- Macklin Celebrini has some pretty big shoes to fill.
huge shoutout to all the clip makers on youtube, Vindiggs and RussianNHL had some many great clips.

Hey guys, unfortunately, Sportsnet thinks that the 2011 clip of Vancouver beating San Jose in double overtime is from a 2021 game between Winnipeg and Edmonton, they copyrighted the entire video because of that clip so we had to trim it out.

Kings fan here, I was intending to watch and then gloat about the epic comeback against the Sharks, but I instead found myself empathizing with the despair that comes from watching your team never achieving their goal. Sharks organization puts a good product on the ice, their fans have always been loyal and supportive, I hope that for the sake of their fan base they one day can achieve their goal...during a Kings rebuild year of course. Excellent content!
Kings fan here as well, I agree
Thank u, that series broke my heart when I was like nine man. my niners recently lost in the bowl to the ravens, Oakland A’s choked a late game wild card lead to KC and the warriors had just went down in seven to the clips it was a roughhhh year for a youngsta 😂 glad I at least got to see a cup appearance, sb appearances and some fun Oakland playoff teams but there’s been a lotta heartbreak. Warriors helped keep the sanity 😭😭

Watched that series in a locals only bar in San Clemente with kings fans. Game 4 I called the reverse sweep. Game 7 they were consoling me and buying me beers (even though we made an agreement closer buys). Made me not hate the kings. It sucked but at least we lost to the best team in hockey that year
As a born and raised Sharks fan and growing up in the Sharks community, it truly is nice to be older and to be able to celebrate other teams. I think we Sharks fans were blessed to have had such an amazing team for so long, and, in the end, there was almost an expectation that a Cup was bound to come. And it never did. And tough as it was to watch that core team that I met as a child and idolize to this day, it also taught me so much as kid. To realize that everything in life is earned, not expected or guaranteed. That, the good times can't last forever. And that, though we are rivals, we are never enemies. I have grown to appreciate the historic collapse against the Kings, I will never forget it. Watching in my grandparents house in disbelief as we lost game 7. The utter shock I felt. I felt it against the Knights, the Pens, the Avs, the Wings. We got so close so many times that my grandpa comments to this day, "when are the Sharks finally going to win!?"
I remember the "we are the good guys and everyone else is bad guys" mentality of childhood, the "it's expected to happen" of adolescence, and I am grateful for the "love of the game" mentality that I have developed as I have matured. To that Quick, Kopi, Doughty led squad that dominated the playoffs for so long, I have to tip my cap to the sheer grit and intelligence of that squad. They truly outsmarted the Sharks, and hell, the League. I look back on it now, and it was one of the most brilliant runs of dominance that I can think of, with this new Panther's team rivaling it. No salary cap, LTIR BS (Vegas I'm staring straight at you). Just pure hockey IQ and intelligence from a team who is so connected and cohesive that it sometimes looks less difficult than it really is.
Sorry for the essay I wrote here and thank you if you made it to the end of this tangent lol. I guess to conclude is, from a Sharks fan, thank you, whether because the video compelled you or not, and best of luck to you guys this season and in many to come! I, too, am hopeful that the tides are turning for those of us who have only known to bleed teal. The future looks promising, and not just for us! I hope we will some have some epic playoff battles to quarrel over again, and until then, and after, I wish you guys all the best! It is a beautiful thing to enjoy this sport, and all the ups and downs that come with it!
Go Sharks go!! >^>
We really need the Cup in San Jose. We've had the Patty and Jumbo era, the Pavs and Couch era, now's the Smith and Celebrini era. And you can tell the excitement by seeing some of the former Sharks coming back to San Jose. Even though they are not players anymore, Patty and Jumbo deserves the Cup seeing how they made impact to the franchise.
Keep making the San Jose sharks content. I recently got into the NHL and have chosen to root for the Sharks. I’ve watched all your San Jose Sharks videos and made me understand and want to root for this franchise so much more. I live close to San Jose so I’ll definitely be going over there to watch some live games once the season starts. Hopefully the Sharks do well this season with Celebrini. Go sharks!!
Hey, even if they don't do well with Celebrini this year, the core is so young and looks so well managed that there's so much success in the next few years.
Try to go to a game or two this year so you can always say "I saw rookie Celebrini." It will be especially cool to say that after Macklin wins a cup 😉
As a lifelong Sharks fan since I was old enough to understand sports at all I can only offer my sincerest condolences lol
We say "Bleed Teal" but we've been bleeding enough of it to paint the streets of San Jose
...Go Sharks.
