Here's my broccoli sprouts story: I'm almost 70 and started growing them similarly to EdSilvia1 below in May 2022 after my prostate cancer diagnosis and after watching Rhonda Patrick's videos. My PSA readings ranged from 4.7 to 7.1 in the years prior to the confirmed (biopsy and MRI) diagnosis. I began consuming protein shakes in May almost every day including significant portions of fresh and frozen broccoli sprouts after a morning gym session. My wife and I continued our research on my treatment options over the summer and I had my PSA tested in October just prior to starting a combination of hormone deprivation and eventual radiation therapy. This reading came in prior to starting the cancer therapy - after 6 months of consistently consuming broccoli sprouts, my PSA came in at 4.1. This was the lowest PSA reading I had in probably 4 years! I continue to consume broccoli sprouts today after recently completing radiation treatment.

I have been eating sprouts for 2 meals out of 3 a day for over 2 years . Between changing my diet , i also have averaged 6.2 miles a day for over 1 year , I lost over 100 lbs and fixed my health enough to get off prescriptions for diabetes , high cholesterol , high blood pressure and so much more .
I’ve made growing 4 tablespoons of my own broccoli sprouts a part of my weekly routine. Each morning I make a salad of a handful of broccoli sprouts, a cucumber, raw baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, a boiled egg, strawberries, and blueberries sprinkled with black pepper and Olive Garden salad dressing. Very delicious and satisfying. 10/10
Here's a dressing recipe for sprouts. Also good for blood pressure and diabetes: tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce, tablespoon of white vinegar, roughly tablespoon of tahini (like peanut butter but made from sesame seeds). Mix these three ingredients with a whisk until smooth. Then mix in your sprouts and any other veggies you like. Set in fridge for about an hour to chill, but can be eaten at room temp as well. Super good!
Fresh lime juice, smoked salt, coconut oil dressing Over Sprouts, avocado, canned salmon, red onion, zucchini noodles, carrot shreds, walnuts. My favorite, feel free to put in a wrap, add any lettuces or greens you like, and also berries go great...
YUM!!!! Love that touch of smoked salt. This literally sounds like my dream bowl! If I am really feeling fancy I might swap the warm smoked salmon for canned (do love both). Thanks for this lovely rec 🙏
Not smart foods. except salt and coconut oil and raw carrots. PUFAs are toxic. You're missing meats, OJ, milk and cheese, beef liver and oysters once per week.. oh, and a couple of eggs per day. you're welcome
Here are some considerations for above options::::: 1) Eating raw: Raw broccoli sprouts are a convenient and quick way to consume them. Raw broccoli sprouts contain a high level of myrosinase, an enzyme that helps activate the beneficial compound sulforaphane. Myrosinase is sensitive to heat and can be destroyed by cooking, so consuming raw broccoli sprouts ensures that the myrosinase is still active and can help maximize the production of sulforaphane in the body. 2) Lightly cooked: While cooking can destroy some of the myrosinase in broccoli sprouts, lightly cooking them can still preserve some of their health benefits. For example, lightly steaming or stir-frying broccoli sprouts can soften them and make them easier to digest. Cooking broccoli sprouts also increases the bioavailability of other nutrients, such as vitamin C and beta-carotene. 3) Blended: Blending broccoli sprouts into a smoothie or juice can be a convenient and tasty way to consume them. Blending can help break down the tough fibers in the sprouts, making them easier to digest and absorb. However, blending may also destroy some of the myrosinase, so it's important to consume the blended mixture soon after preparation to maximize its health benefits. In summary, eating raw broccoli sprouts can help maximize the production of sulforaphane, while lightly cooking them can still preserve some of their health benefits. Blending broccoli sprouts can be a convenient and tasty way to consume them, but may destroy some of the myrosinase.
@@TheScienceofSelfCare .. Seems most people go for blending, thinking it is most beneficial. This is largely true but only if consumed quickly, like you do. Also, some people kinda 'over blend' which increase sprouts exposure to oxygen. This too can cause the nutrients to oxidize and lose their potency. I too think, eating raw is The Best.. I've been off medication.. touch wood.
