you could use the Antares to disable a cargo ship as a fully crewed interdictor and then once you succeed at this the two of you board and take over from inside. passanger could then pilot stolen ship and you take Antares to an awating cargo ship for a transfer somwhere hidden

Hopefully you can install a controlling blade or NPC. No one is going to sit in the back jawning till you can use the EMP as compared to sitting in their own fighter.
I mean... i would. Its an ootimal way to get B-roll for youtube videos of flight in third person whike still providing some utility to combat... but i wouldnt buy it just for that. But id ride in someone elses for it!
Lets be honest what we actually wanted to see on the scorpius platform was the option to put in a size 5 spinal mount or a missile rack. I think RSI actually has something beautiful here that could be modified into something great. Imagine the following: copilot guided missiles. And I don't mean "oh hey pilot point the front of the ship so I can get a lock!" I mean the co pilot being able to actively control the missile to prevent flares and jamming from being an issue (rather like a TOW missile) and lock on to targets that are off bore. Not only would this improve copilot gameplay massively (because now the copilot has other things to do than just the power triangle) it would also make missiles more of a genuine threat. And if CIG could make the missile racks properly modular like they did on the Ares with the wing racks then it would be a game changer.
Hoping for an e-war master mode and that they give the two seats a choice of two of the three mastermodes. Example: Pilot gets guns and missiles, CoPilot gets missiles and Ewar. That'd help.
All I'd like to see added to this ship is the same maneuverability as a base model and a search RADAR added to the underside controlled by the Co-Pilot. This way they can find contacts in deep space, and increase local RADAR range. Then they can send that info via a link with your party so other ships can see what you can. Add a C2 node that's a 2D screen so they can provide tactical data of the air space.
I guess the ship with less co-pilot function is the Banu Defender? But at least it has an interior with a couple beds. And if CIG ever fixes the hitscan lightspeed guns...
It seems the Antares was developed to be tested by one person only due to the simplicity of the 2nd seater, that simplicity may give some advantage for someone who has 2 accounts, 2 computers, only needing the 2nd computer mouse for the 2 buttons during combat for the EMP, being faster than 2 people working together.
This reminds me in the 1990's of when I was on the market to purchase a small Cessna. I finally opted to get the 172 Skyhawk over the 152 because of the extra seats to bring friend flying, but that didn't pan out as I was flying solo 95% of the time. So with that lesson learned and applying the same logic to SC, I'll personally stick to a solo ship with MAX capabilities from the pilot seat (with of course the option of occupying the back seat if I happen to have a friend near by). It is a beautiful ship though. As usual, great explanation and another great video Youngblood. Cheers
When you reference the Sentinel, it needs to be said "currently" - it was never designed or supposed to have EMP - it has always been stated as having EMP missiles.
This would have been a much more unique concept if the turret had been kept but comprised of two EMP guns and two quantum jamming guns. The EMP guns could fire in bursts and disable ships, the quantum jamming guns could be beam weapons and to maintain quantum jamming, the player has to keep a continuous beam on their target. Hold the left mouse button to charge the EMP guns and release the button to fire them, hold the right mouse button to fire the quantum beam. The middle mouse button could be used to modulate the power on the quantum beam so that the player can maintain the energy levels. Because everyone would be able to see where the beam is coming from, that would make the ship more of a target for defenders so the task of the pilot would be to dodge any attacks whilst keeping the beam in range of the target ship. This would also take advantage of the turret and its capability to be repositioned so the turret gunner would require skill to keep the beam on the target whilst the pilot is evading attacks.
It would have been interesting if they had made a new gun permanently mounted onto the Scorpius turret that had kind of the effect on a single that the QED and EMP would have. At least then the co-pilot is actually still in the turret doing something active. Instead of four turret guns it has two. One is a S4 QED gun, and the other one is a S4 distortion gun. The rangers and stats of those guns could be tweaked to make them not OP.
@STLYoungblood: about EMP and range. The further the range, the less effective is the EMP damage. Therefore the higher range of the Antares is no bonus at all. To be effective with EMP u have to be close to the components u want to damage.
Co pilot gameplay right now sucks, and that's in no way limited to this one ship. We have to assume that they'll address that at some point and that will positively impact the Antares as well as every other ship with a copilot seat.
Seems like an Antares, a Legionnaire and another fighter would be a good combo. Knock out a ship and make sure it can't jump then board with the Legionnaire and kill the crew and then steal the ship or cargo.
