Hi i see in this video you used the Temple Dharma blend! I also have a Breville Barista Pro and i’m using these beans. Could you please share your settings with me for these beans? Dose, Time, Grind (inner & outer burr) and the grams out? Thanks so much! Your channel has helped me so much!
Amazing, just got my Sage Barista Pro and all of your videos have been brilliant. I love how you combine steps like wetting the towel with steps that would generate water anyway, very efficient.
Have you found it successful yet? I had one and decided on a different color (lol), now I’m rethinking the machine due to the grinder opinions on it. Should I rebuy it in the color I want, or get a bambino and a better grinder? Is the grinder good enough I’ll enjoy it in a year or two? I know she mentions adjusting the inner bur setting.

Hi! I’m wondering, you talk normally for a ratio of 1:2, you have a 19g coffee for 30g extraction, is there a reason you did not set it to 38g? Thank you!!!
Yes! The beans I was using were recommended as a shorter shot, so that's why I was using a slightly smaller output. Don't be afraid to experiment once you're dialed in to 1:2 and want to adjust the shot for taste
Like your Videos. I got my Barista Pro, in my Region its called Sage, a few Weeks ago and really happy with it. I like the Steam Knob you have there, would U make a Video how to install this?
New subbie here I know I’m late lol but I just got the Barista Pro just from watching ur vids in dialing in. I returned my Solis grind and infuse it was nice but I like the controls of the Breville better plus there are more group/blogs with it.
I'm new to coffee machines and just bought the Barista Pro (and I just subscribed to your channel - great videos btw). I'm still trying to dial in and was curious what you have your inner grind setting set to? I say videos that say to set it to 2 but other videos say you should set it to 5.
Hi, i really like your Videos. When i trying to make a cappuccino the coffee is always to cold for my taste. I have to drink it right away. I tried a bottomless portafilter and the regular one. I also once replaced the whole machine, same outcome. Does you(anybody) have a clue?
Hi there! New sub here and also new to the hobby. Got the same machine a few weeks back, and been in the process of perfecting my shots. I’ve pulled pretty good ones, but I think there’s still much room for improvement. One thing I haven’t tried tweaking is the pre-infusion time. Would you say that 7 seconds is a generally good sweet spot?
7 seconds is great in my opinion! I think I've heard to pre-infused until you see the first drop and then switch to full brewing pressure. So you can try a manual shot and then program it accordingly. Press and hold a shot button, as soon as you see a drop coming out, let go and let it run until you've achieved your desired shot volume 😊 thanks for watching and supporting my channel!!
Generally it should be 1:2, so 26g output. But the roaster of this bean recommended closer to 1:1.5 ratio for that particular bean and I found it was tastier that way for that bean. Every bean is different!
Great video! I've heard that tapping the portafilter to settle the grounds can have the effect of making the smaller particles migrate to the bottom -- any thoughts / concerns about that?
Mostly yeah. I mean I hold it down for pre-infusion and then let go. Press to stop. Idk why I don't bother programming the shot per bag of beans although it would be convenient 😊
@@christopherwheeler7147 Yes I definitely do manual shots when dialing in a new bag because it gives me better control and an understanding of how the new beans are.
@@HijabsandAprons from videos I have been watching I have been doing 18 g dosing with 36 grams out with time of extraction around 30-35seccons, is this reasonable? Also do you dose more in beginning since Breville Pro has some bean retention?

