    5:00 Genius move putting the filter baskets in that back compartment! Was wondering what that was for.

    Hi, how often do you do the clear water backflush?

  • @tydlth

    Any specific reason you are using unfiltered water for descaling ?

  • @DopeFreshFitness
    @DopeFreshFitness 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is it important to add powder to UNFILTERED water? And aren't you diluting the solution if you add more water to reach the "descale" line on the the water tank after you have already used the appropriate water/powder ratio? I measured the amount of water to reach that line, it's exactly 1000ml or 1 liter. The ratio calls for 100g of powder per 2 liters. So it's 50 g of powder to fill to the descale line.

    Did the handle you have on the steam or hot water switch come with the machine or did you find it somewhere?

      No the Breville Barista Pro comes with a knob. This is the steel handle I got: bit.ly/36IrqqF

    This ruined the backplate of my breville. Where ever the water splashed removed the shine. Now it looks like water drops that for some reason won't go back to how it was.

    Mine was coming out of the porta filter 😫

      Yes apparently newer machines have a hole in the disc now. Not sure if this is intentional on Breville's part or not, but it's common

    Is it normal that my rubber disk has a punch hole right in the center, and the water exits like crazy while flushing.

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's normal on newer machines actually. I've heard this a few times

      I just found about this as well... apparently the older models came with the disk having a small hole and the new ones without (I guess my Barista Pro must have been on the shelf a while... ). I did my first flush today and was surprised that water came out the portafilter and thought I did something wrong... after some research I found that both work but I just ordered the newer disk without the hole since it's supposed to be a but more thorough. But both work

      Hi, in my machine purchased in November 22’ there’s a little hole in the gasket too…I hope this won’t be an issue with proper back flushing. I read some comments where ppl after contacting Brevile/Sage were given gasket without the hole and some weren’t offered the gasket at all🤷‍♂️ it’s a bit of confusion I’ll contact Sage myself I think. I just found article about this and it states:
      “Water will come out of the portafilter during the flush cleaning cycle in older Breville machines. This is because they came with a cleaning disc that has a tiny hole in the middle, allowing some water to pass through the portafilter. The remaining water drains into the drip tray.
      Unfortunately, many people get confused when they see in the manuals and tutorials that no water should be coming out of the portafilter. This makes them think something is wrong with their machine or that they are doing something incorrectly. But in reality, the flush cleaning cycle is working properly.
      Breville changed the design of the disc. The newer espresso machines come with a cleaning disc with no hole in the middle, so no water is coming out of the portafilter. We have contacted Breville Support, which confirmed that both discs can be used in all Breville espresso machines.
      We also found further information that using the disc without the hole is a better cleaning method. This way, all of the water with the detergent will pass through the machine’s inner parts, cleaning them more thoroughly”

      I only descale when the alert/indicator comes on!! Don't run a descale or flush cycle more than necessary 🙂👍🏼

      I have seen it recommended to do a backflush without any detergent if your unit is going to sit for a little bit or has set for a little bit. Just put your backflush disc in and trigger a backflush. There's a lot of oil and coffee grime that builds up inside your machine

  • @mova_2020

    Flush is not the same as back flushing. You should’ve do the full flush (similar to descaling) with pure water and the. If necessary you could do a back flush. Hope it helps

      @HijabsandAprons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm confused! Please tell me more about the difference between a flush and backflush! The Breville machines' built-in "flush cycle" is actually a backflush. What's the full flush you're referring to? Would I run a descale cycle but with clean water instead of the descaling solution?
