What the first LR lacked in characters, they gave us tenfold this time around.
The improvements this Lantern Rite make it so much better than the last one. Props to Mihoyo for listening to the players' feedback and letting us spend the Lantern Rite with the playable characters. Even though some only appeared briefly, it feels much more special getting to see the Liyue cast. Plus, the event quests don't take too long now.

Every part of this is amazing and wholesome. Yun Jin pulling Xinyan to see the fireworks, Beidou and Ningguang flirting, Ganyu officially meeting Shenhe, Hu Tao harassing Zhongli, Gouba dangling off the fence. Keqing’s and Xiao’s little smiles. Even the npc’s were heartwarming. Nadia and Vlad were so cute! And the scene right after Zhongli with Azhdaha and the other adepti was a nice callback as well.
Theres just something about Lantern Rite that makes me feel like a kid, I really love to just walk around the decorated part of Liyue and take in the beauty! 33 year old genshin old lady here xD This video was BEAUTIFUL!

Ok, so everyone is, for obvious and good reason, talking about al the interactions it shows with the playable characters. But, I'm not the only one who was super happy when it showed the two Fatui who guard the bank on different shifts and have been extanging letters and basically feel in love meeting up, right? I don't think this is the first time it's shown them met. But it really made me happy to see that again.

I wish Mihoyo instead plays a video in the cutscene instead of turning the in game graphics to max during a cutscene. bc my cutscenes always flicker and lag a lot. I think the only cutscene I remember that was perfectly working well was Yoimiya's fireworks show
i will never shut up about this cutscene - the way it captures the mundanity of daily life amidst the excitement of a big national holiday (lantern rite) is so well done! the glimpses into the lives of the people living in the city, the nods to the npcs (where's timaeus for ying er), and characters excitedly watching the fireworks in an amazing illustration of friendship...this cutscene is so warm & comforting :((
See a lot of people not getting the hidden hint of Baizu and Qiqi: they are implying that doctors and Nurses does not take break during lantern rites, just as the reference to Chinese New Years, that doctors and nurses does not take breaks during this time

OH MY GOSH, THIS EVENT WAS AMAZING. THIS CUTSCENE IS ALSO THE ICING ON THE CAKE! Every one of our Liyue crew got to hang out with their friends and smile and have a generally fun time, EVEN IN THE NPCS. This was also by far one of the best moments in genshin impact, because it honestly made my heart fuzzy. EVEN THE TRAVELER SAID SOMETHING, in the English dub. But no doubt that at this moment, Genshin is just an awesome game!
There's something about this scenematic which made us feel sincere and wholesome, seeing all those characters interact with one another in every way gives a harmonious and nostalgic feel to the game. Thank you, Mihoyo! Happy Latern Rite!

All these games have little details that symbolize greater meanings ex: William's arrival in the beginning of nioh 1 being showed at the end of nioh 2 cuz nioh 2's a prequel, with mhw, Nergigante's been the flagship monster and the og trouble maker for a long while but in the end of the dlc iceborne, he was symbolized to be the balancer of nature and whether we love or hate him, nobody could deny that he is important. Not just that, he canonically had a lot of beef going around with the main character and the story also symbolized that by the end of iceborne's story, they both had a certain level of respect for each other as they both were about to Duke it out one last time and god of War 2018 when Athena visited Kratos when he was trying to save his son and she told him that no matter how much he tries, he can never run from the past and he'll always be a monster. She was implying all the horrendous atrocities he's committed and all the Gods he killed due to his selfish nature and even if he fakes his death, runs to a new country and starts a new life, he will always be what he has been deep down

There were two parts that really got me: first were the Fatui guards meeting up and having such a wholesome moment, sort of reminding us that even the "bad guys" can have sweet moments happening during festivals and holidays, etc. Second was the smaller firework celebration in Qince village - the big cities always have extravagant displays during holidays and it's always sweet to see smaller more intimate celebrations happening in less populated areas which happens in RL too. idk. it was a nice touch instead of just the usual focus on big cutscene, spam main characters. Well done, Mihoyo, always nailing it with these cutscenes and now making Lantern Rite something to look forward to each year!

@Rogikel The main story line doesn't really revolve around Lumine. This might be a spoiler for you so read at your own risk.
Lumine was revealed to be Dainsleif's past partner and is now holding a high position in the Abyss Order. Thus, it does not make sense to use Lumine in the cutscenes. The main story is that Aether explores the world, etc. to find some answers regarding Lumine, the Abyss, Order, Khaenri'ah, etc. Aether is supposed to be the one looking for Lumine, he's the one going through all seven nations and meeting all the characters. Lumine's story is still very much a mystery so we might not be able to see her in cutscenes for a while.
@Rogikel Also, don't be so offended that they use Aether and not Lumine. Everything has a reason. Also, it's just a video game featuring a story. Zhongli looks like he's in his late twenties or thirties but has an even older mentality (since he's literally thousands of years old). As I said before that's a huge age gap between someone that's barely a legal adult and a fully developed grown man, a lot of people are uncomfortable with that.
Truly truly beautiful. Anyone who has discovered all the parts of Liyue would recognize all the easter eggs they added in. To Smiley Yanxiao and Jiangxue’s friendship and Xiao looking down over all of them, the tribute to Azdaha, to the fatui couple meeting at last! I especially enjoyed seeing every liyue character there is in this, even (finally, haha) Xinyan! The music, the storyline, the games, all have become so much fun! and they weren’t so difficult it made it frustrating! And the animation improving so much-it was fantastic! seeing everyone be so excited about the lantern rite made it especially heartwarming. I loved that even the mililith was running around in excitement! Great job Mihoyo! This is probably my most favorite even you have ever done! I can’t wait to see the next update!