I read that radish is highly complementary to broccoli sprouts. My question is what quantity of broccoli sprouts is a 'maintenance dose'? How much should be taken if one is battling an aggressive cancer? Thanks
Broccoli sprouts are healthy because of their polyphenol content. Therefore, you don't want to mix them with foods high in polyphenol oxidase. All fruits have it but avocado, banana, apples, and pears are particularly high. It is what makes them brown. In a recent study, mixing banana in a berry smoothy greatly reduced polyphenol content in the blood due to low absorption. It binds with or destroys the polyphenols during digestion. In a 2005 study they tested pears, banana, and avocado and they all destroyed polyphenols but avocado was the worst. In this study they were trying to destroy polyphenols to increase iron absorption for vegetarians (polyphenols bind iron during digestion) so they considered avocado the best. Some vegetables are also a problem like collard greens, beats, and I think Swiss chard. It is hard to research polyphenol oxidase content in food. If you're eating high polyphenol foods for their polyphenol content you should isolate them from fruit and some vegetables. This includes sprouts, berries, extra virgin olive oil, cacao, tea, coffee, spices, etc. If you mix sprouts with avocado you can decrease the polyphenol content nearly 90%. You can still eat all these foods. You just have to eat them separately. And don't eat polyphenols when you're trying to absorb iron. You can mix your sprouts with berries and olive oil. It might be a great exception for added sugar or some sweetener.
Nice video. I've been consuming broccoli sprouts for about three years now. I grow them in a 1 quart Mason jar for three days from seed then I freeze them in a zip lock bag. I blend 15 to 20 grams with cranberry juice and make a really small smoothie. I strain them to get rid of the husks. There was another video on youtube that mentioned a Japanese study showing on the 3rd day of sprouting they have the Max amount of sulforaphane. Doctor Rhonda Patrick said freezing them also increases the sulforaphane.
Amazing info! Thanks for sharing. That sounds like a super nutrient-dense tiny smoothie you’re making. Do you get rid of the husks because of digestibility? texture?
Freezing does that? I knew that heating them to a certain temperature is supposed to exponentially increase the sulforaphane...courtesy of Dr. Patrick.
I recently started enjoying sprouts! I just make a salad, using sprouts instead of lettuce...Actually one of my favorites is the simplest...a bed of sprouts with sliced tomatoes on top. Then your favorite salad dressing lightly drizzled atop. I love it with a light Italian or Balsamic!
This sounds delicious! I make about three large mason jars at a time, I’m going to have to make a bigger batch for the salad. Broccoli sprouts sprout really well in a mason jar and are delicious so many ways, have you been successful sprouting kale? It doesn’t seem to grow well in a mason jar.
I’m eating broccoli sprouts for health reasons. I’m not too fond of the taste of plain sprouts, but I pour a little olive oil and acv over them plus a little course salt, and I like them so much now. I focus on chewing it thoroughly in order to release as much of the nutrients (sulforaphane) as possible.
Carnivore sounded extreme and difficult at first glance. (I think I'll go with Keto; I have more options) But carnivore is much easier. Less complicated and less rationalizing. Cravings vanish. It seems that the advantage of these sprouts justifies making an exception to the carnivore diet.
I have a 5 year old girl with autism. There have been a couple studies that show broccoli sprouts substantially helps. Like most kids she is a very picky eater. I love your idea regarding consuming it with avocados. She won't do it, but I believe she might do it will a carrot OJ smoothie. I will let you know how it goes.
Autistic mom here too of a 5 year old son. started spouting these year. I steam mine and add it in his meals I also give my son a gluten free dairy free diet.
Daveforgot127.. Silica water washes metals, toxins out of body. I have been giving to my granddaughter non verbal autistic 3yrs old, the last 7 months she is starting to talk, she looks me in my eyes, facial recognition, motor skills increased. Ect... along with speech therapy.. You can get 97% Silica water from Figi Water..