The sharks is the right answer for the question of who to root for
I resisted watching this... Didn't wanna relive the pain. I've been a sharks fan since I was 5 and my parents drove me to kindergarten passing the SAP center construction site.
I'm 38...
Love my team, would never deny them.. but damn... 🤞 They win one in my 40's
I'm not a very outwardly emotional man, but I'll admit that when the sharks won the draft lottery.. I got teary eyed. And it was on my 38th birthday.
I'm ready, we're ready for the "climb up".
Celebrini could technically get Jumbo, Clowe, Patty, Nabs their cups in SJ. All of them officially or unofficially as staff
Pavs needs to come back and coach, or do something with the team.
Patty might be Mr. Shark
Jumbo is the Director of Vibes, and always has been
But after what happened in 19/20, there's no doubting this
Joe is *the* Heart.
I miss clowe!!!
@@daboiracing3848 he's now an assistant GM to GMMG
Panthers got it down for Roberto Luongo
Lol chill lots of work to do lmfao
As a lifelong fan who’s spent time working at the sharks games, I really appreciate this video giving me some more hope for seasons to come. You contextualized the rebuild in a way no one else has for me. Great video. Can’t wait for Jumbo jersey retirement night
Thanks for making a grown man cry when you went over the "what ifs"
Bittersweet watch for me. I lost so much money, time, and energy obsessing over this team. They ruined my childhood, but taught me so many life lessons and brought me closer to my family. Was cool to take a trip down memory lane. Thanks for this.
Ruined your childhood Jesus 😂
That’s exactly how I feel about the Atlanta falcons. They ruined football for me when they choked in the 2016 Super Bowl.
Man, I don't watch football but I know about that choke. Sports are an emotional investment😂@@tylerblocker2501
Amazing video, as an SJ native. The "what-ifs" in the last quarter of the video was amazing. The hockey market in SJ is a lot smaller than other cities but the people here are fierce Sharks supporters. I've seen people that don't even watch hockey wearing Sharks gear, it's a part of San Jose's identity. The Sharks hold a really special place in my heart because of that.
I was born in 91 in Santa Cruz. I had the Sharks bomber jacket as a toddler with the crunch logo on the back. The Sharks are the only pro team in any sport I actively root for, and these last five years have been hard. I watched the 2016 finals while on deployment on the Truman at like 3am on armed forces network, and that game six was hard to watch for me, but I hoped they could bounce back. Losing Pavs was like losing the heart. Cooch is a great captain, don’t get me wrong, but losing a guy who had spent his entire career there, the Sharks who normally kept players because of the fun environment, suddenly wasn’t. Players started leaving left and right after Pavs, and not just the stars. Goodie, Sorensen, Melker Karlsson, Donskoi, Dilly etc. The depth guys that really filled the team out
I hope you’re excited after seeing Celebrini light it up this year! He’ll get us to the promised land, I can feel it.
Believe in Celebrini!
Enjoyed both parts, you did a great job on this Sharks documentary. At least they’re building another young core and have reasons for optimism next season.
We're still not going to win many games this year, but hopefully it should be more bearable than the last two
you did this
i’ve been waiting everyday since part 1 for this upload 🙏🙏🙏
same
Thank you for putting these videos together. It was an incredible trip down memory lane for me as a long time sharks fan, growing up with this team, through all of the highs and lows. This team even inspired me to play the sport of hockey. Incredible and very entertaining work!
The Big Pavelski! HoF in my book but I'm biased. Also I would consider retiring "8".
Loved this trip down memory lane and even with all the heartbreak it’s still brought back a lot of great memories
Hey, everyone!
Although we tried to be super diligent, we could have missed a detail or two at some point, sorry in advance.
We produced/wrote every song in this video. We're considering posting the songs from this video, along with the previous soundtrack from part 1, on streaming services. Let us know if you would be interested in listening to it as background music for studying/getting work done!
If you liked the video, give us suggestions for more content!
Thank you so much for watching guys!
story telling and production on this was fantastic! would def be interested in more like this and would support the release of the soundtrack too
I'm just curious to hear one of the songs because it low key sounds a lot like the Not Like Us sample lol
Been a Sharks fan since the playoffs series they lost to Dallas in 4 OT. What a bittersweet moment seeing them make it to the final. I've come back to hockey after being emotionally exhausted of the sport for 6 years. Celebrini brings a lot of hope, he is the future!
