Later it was a little bit finalized and sales of album exceeded first run several times. But first 500 copies are now a collector's rarity. Songs Ghost Love Score and Romsnticide are songs of original vocalist Tarja, with her in line-up they were recorded and included in fifth studio album “Once”. And Storytime was recorded with second vocalist Anette.
Tarja’s live version of this song on “From Wishes to Eternity” is fantastic. The live versions are usually better than the album versions. Especially, Tarja’s live versions.

Nightwish formed in 1996 the album was released in 1997. The band members aged 21 to 19 years old. Tarja would go on to earn her masters in music over the next 5 years. She went through two changes of style just between the 1st 3 albums. Angels Fall First, Oceanborn 98, Wishmaster 2000, Century Child 2003 and Once 2005. Being from rural Kitee or actually outside the village in SE Finland the slavic accent is rich. I love it. on the short sp album of four tracks in 1999 it includes Sleeping Sun. Tarja was not happy since she thought it sounded like it was recorded in a phone booth They shot a 2nd video with green screen. They had the help of London UZk Metro Choir and Symohony Orchestra Dropped some £75,000 per video to make it the epic sounding experience it became. This was 28 years ago when it was made. Tarja's vocal talent has only continued to grow since then. And it not opera (she tried that in 2012 to 2014 on a live solo album Beauty and the Beat. Her training is German Lied music for the stage (leed) to sing with a choir and orchestea long before amplificatiin existed. Tarja has some 20 albums to her name. Global super star. 1996 co founder with Tuomas key board snd Empu lead guitar. those two are still in the band. She was fired in October 2005 and the spit was done by them in such a manner they almost started civil war in Finlsnd. Luckiky the fsns Embraced a solo Tarja and the rest is history.
I love this idea, Nightwish is my favorite band , Not really a fan of Tarja but still will watch. I really started to listen more when Anette Olzen has hired. Floor was the best addition to the band because she can sing all the genre`s of music. There is a book I got from Amazon ``Nightwish every song, every album`` by Simon McMurdo that I think you will like.
You need to understand the context of this first album. It was only meant to be a demo the band sent to a studio. It was not meant to be released but the studio released it anyway.
I take off my hat about the huge things you are going to do! There is a catalog of at least 150 songs to work on. But it is also a very nice thing to do and you will discover such a mass of treasuries I can promise. If I could make a suggestion: To overview the evolution of the band it might be very helpful to use the days when you are going to do double reactions by doing the original first and afterwards a more recent of the same. Or a studio version and afterwards a live one of the same? I would be proud to help out with suggestions if you want, as not all live versions are on the same level of quality, so it sometimes depends on the choice you make. As a Nightwish fan from the beginning I do not like comparison between singers or musicians as my opinion is: Each person has a time in the evolution of a band and has to get the recognition for all they did. To just say this one or that one is/was better is false fanhood to me. That is different to say I prefer this or another voice or stage presence or so. Das interessante bei Nightwish sind die drei verschiedenen Sänger. Die Lieder hören sich völlig unterschiedlich an. The Warning ist interessant, weil sie sehr jung anfangen und man sieht wie aus Kindern Erwachsene werden. Die dramatischteste Veränderung passiert auf der persönlichen Ebene. Beides sind interessante Reisen. Innerhalb von Finnland gibt es ein paar wenige, die noch erfolgreicher sind, international ist es Nightwish. Es gibt auch gute Live Versionen vom Lied mit Tarja und Floor. Anette hat es nie gesungen und Floor nur auf der Decades Tour. Anettes Live Versionen sind in der Regel ein Desaster und werden auch nur wenig gehört. I was aware of Nightwish here in the UK when the band covered Gary Moore' (ex Thin Lizzy) 'Over The Hills and Far Away' in 2000, but couldn't get to grips with Tarja's heavily-accented English accent. I ignored the band until Within Temptation had a UK hit in the late Noughties and I delved into Symphonic Rock. I discovered Delain, Epica, Ayreon and of course Nightwish again. Floor and Troy had joined the band officially in 2013, and I much preferred listening to the post-Tarja era iteration of the band. Not sure I want to sit through the five albums prior to Dark Passion Play, but I'll see how it goes. Cheers
