    I was very pleased to hear you say hello to the nice lady with two dogs.Next time pause and attempt a conversation. A lovely walk, only because you carried me all the way. Excellent views and interesting sights. Not a mask in sight, a lot of mud, a water fall, a semi undergound missile bunker, amazing stone walls, lots of steps and lovely gorse flowers. (NZ farmers wouldn't agree with your gorse comment. They have struggling for over100 years trying to get rid of it since early settlers introduced it.) It grows very well over here. Another excellent vlog thank you Phil, your walks are great value. Do take care.

    What a fantastic walk. Many video makers would do well to learn from your editing technique. So beautiful there. That waterfall was superb. I don’t think I would tire of listening to it. Great views across the valley, but what a climb! Not sure about White Nancy. Apart from the challenge of actually getting there, I couldn’t see much to it. Very strange structure, but I wouldn’t call it pretty. The passersby didn’t give you much room on what was sometimes a narrow path . Thanks so much. It was like being with you.

    Nice video, thank you. My daughter lives in Macclesfield and we have run together up to White Nancy several times. The last time I went on my own, navigated all those steps down safely and then tripped over the rock just before you get on the road! Luckily not badly hurt, but I really did feel the worried bystanders were wondering why a geriatic was even out running. All the best.

    Thank you for that dose of country air. I can't believe how unfriendly the folk are on these walks, it's as if you're invisible. A smile and nod of acknowledgement cost nothing. Well, a very successful adaptation to circumstance. For some time now you’ve done a brilliant job of showcasing rural Britain via the canal system. Now this is temporarily curtailed you are doing it via cycle and walking. Superb. Interesting your comments about flowering gorse. Here in New Zealand it’s very much a noxious pest and there are significant schemes to eradicate as much as possible. It was introduced into N Z by early settlers to create hedgerows reminiscent of the old country. However, once introduced it went crazy wild and literally covered thousands of acres and became quickly out of control. Gorse is very much a dirty word here in N Z.

    I find it fascinating that UK landowners allow folks to walk across their property. In the USA, landowners would call the police if they caught someone on their property. I wondered if there is some incentive offered by UK authorities for landowners to allow public onto their land.

    • @NarrowboatJourneys
      @NarrowboatJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The public footpaths in this country are ancient rites of way.

    • @tomnicholson2115
      @tomnicholson2115 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If farmers try to stop the public or close or block paths their fields generally get invaded by an angry public, even little used paths are jealously guarded by walkers, it's a right we don't give up on. In Scotland you have the right to roam anywhere, though not to damage crops or disturb livestock. Edit here, the incentive for farmers is therefore not to have protesters howling at them 😋 It's a little country we need somewhere to get some fresh air, right!

    Two walking videos in a row. "I'm tired. Hope I sleep well tonight". lol Great video. Just curious: Don't people greet each other? I heard no "good morning, good afternoon, how's the hike, doin ok?" That kind of stuff. Was it because you had a camera? I was just surprised that nobody greeted you except the one steep climb and the one sheep/shot. Here in the U.S. we have plenty of paved bike trails, but no walking/scenic trails such as you have. Your so lucky. Notice lots of people walking there in the UK, especially along the canals. Take care.