Hi Robin! Great video! You must know that sulforaphane is created upon damage to the plant such as from tearing, or chewing, or chopping during food preparation. Sulforaphane is really a defense mechanism of the plant, in that it produces a slightly bitter taste that discourages herbivores from continuing to munch on the sprouts. . Mixing the sprouts with orange juice is a great idea, but I find pineapple juice is even better for cutting that bitter undertaste. I also like to add a pinch of pink Himalayan salt to add flavor. . You should have also mentioned myrosinase, the enzyme that's needed to convert the precursor glucoraphanin into the desired compound sulforaphane. Glucoraphanin is hardy enough to survive the heat of cooking, but myrosinase is apparently much more fragile. . Rhonda Patrick recommends adding a pinch of dried mustard to your steamed or boiled broccoli before serving, to ensure sulforaphane is delivered - mustard is also a cruciferous vegetable. . So I add the pinch of mustard to the blended sprouts and pineapple juice as well, even though no cooking was done in that case. Just in case, you know. . Well, that's my 2¢. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing Michael! Love these tips. I personally find both pineapple and mustard to be exceptionally delicious. So I’m definitely going to try your recs! Do you eat sprouts on a daily basis?
I'm doing a keto/low carb diet and saw a video touting the benefits of sprouts so I ordered a salad mix of seeds and got started with those. Just ordered a bag of Broccoli seeds to do 'just' the broccoli. The sprouts I've eaten, I love it on a low carb bagel with cream cheese and the sprouts sprinkled on top as well as making an omelette with a sprinkle of cheese and some veggies and sprinkling sprouts inside before folding it over and serving it on a plate. I don't 'cook' the sprouts in the omelette, I add them in just before folding and serving. I love the fresh crunch and taste with both. Next time I make tuna salad I plan on adding in sprouts as well.
I eat broccoli and radish sprouts every morning on my avocado toast. I top it with lemon juice, salt and pepper. That is my breakfast and I love it. I’m glad you mentioned red cabbage sprouts because I’m gonna try them next.
I agree … sprouts taste the best with fats and a little acid. I highly recommend drizzling broccoli sprouts with Primal Kitchen’s avocado oil Caesar dressing. Nothing else needed. SO fresh and yummy!
I eat ‘em every day!! I often mix them with organic sauerkraut and kefir!! And I’m a senior citizen who is amazingly healthy and energetic for “my age.”
I've been sprouting for almost 7 years now. If you eat broccoli sprouts with ground pepper, your body absorbs more of the nutrients from the sprouts. If you freeze the sprouts, that instantly creates more than double the sulforaphane content in the sprouts. Pouring 158F / 70C hot water on the sprouts for 5 minutes will more than triple the sulforphane content. Never boil sprouts or you lose all the nutrients. Also microwaving them for 20 secs works as well. Sulforaphane is created from the sprouts when they are damaged by chopping them, chewing them, heating them, or freezing them. Also, the younger spouts contains more sulforaphane than the longer and older sprouts.
I scramble a couple of eggs. Before I plate them I put avocado and or mayo on Ezekiel bread. I add a sprinkle of salt on the eggs and place about 1/3 C of sprouts on top. It’s a delicious breakfast sandwich.
Thank you for posting your taste test findings on mixing broccoli sprouts w/ other foods. You gave me a really good starting point to start enjoying my broccoli sprouts :)
They taste like watercress but hotter to me. I freeze them then make a smoothie with berry's every morning you hardly taste them that way. When frozen the ice crystals defrosting in them acts like chewing which activates the chemical your after. Been taking them for 5mts now started as my wife has stage 4 cancer I believe it's one of supplyments that are boosting her chemo. Wish we had been taking these for a year or 2 before this. So if anyone is reading this please please just take them their very very easy to Sprout with sprouting jars prevention is way easier than cure👍
Thanks for sharing your story! A daily berry smoothie seems like is a delicious option that’s easier to stick with than other recipes. It’s so true that a preventive health approach can make a huge impact on our lives in the long run… it’s a shame that it’s hard for many of us to measure that impact and stay motivated. Being healthy is such a gift; appreciate your reminder of that. ❤️
I came here because I just tried my first broccoli sprouts and I didn’t find them tasty at all. After reading your comment, I tried your suggestion, and they were delicious. Thank you.
