How to tighten chain on Husqvarna 235 e-series chainsaw
My Uncle is over 80 so now has a service to do all his yard/tree work and gave me this saw...really needed this video !!! ... thanks.
Awesome! I'm glad the video as helpful! I just wanted to let you know that I've created a new channel specifically for tree & chainsaw related stuff. It's called Tree Nerds. Have you seen it yet? Here's the link: th-cam.com/channels/0Jx_WX2hYP7goqu0aBntiQ.html
I have had mine apart several times trying to fix this problem but I never realized about how the knob had to be moved all the way back to one side. Even a Husqvarna dealer didn't solve the issue. Was going to ditch the saw for a new one but now I'll give it another try. Thanks very much for posting this.
I bought the same chainsaw but could not get it started...You just saved me a trip back to Lowe’s, which is about 25 miles from my house! Thank you so much, John!
R tuner awesome! Glad the video helped👍
You absolute legend John. I was having the exact same problem and your video has got my baby girl up’n running again. Great work. Cheers
Explains things so well…. Getting the side panel back on was shown perfectly….perfect
Thanks! I have this saw and my chain brake handle broke. Not very safe that way, so I ordered a new brake handle. Was fiddling with it today and couldn’t figure out how to get that panel off. So now I should be able to change the brake handle without much incident, and get it all back together correctly - hopefully anyway!
Thanks!I just brought this second hand and trawling through god knows how many vids trying to work it out, yours was gold! :)
Boom! Glad I could help! 💪
Mr. Bowman thank you so much. Inherited this from my brother when he passed. Never used it until tomorrow, when I went to his farm and found a tree laying across the road. Now since, I am the new owner of a farm, maintenance is important. So, i have to cut up the tree and probably use it for firewood on the fourth. Was trying like heck to figure out how to use the darn thing. Now i know. Thnx again.
SIR!!! You just pulled the thorn from my paw!! THANK you for this!! You’re the Great American of the day at my house!!
Thank you!! First video I pulled up, and in minutes I am back up and running!! I am not profocient in this stuff, so I appreciate your work.
Awesome! I’m glad your back at it! Thanks for the comment! 💪
thanks that was very helpful I been trying to tighten mine unsuccessfully
Nice job you just bought a cheap saw and fixed the problem.
Yeah man, me too...needed this video. Couldn't figure out why the chain wouldn't stay tight. Thanks! Can;t wait to wake up in the morning and drop some wood.
tthanks john I am bill from Australia, I recently bought same saw,, had exactly same problem that you showed on video,, thanks mate , good luck , god bless you....
William Kelly Cool! Glad the video helped 👍
nice explanation, thanks, helped, I have a little 236e, great little saw around the yard/garden.
Had the same problem! Got mine for $50. thanks for the video!
Awesome! Good deal 💪
Thanks man, this was blowing my mind.
💪
I just found one by the side of the road with the chain off hopefully this video helps!
brilliant explanation
I have the exact same saw (236e) & that Tool-less chain tensioner failed every time I used the saw. I ended up removing that tricky plastic round nut tensioner thing & just used a flat washer & a M8 Nylock nut. It works 1000 times better & the chain stays tight. Apparently Husqvarna make a normal cover for this saw with two nuts to tighten the chain because their tool-less version is a failure when cutting anything bigger than a sapling. I tried to order it in Australia but this place is a backwater & I can't get one. I have since found out that the later model (120e) side-cover fits the 236e and it has the normal two nuts to keep the bar tight.
Install Tip!: Remove the pin (from the body of the saw) for the brake guard and put it in the cover so the stupid ring🤬 will expand and slip over the brake drum while pulling on the brake guard.
Thank you! The user manual was no help here!
Glad the video helped 👍
Thanks John. good video. all the info I need to change my chain. Thanks
David Petrochko Awesome! Glad it helped!!!
Thanks John. That helped me.
Louis Altmire awesome! I’m glad it helped 👍
I can't get the cover back on as it's a little bent? Can't get the brake part to fit together
Fixed it ! Thank you
Awesome!!! You're welcome 👍
You Sir are a bloody legend 👍🍻🍻
Thank you
💪💪💪
Damn, that was so very helpful. Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks Dennis!
To take the cover all the way off easily, your suppose pull back on the chain-break to realease clutch.
Yeah, that makes sense 👍
Big John!
Good Job, thanks
💪
I have the 240e model that has the same flip cap but I when I have it in the closed position, it doesn't lock down and while running, it opens (flips up) and becomes loose from the vibration. I'm not sure if this is a common problem or if I need to get a replacement flip cap. Thoughts? Thanks!
My guess is the flip cap is worn out.
@@johnbowmandiscus I found the part on Amazon and just put it in. Somehow my original one lost the spring that kept it closed. Now I'm good to go!
Very helpful, thanks
Thanks!
Merhaba bu 235 lik serinin kronik sorunları ni nasıl çözeriz
Isn't that bar upside down?
Yes it is. I do that so the bar wears evenly. 👍
My problem with the chain cover is getting the metal strap inside to fit around the brake drum...🤔🤨frustrating! Any tips?
See "How to replace Chainsaw Chainn Guard Clutch Cover Husqvarna"
Thanks!
Most welcome!
My 235e came with a 14" bar. Should be able to replace it with 16", correct?
Yes 👍
@@johnbowmandiscus thank you!
