    Cary Kolat did this often in his competition days. He usually just kept the russian tie and went with it, instead of coming over the back with the other arm. He was like a gator doing a death roll with a limb. Wrestling him ended with broken bones for some. Probably one of the scariest opponents a wrestler could ever face.

    • @OctoBox
      @OctoBox ปีที่แล้ว +4

      None of us have the back muscle of a Cary Kolat, hahahaha. I hated that throw -- way more into a gator-roll -- too lanky for this throw (here) or Kolat's modified Salto.

    Love Greco.
    I started out with a fairly decent Japanese jujitsu system that actually sparred full contact. We learnt the Judo Gokyu, which is the basic 40 throws, then after black belt you started to combine standing locks with these Judo throws. I ended up leaving jujitsu because they don’t like you training at other clubs, which is a Japanese cultural thing. I then went to MMA, first learning catch wrestling and Muay Thai. Later I trained BJJ. All great stuff. I found that I was understanding Japanese jujitsu better by training these specialised systems. Looking at Greco, though never having had the opportunity to properly train this style yet (I live in Australia where it is virtually non existent) I can see how the wrist and arm control entering into throwing techniques translates over to jujitsu throws. I feel like I am rediscovering my roots, something they say happens with age! I reckon the samurai as well as western knights martial skills would have been impressive…considering that all they did was train combat skills.
    Judo and Greco share some similarities in that they both emphasise throwing from upper body control positions. Obviously Judo uses a jacket and Greco does not. Judo it seems was designed by its founder Kano so that practice could be done with minimal injury,removing striking and dangerous throws.

    • @PrimeWrestlingSystem
      @PrimeWrestlingSystem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depend on what technique you're trying do! If you're a righty and want to hit a single leg you should do it on that side. If you're looking to throw then the other side (depending on the throw).

    • @PrimeWrestlingSystem