As a solo player, I'm hoping for some AI and mpc crew options for full use of this ship...and the Redeemer as well... I can't be the only one thinking about this... Lol...
I like the idea of this ships new features but i feel they have applied them to the wrong ship losing the turret on the scorpius is a big loss I i appreciate that they cant have the original turret on the ship and the emp so it is what it is. However if they had applied this feature to one of the oldest ships in the game the Gladiator they could have used the unused modular center section for the EMP and retained the turret giving a far more usable balanced ship with more engagement for the co-pilot it would be slower which would be a disadvantage but would have size 5 torps.
If you want firepower just get the Scopious and a mate.. and even without a mate just get the Scorpious in case you find someone to fly with. I mean who tf wants to be in the second seat of the antares to press one button.. And worse you still need your Pilot to tell you when to use it because you have no hud to see if the enemie is in range..
They said this version is a bit faster. And velocity is very important. At least as far as single-seat fighters go. If you want to solo this fighter having a higher top speed is probably more beneficial to you than a turret no one is sitting in.
👍🏽 @Youngblood Another clear presentation and excellent video! In addition to your profound points and strategies, I also envision the Anteres in an escort/defense role with Scorpius/fighters. It seems to facilitate stand off as well escape for larger ships or formations that may be more heavily armed for close in defense. Basically they hinder capabilities and ability of pursuers to jump after or attack ships their element of defenders are protecting. Being a heavy fighter it should have the additional range and crew to serve multiple roles in addition (scout, screen, picket etc.) Something not often discussed' heavy/multi-crew fighters may better enable pilot swaps as opposed to ship swaps simply switching seats in place which may come into play after SC goes live and instances where "shifts" may be a part of player strategy in maintaining presence, detection or interdiction capability in an area . Triple threat ship- looks to be pretty capable in 3 areas fighter/QT Dampener/EMP attack, these capabilities in coordinated attacks with Eclipse(s)/Polaris=Nightmare lol I think getting back seaters might not be so difficult after go-live there may be people who find they are terrible at ship combat and still want to experience the thrill of ship combat, multi-crew ships like this offer them an opportunity to contribute while being along for the experience(s) Still others may enjoy RP as an R2 unit 😄(External view radar operator)
Your logo/intro audio only comes on the left speaker on my stereo headphones. Just want to point that out. The video after that is ok on both speakers.
Would you ever consider revisiting the Orion? I just looked and the last time you covered it was over eight years ago, and there's been advancements and changes since then...
I like the design the way it is. Once the cockpit for the copilot is Overhault and more tactical options for the commander role are available it will be a great multiplayer experience.
The Antares will be best-used semi-solo in conjunction with a Mantis and Warlock, with its EMP and Jammer only used as back-ups if either the Mantis or Warlock get destroyed. Those ships have interiors, so their pilots can often survive a soft-death of their ship, and then either pilot can use the empty seat in the Antares to engage the back-up EMP/Jammer. You might as well bring an extra ship for the copilot and just use the extra seat in the Scorpius/Antares as a back-up spot for a friend who survives their ships' destruction.
The Antares isn’t for me personally. But I’m happy it’s here. I’m guessing we’ll see it in SQ42, since we didn’t technically have a military qt jammer before it. That’s also the reason I am happy to see it exist. Most discuss its pirate uses. But for me, I see it’s value in a PMC org. Being part of the larger fleet. Perhaps having Antares mixed among Standard Scorpius’ in a squadron. It’s durability, being a military ship is another thing it has over the Mantis. Btw, don’t forget that the Sentinel’s EMP is only temporary until it gets its EMP missiles. Either way, I’m happy to fly along side both variants of the Scorpius in my single seater fighter. Preferably the Sabre, but CIG has done it dirty. ;_; 🇺🇦🇭🇹🇾🇪
I don't see the point, unless you're doing fleet ops. I feel there are better ships to fly for small random engagements, which is most of what SC is right now.
If CIG put an 8S2 missile turret on it, the second player would get gameplay and add dps to it. The ability to launch a missile back at pursuers would make this ship a gem.
Yes, definitely buy it if you you want to support CIG Marketing Cash Grabs or you want to impress upon your friends just how useless you see them as you put them in Antares second seat with only 2 buttons to push and no view.
If the co-pilot at least had a 3D Radar, that would be a big plus. You really can have a good understanding of situational awareness with the 3D Radar. I don't like the 2D Radar and it's seems to me to be very limited and hard to understand.