What an incredible and thorough video, incredibly nostalgic for me. Even though it resulted in a lot of disappointment and sadness, it was a whole lot of fun as well. Looking forward to the next chapter in sharks history, maybe things might be different this time around. Great video!
These vids have been an absolute joy to watch. Really hope to see more long form content!
I just hope they win a cup in my dads lifetime
My dad was a flyers fan but I decided I was a sharks fan at the age of 6 in 2007 because sharks are awesome and they had great jerseys, this team impacted my life and shaped the way i root for anything, this team was fun year in and out
Well done. I had a buddy I grew up with who’s father was one of the trade scouts. Got to go to some fun games. They were one of my favorite teams to watch. Great era, bummer they never sealed the deal
Really incredible series. I know a ton of work went into that so thank you! Go Sharks!
Great video. Makes me fall back in love with this team I grew up watching. I'll never forget going to game 1 of the 2019 WCF, hopefully we'll get to see that type of hockey in the bay again soon.
Thank you thank you more making this video, great stroll down memory lane, never got the cup but still a great time to be a Sharks fan
As someone who has watched every one of these games - thanks for making this great video. Really well done! Crazy times being a Sharks fan, but the future is looking good.
Clicked on it because the Sharks are a fascinating story of shortcomings in the postseason, stayed for the incredible production and background music. Sincerely hoping you all cross the 1K threshold soon and get monetized so these can make you all money, this is incredible content!
Thank you so much! We're happy people are into the fast-paced style. It takes a lot of work but there's so many little nuggets of info we can only show on screen for 2 seconds before something else comes up.
@@bigheadhockey Completely understandable, it's not easy to cover major stuff as it is, let alone every possible detail that a hockey season can entail. Excited to see what you all do next! (additionally, if you all do end up covering more teams down the line, the Avalanche could be an interesting call to cover since they went from perennial giants pre-lockout to a team that basically was THE bottom of the barrel of the league for years until the most recent resurgence)
Went to many sharks games, the ones I went to that stand out are game 5 against Dallas, and game 5 against the Ducks. When pavelski scored in game 5, the roof BLEW off. And that pass by Jeremy roenick to Campbell to tie the game was insane
This is such great context. Super engaging and really good storytelling
Lifelong Penguins fan here. The Sharks are my second team. I love the Sharks so much, and 2016 was what solidified it for me. I’ve seen the Pens play the Sharks more than any other team. Their cup will come soon, I know it. Their history and legends will be rewarded.
Best hockey video I’ve ever watched. My dad and I always hoped the sharks would make it happen. Dan Boyle was my favorite player growing up.
Hope you do more !
Amazing video, so hoping smith and celebrini can eventually do it!
Growing up in the bay, getting introduced to hockey in elementary school when Mike Rathje and Ray Whitney played ball hockey with us, this video really hits hard. Thanks for it.. only thing I would change is some of the pronunciation of the names and maybe include the nicknames like jumbo. crankshaft, and Donkey. Great video!
Always had a soft spot for the Sharks as a Stars fan. Knowing the Bay Area was cheering us on in the playoffs so they could see Pavs raise a Cup was always the best. Really hope he gets his name on it in some form one day.
great videos so far, I cant wait to see what content is in store next!
I’ll never forget my first San Jose game, got to see all of those legends back in 2011
I love TONS of NHL teams. While the Canucks are my personal Favs, and I follow all CANADIAN Hockey on the NHL, I've got 3 exceptions. San Jose, Detroit, and Phoenix (now Utah) have all got special places in my heart. Detroit won the cup in their late 2000's run when I was a kid, San Jose with the Comeback of the century against Vegas in 2019, and the legendary Mike Smith Goalie Goal for the Yotes'. The Sharks have been a joy to watch, and aside from the fans' antics before the anthems (Sharks fans, you know exactly what I'm talking about, we hear that on TV too lmfao), San Jose seems impossible to dislike. From their downs, to their ups, San Jose is LONG OVERDUE for a cup, and they've certainly earned it. GO SHARKS!!!
I watched this entire playoff run while stationed in Guam. I was at a local dive bar grabbing lunch and game 6 was on TV (thanks to the time difference). Had a buddy on the boat that was a massive Sharks fan and was going to watch the replay of the game after work… I didn’t have the heart to ruin it for him.
