Nice job! Mark Lowery WROTE the lyrics to the song. in 1984 Mark started to think about what he would like to ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him.
As someone mentioned, Mark Lowry is and has been a fantastic singer in both his solo career and, most notably, in the southern gospel(ish) group Gaither Vocal Band for decades and decades. He’s also a comedian and just a super great guy. He has a YT channel, too. And he wrote the lyrics to this song (fellow gospel artist Buddy Greene wrote the music) wayyy back when. Early-mid 80s, I think. I remember performing the sign language to it for a school Christmas program when I was about 6 or 7...I’m mid 30s now and still remember the sign language lol. Gosh..now I feel old.
Voctave is another acapella rabbit hole. Jamie Ray is the founder of the group. He does all the arrangements and is a genius. They are based out of Orlando and most if not all have Worked at Epcot center. Kate Lott is the soprano 1 .
Mark Lowry is sitting during this performance because he has multiple sclerosis. He sings this song differently as he emphasizes different words than other singers do. He looks very pleased with the choir behind him--appropriately so!
Mark is a Singer, Song Writer, and Christian Comedian who lives in Houston, TX. He wrote this song himself. Voctive is from Orlando, FL. Many of them have sang/sing as part of a singing group at Epcot called "Voices of America" at the American Pavilion.
Mark Lowry wrote and composed this song. Literally, it's his song, so of course he sings it better than anyone else. And when you add Voctave to it, well, it goes from phenomenal to interstellar in about 2.3 seconds.
Mark Lowry has been singing since he was a little boy. He has always been phenomenal. He sang with the Gaither Vocal Band for approximately 20 years and sang with the likes of Bill Gaither, Guy Penrod, David Phelps. If you want to hear phenomenal, listen to David Phelps version of "O Holy Night " it will blow you away. Bill Gaither has the best of the best, always. Check out the Gaither Vocal Band.
Hello Ricky, Don't overthink the pronunciation of Voctave. Think Voice plus Octave and you get Voctave! Usually the "a" is pronounced as a short "i" sound. Mark Lowry said he got the inspiration for this song because he wondered what he would ask Mary if they were sitting at his kitchen table drinking coffee. Have a great Christmas and listen to Voctave Christmas songs even if you cannot do a reaction on them. O Holy Night, O Come All Ye Faithful and Where Are You Christmas (new release) will get you started!
Absolutely beautiful reaction! Mark is a powerful singer, when he sings his song, it is as if he is having a conversation with Jesus' mother and Voctave backing him with their amazing vocals made this a phenomenal version.
Mark Lowry write the Lyrics. Buddy Green wrote the music. Beautiful collaboration! Mark is also a comedian. Bill Gaither had him join the Gaither Vocal Band. Bill and Mark do a lot of hilarious things. Check them out.
Mark Lowry co wrote the song so he knows what it should sound like. He also sings it with reverence for him it is not a song but also what he believes for he is Christian. The reason he is sat down all way through the song is because he had started to show the effects of Parkinsons or MS, can't remember which one. He also has a false leg and at the recording of the song was deaf in one ear. Being sat down makes the holding of the notes is more effective for when sat down the diaphram can constrict the lung capacity. For me this is the gold standard of this song.
looks like many of the posters have filled you in about Mark. If you've ever gone to one of his concerts, you'd never guess that Mark wrote this song. He is a comedian in addition to being a singer. He often discusses his hyperactivity as a child and his mother always believing that he'd be used by God one day. Well, his mother was correct -- God most definitely used Mark through this song. No other version compares to this arrangement.

The passion and emotion a song writer brings when singing their own song totally changes the impact of the song.
Mark Lowery is the original artist. Co-written with buddy green

That was beautiful, like two sides of the same coin, this version and PTX version. Both beautiful. ❤️🔥
I agree. However, they had a choir. PTX did not.

Ok buddy. Copyright issues if I do that.
@@Reckyj Hey Buddy..you aren't going to get copyright issues with a Voctave video. This thing is everywhere. Buddy.
@@Quirkydude Buddy, So im guessing you know the copyright laws in Sweden. And yes, they differ. ;) Buddy
If you loved that of VOctave and PTX then you’ll love this one
