this homemade amp sounds AMAZING!!!!!! for what it's worth, you have all my respect... you're like king mida... you took stone which became gold... congrats... wish i had same knowledge..
I actually said "oh my God" out loud towards the end when you had the cabinet all covered! It is so freakin cool!!! This is on my bucket list. I just got a really cool Philco radio cabinet from the 30's that I want to put an amp like this inside. This is exactly what I want. An extremely excellent job. Fantastic that it's made from mostly salvaged parts...my goal too! Sounds incredible too! Just the way I like!👍😎🎸🎶
That guitar tone is straight-up mesmerizing mesmerized. Been searching for tone like that for a long time, experimenting with all kind of weird s*** my favorite of all being Timex alarm clock as a preamp combined with I Curtis Mathes 350 watt tube amp home stereo receiver that's older than I am. But that tone...👍🤘
Thank you. Yes recording is only through the microphone. My amp is based on the well-known scheme AX84 P1 with minor modifications for transformers and capacitors that I had from an old radio.
I tried this once only instead of a tube amp it was a hairdryer and instead of rocking out with an electric guitar I held the hairdryer like it was a microphone. I was having an awesome stage pressense and rocking really hard doing spin kicks. When I looked up like half the kids in the neighborhood were in my living room laughing at me.
Thanks. But I'm more of a beginner. It's my first attempt at a DIY amplifier. Based on the diagram by AX84. With modifications scheme for using old transformers and all other technical questions uncle helped me (and the questions were a lot). Then I just had to make the chassis, small pcb, hold and mount components, all connect the dots according to schema, screwed wooden crate and pull her leatherette. And that amplifier plays I was pleasantly surprised ....
In the first and third parts I played Squier Strat (neck, middle - some squier ceramic single; bridge - SD STK-S1b). The second part I played on Cort M520 with humbuckers (RM classic neck , RM bridge).
The tone sounds great. I have all the equipment and I'm electrically and mechanically inclined, but I can't seem to get a project going. Well, my last 4 guitars got stolen so even when I build an amp, I've got no guitar anyway. :(
amp sounds awesome...cant wait till I can make music similar to that come out of my guitar even lol. single notes in chords aren't exactly my strong point nor are bar chords for that matter.
You had a good idea. I like EL84 sound. Nice job with the cabinet !!!Can have a link to schematic you used ? at 2:56 it seems that the BF shielded cable (signal from input jack to the grid of pre-amp tube) has both end of the shield soldered to ground !!! Why?People doesn't do that at all !! That creates ground loops, hum.
That sounds lovely and creamy :0) Don't spose you live near Suffolk? If so, I've got a lovely old "His Masters Voice" valve radio cabinet with original speaker that's just begging to be a small valve amp. I'd love to commission someone to make me one. I'd have a go myself but I think you need to know what you're doing when it comes to valves ! Cheers Gary
.............I BOUGHT A COUPLE OF TUBE RADIOS AND AM TRYING TO MAKE A AMP FOR GUITAR..............THE WIREING DOSNT LOOK COMPLECATED............DO U HAVE A DIAGRAM FOR THAT.......?
:) ja sem na to pak koukal už no.. :) máš to pěkný. Já sem nedavno rozjel stary radio 532A echo.. ty trafa sou stejny... aspon co vidim.. :) a hraju přes něj taky paráda.. lepší než moje stávající kombo - fender - Mustang 1
Yes .... There's another video I had also recorded on compact canon ... just for an idea because the video sound from compact is horrible ... much treble and distorts .. th-cam.com/video/x5Kfl8XxMMM/w-d-xo.html Sonic lies on top of blackheart head out of the picture and plays through its speakers
it's two triodes, cathode biased above ground, with V1 going to V2, and then a pentode as the output stage. No push-pull on the output. This is NOT the amplifier above, but a diagram of something similar is here: www.guitarkitbuilder.com/img/mod102/mod_102_schematic.pdf
I actually never got chills from listening to background of some DIY video. Until now. Man, I love that sound, so good.
It'll be that Karaoke mic........
I actually enjoyed listing to the guitar playing....I couldn't stop listening until it was done...nice!

Californication sound s GREAT on this amp!
I like your Sonic Video Canon video, it is a good tone.
Have you tried the amp using TDA2005M? It's given in the "Circuits" section of the site electronicsforu.
really like the first bit, reminds me a little of gotten by slash mainly the bluesy fills in the song but yeh i like it :)
The tone sounds great. I have all the equipment and I'm electrically and mechanically inclined, but I can't seem to get a project going. Well, my last 4 guitars got stolen so even when I build an amp, I've got no guitar anyway.

Very nicely done, what did you paint the transformers with? There's a lot of bottom end for a EL84.....sounds sweet.
Buetiful tone
woaw so cool ..i want make one like this.
good sound, powerful
great sound ! which guitar and pickups you were using please ?

I can't read the schematics. Are they posted anywhere?

Thank you. The first and the second record is improvisation, the third attempt at red hot chilli peppers.
This sounds so good.
Around 1:20 you have a REALLY sweet sound, is that the amp alone that can make those noises? No pedals?

Sound is like "The Stooges" 1st LP, sizzling and screamy...a wah-wah and you could go for it! Would be great to hear one with a "Valve" recti-fier?
That sounds lovely and creamy :0)

You can do that easily. I've done it myself. Just watch the heater pin! It's got a lot of juice on it!
is it catode biased or fix biased ? i notice the trimmer on the pcb board
no, the trimmer is between the 6,3v heater outlets .. as a humming eliminator
how much would it cost for the parts to make this amp?
hi..what is the value for variable switch you used for the middle?

Zdravím, potřeboval bych radu ohledně toho kde sehnat ty trafa nebo kde mám hledat? Jinak zvouček je jako pohlazení. to musím uznat.
