we dont even have to argue that this car will last longer than the hyundai rust less than the mazda 3. drives better than the corolla and has a more solid interior
Brian Cooley should teach everyone else on how to give us viewers a great review. Keep em coming guys Great Job as always , Informative, insightful and still Objective enough to look out for the consumer. Big thumbs Up!
"The 9th generation is a better car. Looks better, rides better, better mpg, better materials, better ergonomics" Really? Is that why Honda is rushing to "refresh" the "all-new" 2012 Civic for 2013? I'm glad I bought the last-gen 2011 before this disappointment came out.
@TheBoogie24seven Dont worry. It really dosent matter what car this guy reviews. He always sounds pissed off and bitches way more than he should at the smallest things and usually misses the overall picture. Not all cars are race cars. Some are economical, some are luxury, some are big fucking SUV's as well. Not all vehicles work for all people. That's why they have different catagorys to begin with. Maybe we should do a review on why he grew a handle bar mustache to cover his balding head!
He stresses "it's a transportation device" then shoots holes in different aspects of the car. It really don't matter, these cars speak for themselves both in quality and also in resale.
@SinceYouBeenG0ne well its not a poor peoples car, i meant to say is its a cheap car.Now I dont want to get specific on wats a real car and wats not its just a type of slang.but im pretty sure what I meant by that.
The only thing about the new Civic (and possible the new CR-V and Accord Concept) that I don't like is that they got rid of the old beeping chime you hear when you insert the key.
I have a 2012 Honda Civic and I absolutely love it. Quiet and composed ride vs the last gen Civic which my dad has. Comparing them side by side the 12 Civic is an all around better car. Test drive one before judging it. The exterior really isnt that bad in person it looks really nice.
Such an ugly car I hate mine so much it’s gutless it’s interior is ancient. The mpg is a joke man I get 18 mpg not the 28 that it says and it sucks cause I’m broke so I can’t afford to always refuel. It’s not worth it if your gonna get anything in this year get the si
+palmeroinmiami On a car like the Civic with an automatic transmission, you literally have no use for a tachometer. You can't shift, so what's the point?
+WuWei Xu A CVT can be manually shifted or have predetermined shift points such as what subaru does with their WRX. The point is, no rpm gauge makes a car look cheap. It's a way automakers cut corners yet don't pass the savings to the consumer. If you are ok with that than good for you. I personally would not accept it but to each their own.
palmeroinmiami The 2012 Civic that Cooley was reviewing had a 5 speed automatic, which can't be shifted. Even so, the 2014 Civic with a CVT still can't be shifted, so again, it's redundant to have a tachometer.
+WuWei Xu Well you have your opinion and I have mine. Again, if your fine driving with out a tachometer, then more power to you. For me, it makes the car look like a cheap rental.
if you want reliabilty and re-sale value choose the civic but if you want style and good interiors choose the chevy cruze (btw cruze is made by daewoo of korea under the name of chevy, so good luck with that!)
This guy is a joke. It's not a race car nor a luxury car. It's built for normal people like most of us who is looking for a car that is "RELIABLE" and last for a long time without much problems or breakdowns (money). Honda is built for though and I've own many Hondas my whole life. I still have my 2000 civic ex which has been over 15 years and still going. No check engine light or anything wrong. I've never changed the engine or transmission. The car is still running strong and with no issues. I can tell you my Lexus was having a lot of problems when I expected more from such a high end vehicle. You get more then what you pay for when you get a Honda. Great price, great mpg, great room, reliable, and comfortable, what more can you ask for. End of story. It's like a girlfriend and or wife. You want trust, reliability, and not too much baggage and problems. Get a Honda.
For it to hit 700 hp i have a 13 civic i love it but thats why you got to buy 2 car 1 for everyday and the other for fun and games i bought a hellcat few months ago i love it but i would never use it as my everyday car i would be broke if i did
David Yang Everyone, including Cooley, knows the purpose of a Honda Civic. The problem with the 2012 model year car is that it looks cheap from the outside and inside. I'll ask you this one simple question, if the 2012 Civic was so great, why did Honda feel the need to rework it so heavily for the 2013 model? Because it was not good enough for the market.
Honda's are pretty boring. I understand you treat driving as a chore or something of a utility but other people like to have fun while driving. Coming from someone who has owned over 3 civics, I find them to be reliable sure, but rather boring to drive. With the exception of the nsx, Honda makes some pretty boring cars..
Let's let the sales number decide. Every time a new model comes out, people btch about how ugly it is, but then it slowly takes over the older model and no, ku42, you can say how much you love your Accord 2000, it looks like ass now
me jealous? did i wrote something that i want to work at honda? were talking about the car sir not work, and btw sir youre probably very very rich coz you can make money in one year what i can make in 5 yrs! wow! you must be a millionaire!
Watch my video on "2012 Honda Civic "Not Recommended" by Consumer Reports". But I get negative comments on my video, when everyone else talks negative about this Civic.
maybe you should re read what I wrote..and why are you jealous that I was able to get into a company that you could never work at..and made more mney then you will ever make it 5 yrs that I made in 1 yr.
