Is the A/C in this generation as powerful as the A/C on a Japanese or American car? I saw an E350 wagon for sale and now I want one, but I don’t another Mercedes with appalling A/C. I want something that really blows cold as ice and doesn’t require topping off every other year. The A/C in my W123 has always been a disappointment and keep it working has been an attrition war with no end in sight.
The AC in this car is excellent and not something to be concerned with. Your w123 AC system was not restored correctly and that is why you had problems. When the w123 AC is done correctly it works fine.

It’s been to 4 shops, it has had 3 different compressors, expansion valves, driers, pressure/aux fan switches, it has been flushed (along with my wallet) several times, sealed and resealed again and it just doesn’t blow cold. It always acts like is undercharged - pressures are always kinda low and the compressor almost never cycles (unless is a fresh day and the fan speed is set on low). No shop has been able to put it right and others don’t even want to look into it because they don’t work on old cars. The rest of the climate control system works, though (All flaps work, there is enough air coming out of the vents, good heat, heater valve closes when A/C is on) I guess I will have to study how A/C systems work, buy tools and fix it myself.
Seeing these engines swapped into a 126 or 123 would be interesting
That would be a very difficult project but would definitely be cool

2006? Why is it so young?
That's the last year for the inline 6 diesel Mercedes engine. In 2007 the EPA officially killed the diesel.
What was the purchase price from the dealer? Or what will you be asking for this ?

2005-2006 CDI are outstanding, but I prefer the 1999 W210 300E Turbo Diesel