I love the fact that Qiqi was able to remember Lantern Rite. Considering how she became immortal due/thanks to the Adepti, her family is long gone while she still lives.

Yes, Lantern Rite 2022 was the best, something that would not be easily topped based on the cutscene alone, let alone if you take into account the rest: the amazing new story chapter it was paired with.
I do think the event story itself was much more fleshed out and interesting though.
After struggling with ptsd from my military days for the past 5 years, this cutscene is the first time in these past 5 years that I was able to hear fireworks without basically losing my mind.
Thank you Mihoyo, this cutscene might have just made my life a little bit easier...

The timing of this event is perfect as well, since it represents Chinese New Year celebration and now is just over 12am in Beijing which marks the start of a lunar new year, fireworks everywhere for Chinese all over the world , families gathered for reunion dinner . This event just sync so well with the real world event, it’s simply amazing and heart warming at the same time, thank you MHY !

Moreover, it showcases every ordinary people how they live their lives and enjoy the festival, some of them may be dodgy business people, even break laws to cut taxes, some busy on doing their jobs even on holiday and away from their families. You can find true friendship and love among them. It’s not only a Liyue(Chinese) thing but applies worldwide. In these few minutes, there's nothing about the COVID, politics, hate. This was absolutely amazing! They really went all out, to showcase small things/friendships conveyed without words, like Ganyu approaching ShenHe, the tribue to Azhdaha, Xiao on the rooftop, the reunion of the Adepti, YunJin and XinYan, Guoba, Xiangling, Chongyun and Xingqiu, and of COURSE HuTao and Zhongli...it really allowed us to see more of them as just...PEOPLE, and that made it so special!
I was really happy to see the NPCs getting love too! Seeing Smiley YanXiao, Ying'er, the Fatui penpals, the villagers on Qince Village, and the various people of LiYue harbour just made it all feel so... "together"! I say it eveytime: No matter what people *think*, I don't think anyone loves Genshin and their players more than MiHoYo and it truly shows! Thank you for another great event, one of many more to come, and I hope everyone has a happy Lantern Rite! 新年快乐!

I had tears in my eyes when I first saw this cutscene in game last year and now I am crying again. I love this game so much.
ME TOO. It’s such a good feeling, nostalgia. I remember fighting bosses with my friends. Now some of them aren’t friends with eachother. Having online friends carry me at AR 35. I’m so excited for everything mihoyo has to offer. Sumeru is actually so cool, and the anime coming out. I’m so excited for next years lantern rite.

Mihoyo really outdone, outsold everything with this Lantern Rite cutscene. They didn't forget a single Liyue character. Almost shed a tear when they present Azhdaha's tomb ToT Also it's really heartwarming to see everyone enjoy themselves.
It feels like they did the exact opposite of what they did in the first LR. What the first LR lacked in characters, they gave us tenfold this time around.

The improvements this Lantern Rite make it so much better than the last one. Props to Mihoyo for listening to the players' feedback and letting us spend the Lantern Rite with the playable characters. Even though some only appeared briefly, it feels much more special getting to see the Liyue cast. Plus, the event quests don't take too long now.
And the quest this time is quite fun too

@@tcrzsppr3163I agree... Last year's was good but this year's felt lacking, like it could've been a hangout for Gaming, on top of that most of the cast of Liyue (or at least half) was missing...
Every part of this is amazing and wholesome. Yun Jin pulling Xinyan to see the fireworks, Beidou and Ningguang flirting, Ganyu officially meeting Shenhe, Hu Tao harassing Zhongli, Gouba dangling off the fence. Keqing’s and Xiao’s little smiles. Even the npc’s were heartwarming. Nadia and Vlad were so cute! And the scene right after Zhongli with Azhdaha and the other adepti was a nice callback as well.

Ok, so everyone is, for obvious and good reason, talking about al the interactions it shows with the playable characters. But, I'm not the only one who was super happy when it showed the two Fatui who guard the bank on different shifts and have been extanging letters and basically feel in love meeting up, right? I don't think this is the first time it's shown them met. But it really made me happy to see that again.

I believe last year, they were seen standing with each other and you could talk to them, but it seemed as if they were still completely unaware that the other was the one they were writing letters to. So...Ima gonna headcanon that they've found out now :)

I wish Mihoyo instead plays a video in the cutscene instead of turning the in game graphics to max during a cutscene. bc my cutscenes always flicker and lag a lot.
I think the only cutscene I remember that was perfectly working well was Yoimiya's fireworks show
i will never shut up about this cutscene - the way it captures the mundanity of daily life amidst the excitement of a big national holiday (lantern rite) is so well done! the glimpses into the lives of the people living in the city, the nods to the npcs (where's timaeus for ying er), and characters excitedly watching the fireworks in an amazing illustration of friendship...this cutscene is so warm & comforting :((

See a lot of people not getting the hidden hint of Baizu and Qiqi: they are implying that doctors and Nurses does not take break during lantern rites, just as the reference to Chinese New Years, that doctors and nurses does not take breaks during this time
Probably also tribute to all health workers around the world for their hard works during this pandemic.

Every one of our Liyue crew got to hang out with their friends and smile and have a generally fun time, EVEN IN THE NPCS.
This was also by far one of the best moments in genshin impact, because it honestly made my heart fuzzy.
EVEN THE TRAVELER SAID SOMETHING, in the English dub. But no doubt that at this moment, Genshin is just an awesome game!
There's something about this scenematic which made us feel sincere and wholesome, seeing all those characters interact with one another in every way gives a harmonious and nostalgic feel to the game. Thank you, Mihoyo! Happy Latern Rite!
