    Its so great to see how well you are planning ahead with things like the welding where many would just rush each step and not think of the risks like the heat of welding outside, transferring to the internal plate. Great work, cant wait to see the update next week!

    Your getting a good handle on the welding now Duca, good idea to complete welding outside before doing the interior would like to mention that I did my cut outs with a plasma cutter have used one for many years find it easier than angle grinder at my age, quality cutters make very clean cuts with little dross which is easily removed ,keep up the good work, Garry

    :) Everything metal is going to be welded. Same as me, I get better at welding and look for anything that can be welded. But sometimes we also have to consider that nuts and bolt, screws can do the job also, and without the risk of burning something. Once you get electricity installed you have another hurdle because you will need to disconnect everything before you weld anything else to the container. It is starting to look more and more like a house, looking forward to your future videos.

    in Amish communities in the US, they put the wood on the sides of their houses and grow grape vines on the sides of the houses to keep the sun off and to help cool the house. It's a proven idea to keep your house cool and your metal can get real hot.

    Hi Guys: A couple of thoughts on the wood batons/strips on the wall. On the West coast of Canada a popular wall treatment is 100mm red cedar stained wood strips with a narrow gap between to see black through. I like the 1 in 3 design ratio which could in your covering be 100 mm boards and a 30 mm gap or 100mm wood with a 50mm gap. I you want a dark stain on the wood paint the metal a light color. or the reverse light wood stain/color over dark metal. I would use narrow studs say 25mm on the edge facing out. Paint the studs the same color as the metal so the horizontal strips visually pop. An alternative to consider if you want it more open use 50mm strips with a 150mm gap between them. Or a 100mm wood strip and a 200mm gap. In both cases the 1 in 3 visual ratio. In the latter wood 1/3 gap 2/3 still a 1 in 3 ratio for the repeating pattern or the reverse wood 2/3, gap 1/3. the old guy Bert

    I found you guys this afternoon. First at ll. Greettings from Argentina. I'm still trying to get the money to afford a similar project. In the meanwhile, I get some ideas of us. You're doing it so well. I like it!.
    Just let me place some Warnings about the green roof.
    According the house's orientation and the roof, you won't get as much sun as you can collect. (Entrace is on the South side, and, in Brazil ... Sun's path is always on the north side. So you need to place the plants higher.
    In that case...
    You need to contemplate extra weight for soil (about 60Kg per sqm - 30 cms deep ... most -vegetables- plants are ok with that amount-)
    And last...
    Windows are about 1,6 - 1,8 mt width. Does it?.
    So, If you place a 'terrace bench' you need to consider 'How hard it gonna be .. to plant seeds, harvest, or to replace a plant...on the sotuher-eastern corner'
    In a deep bench method it's recommended to make them 80cms to 120 cms widht (in case you can walk around all the sides).
    And, thanks for the idea about the deck roof.
    Hoping the best for U guys.
    Alejandro.

    • @OddLifeCrafting
      @OddLifeCrafting  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot for all the tips Alejandro. The green roof we are planning is actually on the other side, the north side of the house. On the entry roof we will not have a green roof. 👌🏼 about the weight we plan to have the roof on the top of a steel structure. But for now this are just plans. Hehehe we will focus now on the inside so we can move in as soon as possible. 😊😊 thanks a lot for the help!! See you tomorrow hehehe

    Remove the remaining Container doors and create a huge window leading to a balcony outside. Have a stair case on the balcony leading to the roof deck. Just an idea.....

  • @ruddo1970
    @ruddo1970 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just a welding question Eduardo. I notice you had the grounding clamp attched to the brackets as you welded them. Was that to give you something to hold them in position or were you unable to do the weld attaching the clamp elsewhere against the container? I ask as in my welding class I attach the clamp to the edge of the metal table. The block I place the job on is made of metal so the circuit can still be completed to get an arc. I guess I'm wondering if the size of the container affects the welding machine's ability to complete the circuit if the clamp isn't close...

    • @OddLifeCrafting
      @OddLifeCrafting  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s actually for both. It was an easy way to hold the brackets on place for the first tack weld. I’m pretty sure that if the ground is clamped too far away it can become a problem. Or I could have grind an area close to the spot, but I think it would be more work. Hope you could understand my confusing answer. Hehehe 😊

      In his house no. Maybe if we one day build another one in a more remote place. Será que em vez de fazer este brise com ripas de madeira não seria interessante uns grandes painéis de sombrites? Se colocados fixos no chão, com uma distância das paredes, teriam um ótimo corredor que serviria também para montar uma horta.
    Algo assim (primeiro painel no canto superior esquerdo):
    br.pinterest.com/pin/221661612888481652/
    Só que colocar sombrite de alta densidade em vez de lona. Se optarem por tubos PVC, mais econômicos, podem ser pintados.

    I see you putting the ladders too steep. It's very very unsafe and uncomfortable to work when doing so. Maybe you can shorten the ladder and try putting it more vertical. Just a suggestion! 😉