I think CIG has designed this ship as kind of the ultimate pirate ship. Use to disable other craft so that they can be boarded. And then have a waiting ship collect the cargo while the Antares goes out to find another victim.
3:24. I'd say yes. Because the Antares is good for being paired with RSI "capital " ships like the Polaris or even, maybe 👀 🤔 a Galaxy.........Definitely 👍 the Polaris.
I think it can also be used alongside the mantis and cutty blue and make like a police squad with the mantis getting criminals out of QT, the antares using as like a cop car and the cutty blue, with its cells as like the police van
I have come to realize giving SC any more money is the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and expecting different results. A game that you spend more time trying to get into than you actually play. Every wipe means days, weeks of waiting to even get into the game to find that they have changed the things you enjoyed doing to make it unplayable. The customer support in non-existent and they care less about the people that bought their Lamborghinis for them. Responses are cut and paste and most doesn't even correlate to your problem. They don't even try,
OK, a few corrections, it's not 4 s3 guns, it's 4s2 guns on gimbal, you can swap to s3 guns but the convergence is awful, and you aren't doing yourself any favors. Second you keep making the Mantis warlock vs the Antares, but not the blue/sentinel which is also two Pilots who do what the Antares can and out gun it to all hell. Unless I misheard you you said that the Antares copilot can manage power, they cannot.
There is no intention to build a game. CIG's business model is to sell jpeg concept ships instead. Even if a game was at all possible, CIG have no interest in finishing it, because there's little money in the PU, especially when they've stated ships are free in-game. By buying more jpeg ships, you only postpone your realization, that you will NEVER get your game (as described). You will NEVER see either SQ2042, SC PU or any of the iconic capital ships (that are 8-10 years in limbo already). Why? Because this is a feature creep scam & it was always intended to be that and only that. What breadcrumb progress you do see, is simply enough to look like CIG are trying, even though it's obvious they're NOT. This is what 10 years of breadcrumbs looks like: nothing is significantly done, not even the so-called priority, SQ2042 (see below). The most critical detail is this however: it's not remotely possible to build the game on a 13 year old, originally 32bit, inappropriate FPS game engine, that is no longer supported by Crytek (or Amazon) and is massively inefficient with computer resources. There are far too larger hurdles in the way, to allow this backbreaking engine, any hope of building such a large universe, with numerous enormous capital ships (>1000 metres), with crazy player # requirements, as well as the countless game features that have been promised like damage, repairs, mining, cargo, towing, racing, salvage, exploration, medical, FPS, bounty hunting, NPC's, ship hacking, smuggling, game economics, the vast universe environment, farming, parts maintenance, PES, passenger transportation, server meshing, media reporting, data running, quantum interdiction, base building, ship bazaars, stealth tech, etc., none of which are close to ready and many haven't even been started. Both CPU/GPU loads, with near zero feature creep implemented, have been seen on ISC (28 Oct 22) to just manage 16 fps doing nothing fancy (with high end gear). With 100% feature creep implemented, the processing demands would rise exponentially and we would need computer hardware so advanced, it will not exist literally this century, if ever. It's that bad! So why was this engine chosen then? Well, it looks good and is ideal bait to lure backers in with. That's why! The engine also allowed CIG to make rendered movies of what falsely looks like in-game footage of interactive gameplay, where what was rendered instead was just a movie only. The perfect example, is the infamous initial Kickstarter video, pitched to backers in 2012, where CIG lied that "actual game assets rendered in real time in engine" were clearly not the case. The video shows a Bengal Carrier, stated to be 1km long, that has never been seen used in-game once (in 10 years), but we've seen countless rendered movies of it however. They didn't have any game content in 2012, much less a Bengal Carrier; they lied to you even then, that it existed. You have various scenes with CR holding a console controller, lying that he was playing (what was instead) the rendered movies we were viewing. There is no interactive game footage, or game, that those movies were captured from. Recent tours of inside the Idris are also false - they too are just collections of independent videos made into a montage, with no actual interactive game behind them. The legal hassles involving SQ42 are relevant as well. CIG had a license to make 1 game with Crytek's engine, but being the crooks that they are, they made two games instead (the PU & SQ42) and that means Crytek sued them for breach of contract/theft. CIG claimed they used Lumberyard to continue work on SQ42, but it's not that easy to switch. CIG have since settled out of court, meaning they had indeed made an illegal game. This means SQ42 has been in utter limbo since: all work would have to be scrapped entirely and Crytek would have to be paid everything CIG earnt as well. You'll find Crytek owns CIG because of it. Settling tells backers everything right there: no work has been completed on SQ42 whatsoever. Seven years, where CIG said SQ42 was the priority (over the PU) are now for nothing. They really fracked up, when splitting the single player intro from the PU, but if you're a crook, it's tough to go against your nature and so it happened! They created a second game, when they only had a license to make one. The irony is, CIG cannot make SQ42 anyway, for the same reasons it can't make the PU, which doesn't matter to CIG, because this is about scamming jpeg ships (now) instead. Also consider Chris Roberts: sacked from Microsoft, for the same vaporware issues with Freelancer ~20 years ago. He was blacklisted after that by the industry and that is why he showed up a decade later on Kickstarter scamming! It's been 10 years since and little has been worked on. We haven't seen any evidence that SQ42 exists, because it's not even been worked on. If they had indeed something to show, we'd be seeing it all the time. The income generated from such a demo, would be unimaginable. Instead we see rendered movies. Clearly it's all a charade, that hinges on distracting victims from the reality, that the game is impossible to make. Even the revenue CIG claims it generates is questionable; this too is a deliberate distraction/deception, designed to prevent backers realizing the game (as promised) is impossible to make. It's now over a decade later, where the biggest evidence, that you'll NEVER see your game (as promised), is it's a decade later and there's no end in sight.