My favorite broccoli sprouts recipe. Wrap of your choice, 1/2 avocado, tomato slices, a load of sprouts, lightly salted and peppered. Easy and amazingly good.
So helpful! Thanks for doing the legwork. The unused sprouting jar I bought 2 years ago has been calling me to revisit my idea to grow my own. Thanks for the inspiration...🌱🌱🌱
By the way, your skin looks amazing! Must be the healthy choices you make! ❤ Great combinations!! Thank you for putting this together! It may not be as palatable for some, but making combinations like you have presented in your video will help for those who are picky with taste. We like it on our "hipster toast!”
@@TheScienceofSelfCare It’s basically a toast with a spread of mashed avocados, we usually like a spread of roasted garlic on the bottom. Then with that base, you can add anything you’d like on top, sprouts, cilantro and various herbs, fruits, cucumber slices, olives, nuts, etc. 😊
I make my own in a jar with organic seeds...I eat mine with the fermented cabbage and sardines for lunch...I love them....love broccoli and radish sprouts.
hello Robyn, thank you for all your time & information on broccoli sprouts. I'm going to start a batch today and see how it goes, I'll get back to you on my thoughts. Great video,
My favorite is toasted tomato with avocado and broccoli sprouts with a sprinkle of sea salt and fresh black pepper ( bread of your choice). Had one today. Yum!
Just tried them for the first time today. I made a salad with lettuce, fine chopped english cucumber, red bell pepper, halved cherry tomatoes, and broccoli sprouts with balsamic vinaigrette and drizzle of Russian dressing. (as weird as it sounds 🙂❤️)Also you may enjoy them with a chickpea tuna salad sandwich with a tomato. They're much yummier than I thought. So glad that I made the purchase.
Heres how I do it. I take about 40 grams(dried then frozen) and mix with cold water. I blend it. I hold my nose with a glass of water close at hand and drink the sludge. Done in 8 seconds. Now I can enjoy the rest of my day. Rinse and repeat.
I learned real quick that sprouts are not intended to eat with any sort of warm foods. I have been consuming sprout for probably 30 years now, not on a daily basis. Back in the 70’s the only sprout we really used was alfalfa. And micro greens where not even a thing. So yeah, I always use with cold meals ❤
@@19grand as long as you are cooking them and eating them directly, they are safe. If you cook them and don’t eat all, hence leftovers, bacteria will certainly grow immediately.
Great video. Absolutely my favorite way is to have them with Avocado. I also add micro cilantro in addition to the broccoli sprouts and top it all with thinly sliced cucumber. Truly addictive :)
God specifically said the leaves will be the medicine. So many things in the Bible people willfully ignore which of course creates ignorance. I've been meaning to incorporate broccoli Sprouts into my diet for a while now and it's time I get serious about it. Thank you so much for sharing, I like how you put this together, very informative and very well said and I like your eye for detail. Thanks again!!
Thanks for your kind words Cameron! My current favorite recipe (suggested by a subscriber) is a sprout salad where you replace the lettuce in a salad with sprouts. So easy and so delicious with lots of toppings + EVOO. YUM!! I have been feeling amazing. 🔥
@@TheScienceofSelfCare You are most welcome my friend, I love it when the truth comes easy! Considering I eat salad everyday I was thinking that would be the best application for the Sprouts but I appreciate all your suggestions I'm not a picky eater so it should be easy. Thanks again!
I love broccoli sprouts! I make them on my kitchen counter in a mason jar. It’s super easy. I love the create ways you used them. Love the idea of adding them to a smoothie or on.
Hello! I was diagnosed with breast cancer last spring and my granny in law immediately sent me a broccoli sprouts growing kit so I’ve been making my own sprouts and eating them every day for a few months now. As the weather is now getting cooler I’ve started eating warmer foods and I’ve been throwing the sprouts on top of soups, etc. But then I started to wonder if the heat makes them lose any of the sulforaphane healing properties. I’ve googled it but get answers from it actually triples the benefits if heated to a certain temperature and others say it decreases the benefits. Have you done any research on this?