Less then a thousand subs is wild bro. Your content is so good
I'm on the train. Let's go! Well... I've been on the train since 1995... but I'm still here baby!
Hey, I'm a Pens fan and as much as I was so happy to see them win, it broke my heart for the Sharks. Penguins are my home town team but I love the sport and there's players I love on even the teams I don't like as a fan. I love what Thornton, Marleau, Burns, Couture, Vlasic, all the great Sharks did and I really wished they won a cup. It's tough that we have to have losers but it's the reality. I hope the new core will finally bring it home, I have been blessed to see the Blues, Capitals, Panthers and Knights all win their first and with guys I loved. I got to see my 2nd home town, just north of Tampa so the Lightning, win back to back and got to see MacKinnon win his and he's a player everyone loves I feel. I'll be just as happy if I ever get to see the Sharks win it. Here's to it.
What a way to relive the Ups & Downs as a Sharks fan..great memories and heck of a squad bt could never get through in the Playoffs til ‘16 and still think we woulda raised tha cup if it went to 7 🤷🏻♂️ and why weren’t the Sharks able to get Lindros?? 🤔🤔 great vid fam 🦈🏒🫡🙏🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥
Dude, this is amazing quality content. Good shit
I will legit cry if Celebrini hands the cup to Marleau first if they win the cup.
They better start winning. Past two years have been hell to watch
Amazing man. Keep up the good work!
-Sharks fan
I had those same “what-ifs” about all the years the Sharks were contenders and how they could have won:
2002 - Probably lose to the Wings if they win that game 7
2004 - One of the best legitimate shots at the cup. I am confident they had a chance against Tampa. 2004 was a weird year where there really weren’t that many cup contending teams.
2006 - Similar to 2004, this could have been the Sharks year. Up 2-0 in the series and an OT winner away from going up 3-0, then they blow it to the Oilers. I liked their chances against Anaheim and Carolina that year, they were one of the best teams after getting Jumbo.
2007 - A 2-0 lead in game 4 close to going up 3-1 against the Wings then they blow it. Probably lose to Anaheim in the next round though.
2008 - No one was beating Detroit that year
2009 - One of the best starts to a season ever padded their stats overall. They stumbled into tbe playoffs, honestly not surprised they lose early.
2010 - Another what if, but the Blackhawks were flat out such a good team, no shame here.
2011 - This team just felt off, I have little confidence they would have beat the Bruins even if they didn’t choke game 5 against tbe Nucks and somehow won the series.
2013 - No way they beat Chicago and Boston
2014 - Would have been one of the toughest routes to a Stanley Cup ever. Doubt they beat both Anaheim and Chicago
2016 - I just wish the magic of the team didn’t disappear right as the finals started. Once Pittsburgh won game 1, I had a feeling it was over. The what if here is Paul Martin playing better defence on that late 3-2 goal in game 1 😔
The Thornton, marleau, couture, pavelski, burns sharks team should’ve won the cup, I find it crazy they never did. Were such a great team for so long.
Btw As a Canucks fan I forgot we got swept by the sharks in 12/13 thats how miserable it’s been for a Canucks fan since that season lmao 😅haha
( but I remember 3011)
Finally we had some playoffs and a good regular season this year, hopefully more to come and we face the sharks again in the playoffs soon and make a new rivalry
these overalls like nhl really made this easier to understand😭
*Sigh* as a fan from 1999 it’s been so painful seeing a club filled with such talent and amazing players just never being able to get that damned silver cup… honestly it’s not anger at other teams that achieve - honestly I just want to know how it feels for your hockey club to finally win it all. One day man… one day
Great video! Id love to see more long form content. You should do one for the Blackhawks
The Ekman, Thornton Cheehoo line was really good
I don't know if that "media offline" pic was intentional when you mentioned Stutzle but I felt that in my soul 😭
Probably not, I'm pretty sure that's what shows up when a picture doesn't exist anymore
😂 We reuploaded this video like 4 times because that entire section had copyright issues. This was the only one that didn't have any copyright issues and we forgot to upload. It was a stat from our Twitter on how Stutzle leads the 2020 draft class in a bunch of different stats.
Well I felt it was semi appropriate, as the media was not on the video akin to how Stutzle is not on our team!
I'm not a sharks fan, I'm a leafs fan, but my god does this make me want to cheer for the sharks
As a sharks fan I LOVE this series
I'm gonna need more videos like this guys
Love this video, reminded me how much of a poverty franchise you are, go knights
This video got you a follow. Fantastic synopsis
Thanks for making me sad and hopeful all within 40 mins😂
Unreal video! Really enjoyed it. New sub
Was just watching this video and like I look at my notifications and pavelski just officially retired LOL.
