    The deck looks brilliant, you should be quite proud of yourselves. I'm sure it ended up more complicated than you thought it would - that's always the way. Congratulations on finishing it, now the exciting part of starting the interior begins!!

    Interesting that these old videos are showing up in my feed and so good looking back to the time before you even had any idea that you would end up owning and restoring your yacht and end up living aboard. Your goal when you made this video was to live in your container home and the fact that you still can from time to time is great. Is it ready to be lived in at the moment?

    As a general contractor, I can completely understand about the battery problem. You problem too is those drills are for very simple basic projects and are probably very underpowered. I would upgrade to an 18v drill driver set and an extra battery charger and batteries. Hook the charger to a solar panel or local power if you have that then you can use 2 devices on battery while the other 2 are charging. I have built large portions of slat fences on one battery charge before you need to change battery. I would have installed a rubberized coating paint across the entire roof of the containers before installing the roof. If you bury the top under a roof, be sure that the original surface is fully sealed and protected before proceeding. If you had just created a metal beam frame around the edge of the roof that is elevated on one side by only say 5 degrees on both containers your roof deck would have been a whole lot less complicated to build. Angle the roofs towards the rear of the building and then run the gutters across the back. You can then channel the water from the roof into a catch basin and then use a solar powered pump to get a little pressure built up. Run the water through a set of filters and you can get clean water on demand.

    Wow, your deck turns out real nice in the end!
    About the table saw, be extreme careful with it. Next time don't crouch and saw, instead put it in such way that you saw things in standing position. That way your body is more stable than when you're in crouching position. When you crouch you might lose balance and may accidentally lean forward to the blade. That's dangerous! Better be safe than sorry.
    Nice to have you provide the important specs of the deck. Didn't expect it to be that expensive. Nearly the price of one 20 ft container, right?
    Oh, and one advice: since you're not going to put rails along the deck, you can put flowerpots or something els near the edge to form a barrier so that it's much safer than having nothing on the edge of the deck. Just for perception and safety. ;)

    Yay congrats! so in Texas we have insects like bees & wasps that like to get into all the cracks in buildings, do you have problems there in your country with bugs?

    • @OddLifeCrafting
      @OddLifeCrafting  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes we do. A lot actually. We still need to come up with a solution for that!!😒

    • @cristrob
      @cristrob 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey guys, I'm from Brazil and here we have problems too. So, I thought about this for years and I believe that a solution is put some reforced mosquito net between the wood structure and the wood deck, before of screw the deck, put a mosquito net for all the area deck and sides, and then screw the deck. The insects cannot entry, there's no entryway for a new home 😉

    Dear Eduardo and Roberta,
    First I would like to say what a great project. Very inspiring to others that have the same ambitions.
    I would like to give some free advice to both of you that I believe will make your future projects in thw tiny house much easier.
    1. Return your 12 volt drill and impact driver and get an 18 volt or 20 volt with a minimum of 4 amp hour batteries, I promise you will be super impressed with the additional power and fewer charges.
    2. Go to You Tube and learn the proper techniques of construction for each new project you start.
    3. Go to You Tube and learn how to use the circular saw and table saw you have.
    Thia is the first video of yours that I have watched and I have seen where I could have saved hours of time and would have been much safer in the process. Neither of you should be operating power tools at the top of a ladder without proper footing, especially if it can be done on the ground and screwed in from the ladder.
    I think I heard that the deck has taken 26 weeks? That's a very long time. Use TH-cam to learn how to do everything else you have to do, it is a great resource.
    Best
    PK

    • @OddLifeCrafting
      @OddLifeCrafting  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for all the advices Pat. We do actually try to find on TH-cam lots of information. Some of then we don’t find. And of course when we start a new task there is always new challenges we didn’t even know existed. Making videos is also something that slows us dow a lot for sure. There is always the camera and the tripod involved on the task and that can be confusing. Well we have been learning a lot with our mistakes. And we are really happy with that. Thanks a lot for the support!!

    Just a safety FYI, you probably shouldn't use your ladders upside down and I believe you have way to much angle when using the ladders.