My favorite lately is: either cabbage leaf or romain lettuce, a heaping layer of sprouts, chunks of avacado, sometimes a little tomatoe, only if in season. The magic is a heavy drizzle of lemon infused olive oil and some flakey Himalayan pink salt. Roll it up in the leaf and yumm!
@@TheScienceofSelfCare lookn forward to tryn your recipes especially the poke bowl sounds amazing.. btw great vid keep em comin please. More health and healing knowledge 🙏
Wow! This recipes in this video are so thoughtful! I've been eating broccoli sprouts every morning as part of my breakfast in Japan, but I'd rate my enjoyment of them at around a 5/10 (similar to some of your earlier recipes). My standard breakfast is a bowl of white rice topped with natto, shiso garlic, & 100-200g of broccoli sprouts. It admittedly doesn't taste great, but I've found it's been good enough to consume regularly for a few months. Really appreciate your insight about salts and fatty foods (e.g. avocado) make the sprouts naturally much more enjoyable -- that makes perfect sense. The orange juice + blended sprouts recipe is another thoughtful recipe I wouldn't have thought of! Looking forward to trying these ideas out.
I grow my own sprouts and I find broccoli sprouts do have a strong flavor so I just eat a handful a day plain. With other sprouts I make a delicious salad with shredded carrots, red cabbage, green onion, sprouts, and a good sprinkle of furikake . The dressing is rice vinegar, a bit of sesame oil and done. So crunchy and tasty!
Strong flavor? You mean the beet like heat and bitterness when you chew on them? I believe that is the sulforaphane that is released from the sprouts when you chew on them.
Great video. I’ve been growing them and then freezing since Dr R.Patrick said it increased the suff (I can’t spell that) I didn’t know it was a precursor from the way she talked about it. She specifically mentioned the amounts of the Sufforphane (whatever) so that was really interesting from this video. After freezing I put a handful in the blender with pomegranate or red beet juice. It’s better with the pomegranate. I quit using the jars I have some round metal mesh growing cans. Btw. Never had heard the term functional eating. Like that a lot. Will search it on here after this. Thx!
As far as I know the third day (yellow sprouts) is the best time to eat the sprouts. Day 0: put the seeds into water to soak one day in the dark Day 1: soaked seeds start to grow in the dark Day 2: first germinated seeds can be put in the daylight Day 3: yellow sprouts are ready to eat 10 minutes in 70 degree celcius hot water increases 3 times the sulforaphane. Sorry for my English, I´m not a native speaker.
@@TheScienceofSelfCare Thank you. I wish I would do it often. My unrealistic goal is to have ready to eat sprouts daily. But always when I know I can rinse them regularly, I give them a try.
I grow my own sprouts and make a drink out of them every morning, using about 1oz of sprouts, ½ cup of filtered water, a dash of lemon juice and a little salt. I first soak the sprouts in 70°celcius maximum temp water for 10 minutes. The soaking is said to increase the sulforaphane bioavailability by 3.5 fold. But do not exceed the 70° as myrosinase is heat sensitive. Throw it in a blender and drink it down. It’s not very tasty, but its easy and packs a wallop nutritionally.
@@TheScienceofSelfCare My sentiments exactly! Except when it comes to organic grass fed beef liver. I can't handle the taste so I capsule my own. It's a lot of work, but worth it for "the most nutrient dense food on the planet". Might be a good video for your audience. :)
@@Meatychicken thanks for the suggestion! I have been taking capsules of desiccated beef organs for about half a year now and it’s had such a positive impact on how I feel! Don’t make my own though. :)
Great video. Love all the eating ideas. Sign me up for a community. Was raw for 10 years, then realized something was more important and been focusing on that. Yet missing it and adding back in my favorite sunflower sprouts 🌱. We made a sprout rack and grow lights. We juice them and add them to salads. Yet have to be grown in dirt. Am doing broccoli sprouts next - thank you for tips
Thanks for sharing, Tom! I’m happy to hear you’re finding what works for you. Growing sprouts at home seems like such a rewarding practice. I’ve been a bit lazy and have been shopping for mine :) … but becoming a sprout mama is definitely on my horizon 🌱💚
It’s my first time watching your TH-cam as I’m learning about sprouting. Thanks for the information. I like your self care videos so I’m subscribing! 😊👍
I sprinkle them over most meals (not in a clump like pictured in the video) My absolute favourite is as a topping to a vegetable frittata , it just adds so much to meal that was already my favourite. I can't go back!