It wasn’t until now that I realized how much of a wagon the sharks are in the 21st century and how well they draft and develop players
Did you PURPOSELY mispronounce the name of 2/3 of the Sharks players? OMG
As a man who once scored a game winning goal in a house league hockey game, I can assure you that it’s not luck.
How does this man not have 100 thousand subs
Yo bro you forgot about Randy Hahn
Im not a sharks fan but this creator is hella underrated
Yep. Bittersweet. 😅 man. Thanks for this.
I'm a Pens fan, but San Jose has always been that Western Conference team, that I wanted to see do good. Have family from right outside of San Jose , the Sharks is an awesome name and logo , and Marleau was probably my favorite non-Penguin ( until he became one ) . That 2016 final was awesome as a Pens fan, but I still felt a little bad for y'all. All the talent and some fantastic regular seasons , but 0 cups , that's gotta sting. Y'all will be back .
Respectfully, any Penguins fans that feels bad for 2016 can kick rocks. It's super easy to feel bad when your team has already won multiple cups with Mario Lemieux AND already won the Cup with Crosby AND celebrating a 4th stanley cup.
If the Sharks ever do comeback to the Cup Final, I lowkey want it to be Pittsburgh again so they can avenge 2016, but I also know the Sharks will find someway to let down their loyal fanbase because championships are not the priority to their business.
As a Pens fan, I would’ve rooted for the Sharks if they played anyone else in the 2016 Cup but I had no choice but the Sharks should’ve had at least 1 cup in the Thornton/Marleau/Pavelski era. 2010 was their best chance other than 2016 but the Blackhawks were just too much
I have made peace with all of this.
Edmonton Oilers 2006 was the first warning sign AFTER Joe Thornton signed
It still pains me that in 2016 I had to work EVERY game when we went to the finals...
38:27 The Oilers beat the Sharks in the 2017 playoffs in the first round, not second.
Other than that, great video!
Are you planning on doing videos like this for other teams?
YOU TOOK THE BEIKSA GOAL OUT
Gotta talk about that game 7 comeback vs Vegas tho
11:23 Mattias Norstrom Dallas Stars legend
Great video!! Thanks for sharing
For real, shoutout Desi for wearing #69
Great Video. 🙏🏽
Well... here I am ugly crying at work. Fintastic content.
Milan Me-hah-lek not Me-kah-lek. Gotta pronounce our vets' last names right my guy.
2019 was so so close too, if Erik Karlsson wasn’t playing injured we might have got over that hump.
"If X wasn't injured.... if the sharks played this team instead of that team" is the summary of every Sharks playoff run since 2006.
Video was dope !!!
Scott Hannon was such a g
Respectfully i believe the canucks deserve the title of most successful losers
awesome video m8
im not even a hockey fan and this shit was fire 🔥
Amazing video!
I'm a Kings fan, but was cheering for the Sharks in 2016. I wanted them to do it, but of course...they didn't.
5:27 that’s how he got his nickname “no show joe” always disappeared in the playoffs
Yep. To this day, I firmly believe Joe Thornton was the best AND worst thing to happen to the Sharks organization. His regular season performances attracted fans and the media, but he never lead the charge and keep up that scoring in the playoffs.
The pain as a sharks fan! Yikes
The league wanted sharks to win a cup so badly that they decided to let them conning their way to the WCF in 2019 and they still couldn't get it done. They screwed vegas, colorado and stl got robbed one game after timo meier hand pass GWG. Finally karma hit them back, the sharks have been living in a basement ever since that fraudulent cup run. All their star players suffered career ending injuries, or retired without a cup. Karma is real.
Sharks fan here. Everything is pain.
I was at game 6 against the blues I lost my hearing for 3 days
I look back on this era of Sharks with disappointment - not necessarily for not winning a cup - but only getting the finals once. And I would make the argument the year they did make the finals - they had a pretty easy lineup of teams until they ran into Pittsburgh. Yes great players but such a waste of talent. And its no guarantee they will make it back anytime soon - look how bad Buffalo or Anaheim have been lately and they are still nowhere close to being a playoff team let alone a credible cup winning team.
Where are those Player cards from
Made them in photoshop!
The Blues were NHL, and maybe pro sports most successful losers until 2019.