actually your wrong. The materials were clearly criticized for being much poorer and cheaper than past. The exterior looks less modern and seems to be a step back, but thats debatable. Additionally, the 5 speed auto is a bit outdated now and to be honest should be a 6 speed by now. Additionally the car feels boring and nearing corollaesc boredom which was not the case in past years. For a market leader, the 9th gen is really not that much of an improvement. I'd take a mazda or a ford.
*Yawn* boring car....honda and toyota needs to spice up their exterior design...just look at ford, kia, huyndai..they are all transitioning to the euro appearance to all their vehicle, while honda and toyota are still stuck in 1990s
the re-due is just a propaganda from other competitors just to scare away buyers from the civic, all cars have upgrades every year minor or major, you should know that co as you have said you worked ( or fired) from honda
the problem with car journalist like this guy is that they probably make good money so dont buy economy cars to start off with and drive so many luxury cars that they can no longer appreciate a cheaper car because they are so used to cars that most people cant afford
i agree with the guy on the video if you want to good mpg get this civic..and don't expect any performance from it if you want gre8 performance buy an Si.....i have an 07 Ex and i cant wait till d day i trade it for an Si don't get me wring is still a good car is just doesn't have the extra hp i want
That solid piece of black plastic forward of the side mirrors is an eyesore--and the wheels are a downgrade as well, and unless you get leather, the EX interior materials are a real downgrade.
I think I know why I hate this car just from watching this... It's NOT a race car like he said, but people treat them as race cars as if they're the fastest road car on the planet.
I love this guys reviews .. he says it like it is the truth and nothing but the trut.. But I hate the new civic.. overpriced and a significant step back from the previous one in terms of design.. perhaps the only main thing I like about the new civic is he gauges and the two tier thing..
@SinceYouBeenG0ne its not to show off or 'need the speed' its my interest of cars and their engines, its also quality and really a amazing thing to drive its a experience its hard to express the feeling , you should try it.yeah of-course i do wana show it off who doesn't? what's the first thing you look when u buy a car? the design and looks (even when it has really good mpg).other reason I want a review from an r8 because of the tech thats in the beast.
Pause it at 4:32 and see how much better the 2011 looks. Why did they have to mess with the design so much? They regressed. In that still shot - the 2012 looks like something from the 1990's.
@INSaNEJWALk The new Sonata is MUCH better looking than the new Civic! And Hyundai has come a long way, while Honda has been slipping much like Toyota.
@pazzmatt o.O wtf? the 2012 looks like something from the 1990? Amm i don't think so. and EF EG and EK look like something from the 90's ohhh and they change it so much to improve aerodynamics
@KissesLoveKawaii yeah cuz im fake...LOL im pretty sure brain did a review on the SLS AMG before and BMW 7 series cars that you'll never afford this show is about EVERY car WITH TECH
@JustKillHem Yeah the "EPA" Mpg estimates are all bullshit. Do you remember that "40 MPG" Ford Fiesta? I'm pretty sure a typical person driving that averages 33-35 mpg. The MPG really depends on your driving habits.
Well that camaro is heavy and the MPG isnt great and has nothing standard lol, 22k is a rip off for any civic tho, its not about the hp with the civic, its just the fact its ugly and so is the interior
@jbrige I DID NOTICE THAT!!! I was just watching the latest honda commercial where they were showing all the Honda lineups of 2011 and I thought to myself..."Ugly....,Ugly....Uglier, DAMN what the hell is that."
The Civic introduced in 2006 (I drive a 2007 EX) was pure genius by honda but they played it way to safe with the 2012 model. Even the new 2012 Civic SI is a joke to what Honda used to produce. It seems they are going more for the hybrid looks/better fuel economy. I mean overall it is one of the best cars to get around but for driving pleasure it lacks that Honda feeling :(
@dangerrulz I use to work at the Honda plant makig these and I can tell you..you are right its not a very good loooking car they say they are going to re-due the front but it wont change anything..thank god I left that company.
they are both great cars just consider what you really want in a car, choose the civic if you want reliability and resale value. choose the focus if you want nice exterior and interior designs
honda really stepped their game up with the new 2016 model compared to this lol
I sadly bought the 2014 thinking I could drop 10k inbolt ons and have a race car.
we dont even have to argue that this car will last longer than the hyundai rust less than the mazda 3. drives better than the corolla and has a more solid interior
Brian Cooley should teach everyone else on how to give us viewers a great review. Keep em coming guys Great Job as always , Informative, insightful and still Objective enough to look out for the consumer. Big thumbs Up!
I'm having trouble deciding between the focus and this one!
Civics are more reliable
What did you decide?
Haàa that focus will be nothing but problems
Two years with the 2012 Civic. Still a great car for getting around the city.
2010 civic looks a lot better
Had the car for 12 years which bought new and never had to do any work on it. Only had to change brakes, tires, oil changes, etc.
watching this in 2021 Cooley classics. Ugly is included at no extra charge
"The 9th generation is a better car. Looks better, rides better, better mpg, better materials, better ergonomics"
Really? Is that why Honda is rushing to "refresh" the "all-new" 2012 Civic for 2013? I'm glad I bought the last-gen 2011 before this disappointment came out.