That sounds so lovely! I think the sprinkling method makes it more palatable for those who do not like sprouts. But I also love the aesthetic look of a heap :) feels very “buddah bowl”
8 yrs ago i had a rheumatic arthritis due to my periodontal tooth. i had it extracted and grow my own sprouts such as brocoli, lentil , mung beans, raddish. i also eat more fermented foods on daily basis and after 2 years i was able to reverse my arthritis without a single medicine. now that is taking control of my health and such a powerful realization. now i'm 46 never felt this good than ever before.
Thank you for sharing!! Congrats on feeling great at 46 years young. I love hearing these stories 👏✨ I personally get allergic arthritis in my hands when I am inflamed / reacting to something. Broccoli sprouts definitely help me feel “less inflamed” and my hands are completely fine currently. I also go to the red/infrared sauna whenever I can, which helps as well. :)
@alexsalcedo8181 if you have periodontal disease then you have continuous supply of bad bacteria throughout your body as these travels in your blood which including your heart. These bacteria are toxins which cause your immune system to suppress but in the process attack healthy cells by mistakes. So it is very important to have best oral health ( no gum problems , tooth decay , amalgams and no root canals) cause our over all health depends in our oral health.
I was literally eating an avocado with sprouts as I was watching this! I’m gonna be eating sprouts on a daily basis from now on and this will be one of my go to ways!
After sprouting broccoli - can I keep it in the refrigerator? How long will the spouts last before they loose nutrient benefits? Thank you I have ordered sprouts and can’t wait 😊
Just looked this up - there are some companies creating freeze dried broccoli sprout capsules (quite expensive but easy to stick to). Never considered this as another option!
I make fermentates. Kimchi, kombucha, kefir, yogurt, etc.. , I'm going to start fermenting regular vegetables and wonder at the bio-properties of fermented broccoli sprouts.
@@TheScienceofSelfCare the thick creamy coconut cream that comes in a can tastes the best. The extra coconut fat helps absorb the nutrients from greens into your body.
I haven’t really used too many ways but just a quick salad I threw together from ingredients in the fridge was the sprouts raw mixed with arugula/rocket, pickles, mustard, ACV, pumpkin seeds for crunch, feta cheese
Another way to eat broccoli sprouts is as a topping on a lentil taco. I use toasted corn tortilla, lentils, hot flavored rice, broccoli sprouts and a dab of salsa. Really good.
This is really good. I’m always on the go, so I take my supplement Sulforaphane. If I have time I’ll enjoy my fresh sprouts. You are a sweetheart Thank you!
Excellent initiative to incorporate cruciferous vegetables and sprouts in the diet - I eat them daily. I would only advise to chose a better base than cashews, which have probably the worst fat profile of all nuts (pure omega 6), besides being full of lectins...
Thanks for sharing! I personally choose cashews as they make my digestive system feel better than other nuts like almonds and walnuts. But I also tolerate macadamia nuts really well, which have a better omega 6/3 profile than cashews. I’ll be stocking up on those again. :)
I am new to sprouts and I am excited to begin. Well, actually I do sprinkle them in my smoothies and will continue but I didn't know that other cruciferous vegetables were sprouted like this as well. Thanks!
Awesome that you already sprinkle them in smoothies! It really does disguise the taste that way. Sprouts + Avocado + Garlic Salt remains a favorite combo of mine. :)
Also… looking for a recommendation for a good brand of sprouts. The brand I’ve been using only sprouts about half the seeds each time. And what do you do with the unsprouted seeds, just throw them away? Are they okay to flush down sink?
