      Did you also need to replace the entire plastic part? Or just the weather strip?
      If you don't mind could you give me the link to the part you purchased for your 2013 ford explorer, my dad has one as well and I have a 2015 but I couldn't figure out what that dang part was called until I saw this video.

    Thanks for posting this. Very helpful, worked perfectly. A key tip was to wiggle the wiper arm while prying - they did come off easily, but only with the wiggle. You REALLY don't want to put to much torque on the wiper arm rods/assembly. Also, you can actually easily reach the underside/bottom of the six "push pins". If you are having trouble unscrewing them you can squeeze the bottom of them and almost push them up and out from below

      @@LivinWith3M Now if we could just figure out how to repair the one stupid little strip of felt/rubber on our existing part we woundn't have to spend so much on the new part. I wish Dorman made the replacement for our Explorer's - they make them for the F-150's and are one-third the cost of the OEM part.

    Thanks Mike for a great detail video. Our 2017 Ford Explorer XLT, we bought new has some problem. Cowl rubber seal is falling apart including the side windshield rubber seals deteriorating as well. Ford needs to improve durability especially with rubber seals. Re-design and offer replacement rubber seals if plastic cowl is in good condition. Again thanks

    Excellent job and it's much appreciated. We also have a 2017 and it's incredible that the cowl has already deteriorated. Ours is as bad or worse than yours was. I am going to have to replace the A-Pillar moldings on the sides of the windshield as well, since they are crapped out too and look just as bad as the cowl. Anyway, thanks very much for taking the time to make such a perfect how-to video, and in particular for pointing out the potential gotchas like keeping the wiper caps and blade arms separated by side and not getting the weather stripping trapped under the cowling on the sides when reinstalling!!

      How do I replace the seal around the entire windshield? This video was very helpful thank you. Same vehicle!

    • @Staestc
      @Staestc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know that the seal around the entire window is best handled as a do it yourself job. The parts that this video addresses are parts other than the windshield install as I understand it. For a windshield removal and reinstall I would call one of the companies that do that. It’s not hard to do it, having watched them, but they have advantages in tools that make it stupid simple for them, and they have the experience that makes it simple for them. The parts that are failing (that should not be, IMO) are simple to replace and are covered in this video. If the A-Pillar seals are not in this video, then Google them. Beyond those, it seems like you must be talking total windshield replacement which is a whole different deal.

The wiper linkage assembly is made of cast metal and is easy to snap where it connects to the wiper arm pin. I have the Lisle 54150 wiper arm puller and it has served me very well in removing wiper arms from several different vehicles.