Thank you so much! 🙏I haven't noticed a difference in taste either (maybe because I distribute decently by just shaking the heck out of my dosing cup?) but I feel like sometimes it makes a difference in the splatter from my bottomless portafilter. Thanks! I don't remember but I'm usually around 7 or 6 with my inner burr set to 3. But every machine's grinder will be different. If your machine is newer, you probably don't need to shift the burr down to 3. You should be okay at 5 or 4 burr setting
Hi how long do you aerate for? I don’t really seem to get the right answer for this. Some people are saying it’s only 3-5 seconds but I feel there’s no foam for cappuccino if done that short
This is great! I have the same machine and need to experiment more. I also have some of the same accessories you have as well. Sometimes, a lot, with the bottomless filter it squirts ALL over the place and makes a huge mess. All over the cup and the machine haha, so I need to do some testing but this helps! Excellent vid!
@@HijabsandAprons thanks! Yup I have the dosing funnel, I haven’t tried the WDT tool yet though. I also haven’t experimented with changing the burr grind adjustment (only the knob on the machine) so will try a 3 or 4 and play with that a little too.
Big fan of your videos and I always learn a lot. How do you determine the depth of the palm tamper? Do you use a precision filter basket or the stock basket? Thank you for the great content.
Thank you so much!! I want the tamper deep enough to feel resistance when I press. If it goes down too easily, it might not be protruding enough. And I use the basket that came with my bottomless portafilter (bit.ly/3xN8Pog)! Not an IMS basket
Thanks for another amazing video! I have the same machine and cannot grind below size 15. The internal burr is set to 4 and the side dial for the grind size is usually set between 15-20 depending on the beans. I've tried many brands but the beans do not grind below 15 and I saw that you usually grind around size 7-8 for the sweet spot. Is it common for these machines to have different calibration settings?
Thank you for watching!! Yes every grinder is different, and how long/much the grinder has been in use also matters. If you've been using it for a long time, the burrs may have worn down and require a smaller grind size. I think...haha But don't get weirded out or feel like you're at the wrong size!! If it is coming out nicely and tasting yummy, you're good! 😊
@@HijabsandAprons i thought so! I'm new to this, and JUST realized after wasting a whole bag of beans dialing in, that I should've been using a single wall.. @@n.k.4481 for that particular bean, i enjoyed a smaller ratio output. but a good *starting point* is a 1 to 2 ratio (so 18g dose, 36g output) and then you can tweak from there if necessary based on taste
@@HijabsandAprons Thank you for your responses, it really helps when creators actually reply! So this morning I changed the inner burr to 4, and the outer grind setting was maybe 8? I wish I paid closer attention. Anyway, with 18g and a single wall, I think it was close to how it should taste, but I think I needed to extract longer, I got under 30out. Do you count the timer from the moment you press the double shot button or from the moment the espresso starts coming out? Dialing in has been so challenging lately grr.
You are correct! That's a general standard; but for this particular bean, the roaster themselves recommends a 1:1.5 ratio for this bean 😊 I try to always check if a roaster has recommended parameters for a bean so that I can use that as a guideline. Ultimately, however, the best way to brew is the way you like it best!! So always go base off your taste too. Thank you for watching!!
I love this and all of your videos! You are just like a professional Barestia! How do you like the Barestia Pro so far? Is it worth it to go up to the Barestia Touch or does the Pro do a good job that there is no need to spend the extra money on the Touch? I’m torn between these two on which one to get. Your videos make it look like I would be able to this with some practice, or course. Although not as good as you! Thank you for all of the videos you make for us.❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate your support. I was recently told by my Patreon member that the Barista Touch was difficult to work with and she exchanged her machine for a Barista Pro. You can DEFINITELY make do with the Barista Pro and if you have the time/patience and are willing/excited to learn about making espresso, then it'll be a great fit! If you need something much more convenient and don't care about fine tuning the taste of your espresso (i.e. if you rely on syrups and flavorings), then maybe the Barista Touch would be a good option for you. Hope this helps!
I see we are both similarly obsessed with our breville. I also have the distributor, tamper, love the funnel, bottomless portafilter, and I see you’ve done the steam wand lever add on. Was it tricky to install?

Sorry! It was hard to keep checking the camera while trying to do a "real time" routine. But the extraction was ~30g in 26-27 seconds. Slightly fast but smooth. Increasing the dose just a bit OR decreasing dose and going down one grind size will likely push the brew time closer to the 30 seconds I prefer
I just bought this machine 2 months ago and notice the milk gets way too hot before I am done stretching. I only have about 10-12 seconds to get it done. On my old barista express, I had plenty of time to work the milk and had great results. Any suggestions on how to slow down the process - it seems that the steaming is far more powerful on this machine. Thank you
Yeah! Well, I usually get 2 extra grams out unless it's a fast shot, in which case the pace of the espresso coming out is faster. Thus more will stream out in that 1-2 seconds after stopping the shot. Hope this helps/makes sense!
You're welcome! It's pretty similar. Loveramics is slightly thicker, if that makes sense. But this one is surprisingly durable and great quality. I honestly would've gotten all of mine from this brand if I'd known about it sooner. Mostly because I only needed/wanted one of each color but was forced to buy sets of 2 from Loveramics
Great point, I wish I thought to zoom in my camera right before doing it. It was hard to film an *authentic* real-time routine video whilst showing all the necessary details because while trying to just do my routine, I kept bumping my head on the overhead camera or having to check focus 😅 I'll keep this in mind for future videos, though, and will be sure to show my puck so that we can all learn and improve our shots! Thank you for watching and for the support! 🙏
I wish I have the time to go through this process every morning. I bought the Sage bambino plus to help me make a good espresso in 5 seconds 😅 Thanks anyway sister
I have the Bambino now but used to use a French Press which would take as long as this anyway. 3-5 mins for the initial brew and then another 5 mins to steep, followed by 2 mins to clean. The side effect of this is when you put this much effort in, you really enjoy your coffee more, IMO.
@HijabsandAprons I haven't tried to be honest. Nonetheless, I am still learning because I am new to this world. I used to drink Americano and the like.

Thank you for watching!!
where did you get that copper color spoon you scoop the coffee grounds with? Link?