I liked your video very much. Guacamole is what I want to try. I eat broccoli sprouts for their benefits and am not a fan of their taste. I do a smoothie with sprouts and berries only. I add blue, rasp, straw and black berries and few Pomegranate seeds and blend. Thank you
That smoothie sounds delicious and full of antioxidants! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the sprout guacamole. With a salty, crunchy chip...mmm. It's been a win for me. :)
I don’t know how healthy this is, but fried bologna Mayonnaise, mustard, dill, and broccoli sprouts On dark Jewish rye bread. Washed down with a bottle of yoo hoo. The fatty bologna goes really well with the broccoli sprouts😮
Dr Rhonda Patrick said that putting them in your freezer increases the release of glucoraphanin, which boosts the supplemental value of the sprouts. . .put them right into your smoothie. . BTW your cheeks are really. . . Cheeky. . . Cute as can be...❤
I love this so much! Thank you so much for sharing. Especially your findings on taste combinations and what you preferred to go better together than other things like pairing them with the fattiness element of avocado and such. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Dr. Brooke Goldner, but she has 1000s of amazing healing testimonials from people she's helped worldwide, and they're primarily from cruciferous vegetables in conjunction with plant-based omega-3s like flaxseed and chia seed oil. I actually asked her since she basically has live Q&A sessions online every Wednesday afternoon, I was excited to ask her since she has had such tremendous results with cruciferous vegetables if she had ever considered cruciferous Sprouts since that would seem to amplify the results. She seemed to shoot it down rather quickly which was disappointing to me; however, I still plan to be the guinea pig and experiment with cruciferous sprouts myself like broccoli Sprouts, radish Sprouts, after watching your video - red cabbage Sprouts, etc. I am in the process of experimenting with my healing from a multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and I am convinced that Sprouts are going to be instrumental. Thank you again so much for sharing all of this! Hv
Hi @e11zabeth , thank you so much for your kind words! Since struggling with bouts of autoimmune issues, I’ve FULLY taken on the guinea pig mentality myself. :) I’ve found so many random and interesting ways to feel amazing. Broccoli sprouts definitely do make a difference for me (don’t think it’s just placebo at this point). Infrared saunas have also been incredible for my mental and physical health. Our bodies are so dynamic and I always get excited to explore new ways to care for them. Wishing you all the best on your journey! Would love to hear any updates from your experimentations with sprouts. Lots of love, Robin
Can you just get sprouts at your local store?? I live in a small town and am not finding!! Also what do you use on your lips in this video? It’s very nice.
Great that you had a good time and found some new recipes. This video however completely lack information on how it made you feel. I thought that would be the point of such a video.
Hey there, thanks for sharing. Many nutrition interventions are not going to make us feel completely differently overnight. And 7 days is not long enough to notice physiological changes from consuming more sulforaphane. That’s why I like to use studies to better understand which compounds in food are most likely to support my overall health. Based on research, I’m sure the “me” in 10 years will be happier and healthier having incorporated sprouts into my diet consistently. So the focus of this video was to see how easy and pleasurable it is to regularly consume sprouts, since we will only receive meaningful benefits with consistent, long-term consumption. :)
I’m new to this channel. I’m not a bio hacker, but I want to eat healthier, and I’d like to defy aging by eating more greens. I hope I find more information on this group. As they said, information is knowledge, thereby knowledge is power.
I genuinely thought you were going to tell us how eating sprouts changed your body, what results you noticed. Disappointed this was not the case nevertheless appreciate the info. You have beautiful skin. God bless you!

@Idaho1224. How do you prepare the sprouts for eating?
I’ve made growing 4 tablespoons of my own broccoli sprouts a part of my weekly routine. Each morning I make a salad of a handful of broccoli sprouts, a cucumber, raw baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, a boiled egg, strawberries, and blueberries sprinkled with black pepper and Olive Garden salad dressing. Very delicious and satisfying. 10/10
Using healthy whole food ingredients then topping it off with an unhealthy dressing seems very contradictory.
Super good!

Not smart foods. except salt and coconut oil and raw carrots. PUFAs are toxic. You're missing meats, OJ, milk and cheese, beef liver and oysters once per week.. oh, and a couple of eggs per day. you're welcome
The only thing you got right in your salad is the salmon. I dare you to check out the carnivore diet.