Simple Answer NO. Unless you own some simpleton that's going to sit in the back seat say nothing, and do exactly what you tell him, when you tell him. (Push button one wait, Push button 2 wait /repeat).
$230 for a ship you need another person for just like turret ships. I don't care what anyone says that's just bs. "Hire NPC" *Points at voice attack program* Really? Because we can't just tell the ship to do it? Then they gotta add anti-collision technology so people with low skills in groups can quit smashing into us when doing formations. Sometimes even high skill because of random desync. The kind that doesn't fly for you but will adjust your throttle and steering to prevent collision BUT both sides have to have it on because ramming seems to be part some players last stand when losing a fight. Not trying to make people mad just saying ships need something for HUMAN FACTS. Otherwise? Get rid of the humans like we're about to do.
You shouldn't spend a penny more than the base game if you actually want something to do that's long term as the only thing cig has in the game long-term is grinding auec for ships. You just encourage them to continue pumping out ships without anything to actually do in the game that doesn't seem like a 6 year old thought out and designed.
That's a very shallow argument, but a valid reason for not buying. If you want access to SC at this time, then get the base pack. And you can earn aUEC to buy this ship in game.
@@escapetarkov3838 didnt say it was a lie, but shallow/hollow, as there is way more to the picture :) and if you think the gameplay is short within this alpha, well thats your impression :) Whoever can try it themself in the next free fly, that last about two weeks ;)
you could use the Antares to disable a cargo ship as a fully crewed interdictor and then once you succeed at this the two of you board and take over from inside. passanger could then pilot stolen ship and you take Antares to an awating cargo ship for a transfer somwhere hidden

I think people are putting way too much faith in what a “blade” can even do. If it even ever gets implemented in game. (Which I doubt)
CiG can have money again when they deliver SQ42. Not before.

STL you seem to have misread the Q&A and/or erkul files.
The Antares is less maneuverable than the regular Scorpius, not more.
It is faster however.
The audio of your intro is only on the left side

Hard no. It goes against "The new player experience" CIG has always talked about it.
Better option is Mantis/Blue with a Sentinel/Hawk/Raven/Warlock

Second you keep making the Mantis warlock vs the Antares, but not the blue/sentinel which is also two Pilots who do what the Antares can and out gun it to all hell. Unless I misheard you you said that the Antares copilot can manage power, they cannot.
Thank you for a more positive review and looking at potential and not just numbers.
Cool!
A nice breakdown. I still think this ship is a bust. Just my opinion.
they can still sell ships but not get a new patch to work, at this point it's not worth buying ANY ship
For that what they did in 3.18 u shouldnt buy any ship.
NO... they need to fix alot of things first..
Otherwise? Get rid of the humans like we're about to do.
short answer. Nope.
👍😋💯😁❤️
Scorpius DS and no you shouldn't not buy it.
@@Paisa231 Argument matches the depth of game play my friend, also where is the lie? ;-), 100% agree on earning auec to buy more than a base ship.
@@escapetarkov3838 didnt say it was a lie, but shallow/hollow, as there is way more to the picture :) and if you think the gameplay is short within this alpha, well thats your impression :)
Whoever can try it themself in the next free fly, that last about two weeks ;)
simple answer: no