Haha AWESOME!! No it wasn't too bad! I have a video in which I showed it. Check it out if you want an idea of how to install it (need to take the top of the machine off). th-cam.com/video/dhNB22J3ojE/w-d-xo.html
So helpful! Thank you for the great details of your routine.
The protafilter is blocking the measurement ☹, can't see the extraction weight
Sorry! It was hard to keep checking the camera while trying to do a "real time" routine. But the extraction was ~30g in 26-27 seconds. Slightly fast but smooth. Increasing the dose just a bit OR decreasing dose and going down one grind size will likely push the brew time closer to the 30 seconds I prefer
where is that decanter from?!?! its so pretty!
i actually got it from a thrift shop!! sanitized it and now use it for my homemade vanilla syrup 😊
Thank you
Hm..it could be that you aren't using enough milk. Otherwise check out my video on steaming milk for lattes! th-cam.com/video/691R_H76Bys/w-d-xo.html
@@HijabsandAprons Thank you. I did fill up to the spout but will keep trying.
Great video, thank you!
Thank you for watching!! 😊
Nice video! What is your internal burr setting 😊?
Thank you! It's currently set to 3 😊
I hit the stop button at like 35 grams and end up with 40-42 after all the dripping. Is that common?
Yeah! Well, I usually get 2 extra grams out unless it's a fast shot, in which case the pace of the espresso coming out is faster. Thus more will stream out in that 1-2 seconds after stopping the shot. Hope this helps/makes sense!
I love the color of the mug! Is it from loveramics?
Thank you! Actually this one isn't, it's from a random brand on Amazon: amzn.to/3zriWhS
@@HijabsandAprons Ohh thank you for the link! How does it compare to Loveramics?
You're welcome! It's pretty similar. Loveramics is slightly thicker, if that makes sense. But this one is surprisingly durable and great quality. I honestly would've gotten all of mine from this brand if I'd known about it sooner. Mostly because I only needed/wanted one of each color but was forced to buy sets of 2 from Loveramics
Does this work with Nesquik?
Idk but I want to try this
Nesquick in an espresso machine? Haha good one. My guess is you'd get a smooth hot cocoa with a hint of burnt 🥲
Thanks for the video! Would love to have seen the puck, up close :)
Wow !! You are obviously a perfectionist :)
😂 i won't attain perfection but i enjoy doing tedious things, especially within the realm of art!
Does this give really hot cappuccino?
I wish I have the time to go through this process every morning. I bought the Sage bambino plus to help me make a good espresso in 5 seconds 😅
Thanks anyway sister
I have the Bambino now but used to use a French Press which would take as long as this anyway. 3-5 mins for the initial brew and then another 5 mins to steep, followed by 2 mins to clean.
The side effect of this is when you put this much effort in, you really enjoy your coffee more, IMO.
Do you get good espresso in 5 seconds at a coffeeshop?
@HijabsandAprons I haven't tried to be honest. Nonetheless, I am still learning because I am new to this world. I used to drink Americano and the like.
Very interesting and a new thing to learn
Very helpful video!
Thank you!
What camera setup do you use?
Canon EOS R is my main camera (mounted to a C stand arm here). I usually never have a second camera but for this video, I just had my iPhone on a tripod off to the side.
@@HijabsandAprons got it. Thanks for the reply. Ohh one more thing… what about lighting? Are using diffusers or anything like that?
No problem! Not in this video, but occasionally I use a Godox SL60W with a giant diffuser/scrim 🙂
Temple coffee!? Sweet, you’re from Sac
I'm actually from southern California but love Temple! I'm currently a partner with Coava Coffee from Portland because they are my all-time favorite 🤩 so you'll see their beans in a lot of my content too
This video is so helpful. I currently deciding on which Breville to purchase and i always seem to come back to the Pro from the way you show and explain it!
Thank you for the support!! Ooo you're in the process of deciding now? I highly recommend checking out my recent review of the Barista Pro (if you haven't already)!
@@HijabsandAprons would you still choose the Pro? I’m good spending a bit more for the right machine but wondering if it’s really necessary to spend more?
You dont need to preheat the portafilter (or how its called / second language, sorry). Sage/Breville already put the cold portafilter into consideration in the heat settings.
Very nice. Starbucks and Coffeebean outlets will have one less customer. Lol. Thank you for sharing.
Yayy! Happy to help!
شكرا يا اجمل يوتيوبر ،احب القهوه وخاصه اذا كانت معمولة بمهارة
شكرا لدعمكم
nice
Cool video. Been thinking of the Barista pro or touch for my first ever espresso machine but aiming towards the Pro. What do you think? Any suggestions? Love to hear from you. Also, sub here!
Wow, when do you get the time to enjoy the coffee? I think this is way too meticulous and as long as you are doing the weigh, grind, dose and extraction correctly, you should be all good. Nice videos though. Salaam.
My unit just arrived today can't wait to try it out. Thanks for the tips. Peace be on you as well
Woooh, congratulations! I appreciate your support and hope you enjoy your machine! 🙂 If you need any one-on-one help with your new machine and are able to, join my Patreon! Would love to see your espresso shots and progress!
spray water on beans! might help with retention
Good point!!! I need to try this and see if it allows for less banging on the poor hopper 😂
Too much work for one cup of coffee... neeh...
Ever wonder how the beans even get to us? 😅
@@HijabsandAprons don't even want to think about it... I'm returning the silly machine...