@@Jsaves1 Omega 3's are a scam and so is keto and low carb. But yes, animals foods are the way to go, with fruit juice, honey, etc.
Here are some considerations for above options:::::
1) Eating raw: Raw broccoli sprouts are a convenient and quick way to consume them.
Great overview!! Thanks so much for sharing. My recent favorite method to consume sprouts has been raw, blended and quickly consumed. :)
I've been off medication.. touch wood.
Mustard seed powder can add myrosinase back after light cooking of broccoli/sprouts .
I wish I could get the word out about vacuum blending. Vac blending solves the problem of blending in oxygen which destroys the sensitive nutrientes.
Patrick.
@@TheScienceofSelfCare the husks are a protective shell for the goodness within at least that's how I feel about it.

Wow that’s such a simple and lovely idea, yet I’ve never tried it or heard of it. I’m going to make a sprout salad this week. :)

@@carolmaplesden916 I can report back that this is DELICIOUS. Made a sprout salad last week. 10/10 ✨
I’m always amazed how a little EVOO and sea salt can make nearly any veg taste divine👌
If you really want good health. Look into the carnivore diet. I dare you too.
@@Jsaves1 I have been doing keto for several months, but I haven’t made the plunge into carnivore.
Sourdough, avocado, lemon juice and broccoli sprouts! Yum! I’m sure a sprinkle of mustard powder would be great too!
What do you mean with a pinch of mustard? Mustards seeds? Mustard like the creme?
That ALL sounds delicious Diadre! I can imagine an everything bagel with cream cheese would be a divine combo 👏👏👏 thanks for sharing your recipes!

Thank you for the update.
Your skin looks amazing.
My favorite is canned tuna, avocado, garlic, sprouts, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
That sounds blissful. Can’t go wrong with that combo, with or without sprouts!
I scramble a couple of eggs. Before I plate them I put avocado and or mayo on Ezekiel bread. I add a sprinkle of salt on the eggs and place about 1/3 C of sprouts on top. It’s a delicious breakfast sandwich.

Nice! Do you have any favorite recipes? :)
Why is it bad to eat with warm food?

Day 0: put the seeds into water to soak one day in the dark
Day 1: soaked seeds start to grow in the dark
Day 2: first germinated seeds can be put in the daylight
Day 3: yellow sprouts are ready to eat
10 minutes in 70 degree celcius hot water increases 3 times the sulforaphane.
Sorry for my English, I´m not a native speaker.
Thanks for sharing! Your English is great. :) do you make your own sprouts often?
Thanks for sharing your detailed protocol! I never mind compromising on taste if it’s extra nutritious :)
@@TheScienceofSelfCare My sentiments exactly! Except when it comes to organic grass fed beef liver. I can't handle the taste so I capsule my own. It's a lot of work, but worth it for "the most nutrient dense food on the planet". Might be a good video for your audience.

I eat sprouts on egg salad wraps. It tastes so delicious!
That does sound like a great combo!! Egg salad always makes me think of my childhood :)
brocolli is anti-thyroid. How's it working out? Feel cold a lot?
Bean sprouts in stir fry. Yummy.
Do you grow them indoors?
I’m new to this channel. I’m not a bio hacker, but I want to eat healthier, and I’d like to defy aging by eating more greens. I hope I find more information on this group. As they said, information is knowledge, thereby knowledge is power.
Spinach tastes much better than broccoli sprouts
Is powdered form from Amazon actually have real sulphoraphane??
What do you grow them from?
Delicious is a word I wouldn't use to describe sprouts.
I genuinely thought you were going to tell us how eating sprouts changed your body, what results you noticed. Disappointed this was not the case nevertheless appreciate the info. You have beautiful skin. God bless you!
Can we take mature broccoli instead of broccoli sprouts..
Great video Ty where do you get you sprouts anyone anyone
The seeds can be purchased online (eg. Amazon) and the fresh sprouts can be found at most health food stores. :)