Cooley needs to do all reviews. Other guys just can't hold up
He stresses "it's a transportation device" then shoots holes in different aspects of the car. It really don't matter, these cars speak for themselves both in quality and also in resale.

Does driving like a pig mean You're going fast? O_o
These reviews are pretty bad, most of the information in them is about the electronics or how many diffrent ways there is to play music
I have a 2012 Honda Civic and I absolutely love it. Quiet and composed ride vs the last gen Civic which my dad has. Comparing them side by side the 12 Civic is an all around better car. Test drive one before judging it. The exterior really isnt that bad in person it looks really nice.
the 2016 came a long way
@TheBoogie24seven sorry, but not everyone will like a car the exact same as everyone else. We are all entitled to our own opinions.
It's 2011 now like if 2016
@KissesLoveKawaii Actually, Consumer Reports removed the Civic from its reccomended cars list cause the Civic did very poorly during testing.
Great great car. And good review
This is a babe! What a sexy car! I love civics
How could you not care about a tachometer? It's an important function in a car. Without a tachometer, the car would look like a cheapo car
+palmeroinmiami On a car like the Civic with an automatic transmission, you literally have no use for a tachometer. You can't shift, so what's the point?

palmeroinmiami Of course.
This review is really horrible. I have driven the 2012 Civic and i absolutely love it!
Love the civic
what the fuck is this! don't have the peddle shift =='' omg.... 1.8 only! shit
if you want reliabilty and re-sale value choose the civic but if you want style and good interiors choose the chevy cruze (btw cruze is made by daewoo of korea under the name of chevy, so good luck with that!)
Daewoo are garbage

Civics have always sucked and now they suck even more now

I feel sorry for you americans. You always get the uglier versions of cars. The 2012 European Civic looks 100 times better than the American one.
I love this guys reviews .. he says it like it is the truth and nothing but the trut.. But I hate the new civic.. overpriced and a significant step back from the previous one in terms of design.. perhaps the only main thing I like about the new civic is he gauges and the two tier thing..

2012 civic are sooooo ugly
Watz up with civic designers?? The rear exterior is fucked up....
My 2003 civic looks better than this
Wow this is an ugly ass car what did you do Honda 8th gen all the way, was expecting much more from Honda
@JustKillHem Yeah the "EPA" Mpg estimates are all bullshit. Do you remember that "40 MPG" Ford Fiesta? I'm pretty sure a typical person driving that averages 33-35 mpg. The MPG really depends on your driving habits.

i can't afford a 2013 fusion, i dint ill get a civic
Don't get the 12 get the 13 or 14
@JustKillHem test drives drive faster and harder than normal and a new car needs to be broke in
I HATE ads!!!!!
most people get 43 mpg hwy in this civic, while most elantra owners get 36 mpg hwy
omg it's ugly
they are both great cars just consider what you really want in a car, choose the civic if you want reliability and resale value. choose the focus if you want nice exterior and interior designs
the back looks like an old mercedes lol
Eeeewww :X the American civics are so much.....different to the European :O
Since when do most cars have 4 speeds, most have either 6 of a CVT. This is America where do you live.
@TheGarvito because lets be honest thats the car you're be buying right?!
LOL civic. show some REAL cars do Audi r8 or something PLEASE!
we got honda city, insight, and 2012 civic, guess what!! they looks exactly the same
No wonder they totally changed the car for 2013 that this is just ugly
The thing is, even the SI is a let down compared to its competitors.
That screen on the eyebrow dash is just asking for a crash.
@porschemagicbus get ad block! what internet browser do you use??
i like the older civic si more than the new Si... ALLOT MORE
What the fuck. Honda Civics used to look beautiful.
The Angry Car Review Nerd.
@jbrige same with the new mercedes rear ends, ugly
The rear kinda looks like a smaller Camry from a distance.
This is why I'm getting the 2012 Hyundai Azera 5G.
i doesn't look so bad in real life.
Wow you must dislike the interior alot..
this isnt the 2012 honda civic... -.-...
Omg Brian I miss him!
This dude tries to be a Walter White clone.
nooo honda is becoming toyota!
@MasterTenblades LMFAO then what is it?
EVEN THE TACHOMETER? REALLY BRIAN?
better mpg than elantra!
Looks like an older camry
hahaha ancient dashboard
what color when you hit v-tec?
@CSA55VA he said 22700
that sir is not true at all
Still a good car !!!
lol have you seen the 2013? XD oops
@brendan171 yeah sure...
btw noo fog lights???
My eyes on a blue Honda Civic LX, 5 spd manual... what do you think?
Yes
