I just watched this video and breezed through the comments. Since most of the comments are from when this video came out, I wanted to add some comments with the benefit of hindsight and also having owned two competing vehicles, as well as refreshed 2013 Civic. Before I bought the 2013 Civic in 2016, I had a 2012 Elantra and a 2013 Focus after that. While the Elantra was stylish, it didn't drive as good as a Civic or the Focus for that matter. It also had to have its steering rack replaced at one point. As for the Focus, it was great driving car! It handled great and had a strong motor. Unfortunately, it was just unreliable, with my car having issues with the dual-clutch transmission and also having a leak at one of the brake master cylinder lines. The Civic has been a competent car with great reliability. In the end, the numbers don't lie. For calendar years 2012 through 2019, Honda had consistently sold over 300k units per year. Even though Honda's strategy with the 2012 Civic backfired with the automotive press, it still managed to sell well. Thankfully Honda refreshed it for 2013 as that model was MUCH better looking than the 2012.
Between the civic, Mazda3 and Ford Focus, Civic delivers the coolest techno goodies for the cheapest price. I love the two tiered gauges and i-mid screen paired with the navigation. Honda has the best navigation of the 3 and most luxurious and hi-tech interior. For has a great nav but charges way more than Honda for all the goodies. Mazda has a tiny screen on its nav and no voice control but give you the highest tourque and hp for the bucks. Just ask yourself if you want high tech vs power for $
Consumer reports does not recommend civic any more because they are intimidated by those who keep on telling them that they favor Japanese cars over others.
Being a Civic driver myself...I really think Honda really lost touch with this generation. The interior is so/so and bland, and the exterior...well...just as bland. Reliable? Of course! It's a Honda..but they definitely could've done better to really knock out the competition. The 8th gen was a real gem!
@tomtom5418 there is no such thing as a current generation Elantra Touring. Yes, it's marketed and labeled as a 2012 but it's a older generation.1 generation older than the current 2012 Elantra.
Really 10X? Lol. The last Gen looked liked a Prius with a lower rear base. This one looks more like a complete sculpted sedan. Granted would have liked better tail lights but I see what honda was going for; tail lights similar to the Civic coupes and Mercedes Benz C- Class.
Tom another great review. Too bad I can't say the same for the Civic. Honda really lost their design direction. Dash is ugly and hard. Rear end is so boring, I could think it was a corolla. Front and rear panel are like the Clarity but I don't like it. Honda lost me with their ugly design. Tried to look at Acuras but the ugly front end design is a deal breaker. Wish they would bring back the Legend name with a v8 and intergra like small hatch. Those were the days they got me loyal to the brand
i test drove this car yesterday and i tell you what it drives really smooth it's much smoother than my 03 accord!! im getting it in a few months

Freeze it at 3:50 and take a look at it.
It will close with the hinges. Tissue paper has a lot of give.
Honda Civic, Guadalajara, 23 December 2021: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue
Hyundai Accent, Monterrey, 23 September 2023, Down To Earth: Blue Only
that was my first impression too
excuse me, but I have the same car and tried it for myself and it wouldnt close because of the hynges. and i dont mean to be rude.
@LeadHammer elantra touring?
I suggest you go to Costco and try it for yourself before you make that statement. And use TP, not paper towels.

@tomtom5418 There is no such thing as a Hyundai Elantra Touring, at least not for the new generation here in the US. All we get now is the sedan.
Można mieć różne auta ale po co się męczyć jak można mieć Hondę?...

Subscribed :-) Love the honest reviews and twin/toilet paper skits. As for the civic, very dissapointing from Honda.
