As usual guy's another brilliant episode. The way you pair work together Masha'allah is admirable. Since you were talking about how many episodes you have covered regarding the decking, I have an idea.....well, more your comfort and safety. Will you please, please, please, please, please, please, please construct a simple stand for your Mitre Saw. You have some way to go till completion of your lovely home, so the Mitre Saw has still more work to do. Seeing you squatting before that machine is not doing your back any justice. Thanks guy's.

Hehehe we do want to build a stand but at the same time we are really excited to finish the deck and start working on the interior so we tend to always leave the stand for later. But we will definitely build one day 😊😉 by the way thanks for the concern!!😍

    Nice!
It really amazes me how you guys stay motivated or not get frustrated after making huge mistakes, at least what I can see from the video. If it was me I would be really mad or angry, LOL.
That deck definitely takes a lot of work to do. It looks really nice now!
In case of a Q&A video, I have a few questions to ask. (if you don't mind answering)
    1) How did you guys meet each other?
    2) How many children do you plan to have? (because of the container house size)
    3) Are you planning to live in there till retirement?
    4) What are your daytime jobs? If not, what are your professions?
I hope you guys take the time to answer. As always, keep up the good work! 👍👍
I wish everyday was a Monday just so I can see your project progresses. 😄

... I hope this note finds you both healthy & focused... your mistakes were/are minuscule, the old screws may have not been the best choice, but IMO, they are good enough, some would have to be replaced down the road, but some will/would last way past time to replace the deck. and, again you amaze me with your dedication to quality. ;). Soooo.... again IMO... another great job. Remember that most of these people who criticize your decisions just sit in front of a monitor & are pissed that life has left them behind ;) Kudos to you two, your project & your future... keeping the 'journey' fun & productive is key. May you have the same joy that your videos bring us. :)

Always look forward to your videos on Mondays and enjoy seeing the progress. Hopefully the weather holds out for you and you can get that roof done! ;)
A couple of questions for your Q&A just in case...
    1. Where you currently live, are you downsizing or have you already downsized in anticipation of finally moving in to the completed home. In Australia most homes are pretty spacious so it would be a shock moving into a smaller space unprepared.
    2. Are you going to leave the exterior of the container as it is or will you clad it? No doubt having the roof and deck above the container will help keep the temperature down. Are you planning or do you need any other insulation in that part of the world?
    3. Next weeks video may answer this but will your deck have a railing to prevent accidental falls? It looks like you may have a pretty spectacular view from up there. Will you be climbing a ladder to get onto the deck, or are stairs in the plan?
I am learning to weld at a local school in anticipation of starting my own project in the near future. Also scouring youtube for videos on Solar, wiring, framing, etc. Hopefully I can learn along with you and avoid making too many mistakes myself! :D
    Looking forward to next Monday

Glad to hear the rooster is in the background again....😂. By the way, there are different grades of Stainless steel. The best to use for this application is 316 L stainless. The ‘L’ means low carbon contents which is what causes rust. These are used in Marine applications, so they will hold up. Also, you can get these with a ‘Torx’ or ‘Hex’ head to them for easier install. Please call on me if you might need help with metals or questions designing something. I have been a Machinist 40 yrs. I am getting ready to build my own 7 shipping container home and Working machine shop. I love helping people. You can see some of my projects at my channel “ProfabDesigns” here on TH-cam. Great job to you both. Your a cute couple and it shows the love you share for each other.

Only getting to watch your video update now, but it's looking good!! Glad you used the spacers to speed up laying the decking boards, but make 3 or 4 spacers so you can leave one at each end of the board and 1 for the middle (plus a spare). Also once the whole deck is laid the gaps aren't so noticeable - it's the sunlight getting under from the edges which makes the gaps look bigger but once complete these will look better. Keep up the great work. Boa noite!!
PS. on warm days Guarana (Antarctica) is my favourite cool down drink!

I can save you some time on your Experiment and "Spoiler Alert" the more gap now will be even more of a gap later as the wood shrinks. I've constructed many decks in the past and on my first deck I used a 16D nail as a spacer for the gap. Sure it was very uniform until the Pressure Treated Lumbered Dried out about 45 days later and the gap extended to easily 1/2 of an Inch or .5mm and I am here to say that did not look good. Thereafter I butt the decking as tight as possible and when it shunk left about 1/4" gap if that. Water takes the path of least resistance and any gap is plenty to allow water to pass by. What is more important is the deck slope with regards to how it will allow water to run off. If you entire deck is flat with little to no slope, deck gap, is not going to do anything for you and will probably hinder you.
Cupping is another issue with Decks if you install decking with the CUP UP. That will hold water for days until the Sun dries it out. Sometimes decking is cut from the very center and the plank will cup on either side so there is not much you can do about that. View the plank from the short side or width and see how the lines go through the board. Look for U shape and install with the U pointing down. The U is the CUP of the plank. Your boards don't seem to be too wide so Cupping might not be an issue for you but it could be for someone else. It helps to install the screws very close to the outer edge to keep the plank from cupping as much. Of course wood moves and if it wants to cup no screw pattern will help but may slow it down.

Thanks so much for all the advices Paul. I don't know if it will help but the wood was pretty dry. We left drying on the shade for like 3 week before applying stain. It might be the reason the wood wasn't straight at all when we installed. To be honest there is no much we can do now. We already finish all the decking installation so fingers crossed, let's hope for the best. The next deck we need to do will have a roof on it so I guess we will have less problems. Hopefully!!

It's very good you let the wood dry before installing it, you should not have much issues then regarding cupping or drying out further. You also sealed the wood which was good too as the Stain should keep the wood dryer for some time, just depends. If you get a lot of rain and sun the stain should hold up fine. But if you get more sun and less rain, then the stain might dry out sooner rather than later. The wood I used was pressure treated and was very wet hence the reason it shrunk as much as it did. If you said in the video I missed it about what type of wood you used.
I also noticed you used a drill to drive your screws and though it worked just fine you may want to consider an impact for driving future screws. Once I started using an impact to drive screws I hardly used my drill again. The drill is very handy for making holes especially larger holes but the impact is awesome for driving screws. The screw is very hard on a drill but for an impact that is designed to take a beating the screw is very easy. Pre-drilling the holes is always good and an impact makes short work of starting and driving screws...
You two are making great progress; I just wish I lived close enough to give a hand I luv doing this sort of work. Feel free to message me if you run into any issues or have any questions; I just might be able to assist you...
      Cheers...

Thanks so much for taking the time to help us. This makes a huge difference for us. Actually we forgot to mention we did let the wood dry. About the drill we actually used both. We did a pre hole with the drill and screw with the impact driver. It's great. I love it!!

sounds like u should ask around and research it b4 u start a project,, who is ur hardware guy,, geese guys dont know u ask b4 u start go 2 a library and research it 1st use new methods and old wood filler is not water proof just water resistant wont last 4 ever yes awhile but from wat i see it will hold for a few years no problem id worry about it wen it becomes an issue with the screws not go back ,at least on ur top decking boards
