No. I loved my M140i, but this is just a big fat NO! I don't care if it handles better. The only reasons to own a fast 1 series were the 6pot engines and rwd. My M2 better make up for it when it arrives next month, as I miss my M140 every single day.
@Stefan I hope so. I haven't even had a test drive in one, just part exd my M140i against the M2. Can't wait to get it. My M140 was a lot faster than the M2 as it was tuned, but I know the M2 will be better in every other way.

@Stefan yeah I will eventually, but I'll probably keep it stock until next summer. I'll try and get a few thousand miles on it before I think about tuning it. It's the competition yeah. Going by looks alone, the M2 is far far better looking than any other BMW imo.
@Stefan yeah I was worried about the opf. I've seen what it's done to the Audi RS3/TTRS in terms of straight line speed and noise. Not good at all. I'll have to wait and see how it sounds. I've driven the older N55 M2, and that sounded really good.

Its actually kinda good looking when you option it the right way:
-black exterior colour
-black front grill (m performance parts)
-black rims
that way it looks quite good
Facelifted model is supposed to improve performance and looks.

This is primary FWD, AWD is only an option.

I think BMW is too focused on profits and margin.....this car has nothing to do with 'creating more space in the back'...it is just cost cutting keeping prices equal or even at a higher level than the predecessor model. I have a 118iA 2017 (LCI-II) but would never consider bying this new 1 Series....I miss that long flat bonnet of the old 1 Series especially.

You need to write it’s Optional. Of course you can get Xdrive . BMW X drive system amazing as Audi Quattro. I drive both and the same on snow ❄️ I compared RS3 Sedan and M140 both 2018 , this M135i look amazing and sound nice
No emotions in this 4 cyl.. Always ahead with the engine in this class, but now.. 😢

Ich mag ihn. Es ist richtig, dass man dem alten / neuen 1er ihre unterschiedlichen Antriebskonzepte ansehen kann - mich stört das ehrlich gesagt nicht. Rein vom Exterieur würde ich den neuen 1er dem F20 in jedem Falle vorziehen. Dem F20 sieht man zwar das Heckantriebskonzept an, ansonsten war der F20/21 für mich aber eine absolute Designkatastrophe, und das, obwohl ich selbst zwei F20 hatte. Er war / ist einfach ein hervorragendes Auto. Und ich vermute, dass der neue 1er eher in Bezug auf Fahrdynamik und Fahrfreude, eben auch bedingt durch das Antriebskonzept, mit dem alten nicht mithalten kann. Ansonsten bin ich mir sicher, dass er sich aufgrund des gelungenen Designs sehr gut (und damit auch deutlich besser als der F20) verkaufen wird, denn Design ist für viele, die sich in diesem Segment für ein Auto entscheiden, doch ein sehr entscheidendes Kriterium.
Also schöner ist der Neue nicht unbedingt, er ist einfach anders. BMW geht eine neue Richtung. War der F20 der elegantere und harmonischere, so wirkt der neue jugendlicher und funkier. In dem Fall ist es einfach Geschmackssache. Wobei ich dem alten durch seine Flachheit klassisch sportlichere Eigenschaften zuschreiben würde, der Neue versucht das durch Details bei Spoilern, langezogenen Leuchten und breit akzentuiertes Heck zu kompensieren.
Was für mich leider gar nicht geht, ist der hohe, aufdringliche Grill. Ich mag eher futuristisches Design, der Grill aber erinnert stark an längst vergangene Epochen, altbacken in Zeiten der aufkommenden E-Autos. Ich hätte mir erwartet, dass BMW eine zukunftsträchtigere Front mit klaren Linien a la Madza 3 liefert.

It's front biased or 50/50 at best, which doesn't bode well.
Previous xdrive systems were rear biased.

I think, the most of you are either dump or you just don't read the new emissions rules. All manufactures are forced to downsize their engines to produce reduced emissions. Especially the 2020 Modells instead of 2000cc they will have 1400 engines. It doesn't matter if we like it or not. Thats the reality, and we have to accept it. I do like the v10 engines too. But in the near future all of this cars will be electricals and the v10 history

I love this new M135i! It has probably made my far superior M140i increase in value ;) Seriously though, BMW have missed the point of the 1-series I think... it is there to entice people in to the BMW brand. My first car was a 2004 120i, all I could afford at the time, and I loved the RWD handling so much that I've had tonnes of BMW's since then, and finally the ultimate 1-series, the M140i :D New buyers will have no idea how a proper BMW is supposed to handle... shame...
